Description
Spiritual Assurance: More Than “I Hope So.”
People long for assurance. We search for it, ache for it, and often live in fear without it.
Many walk through life haunted by questions like, “Am I truly saved?” or “Does God still love me after what I’ve done?” These aren't just theological questions—they're deeply personal, heart-level concerns.
The Chasing Assurance Podcast will bring clarity, comfort, and Biblical confidence to those who wrestle with their relationship with God. This is more than a conversation—it's an invitation to rest in the truth of the Gospel and walk in spiritual assurance.

Why do Christians still struggle with sin and temptation after giving their lives to Jesus?
If you've ever wondered why following Christ doesn't make temptation disappear, you're not alone. The truth is that becoming a Christian doesn't mean the struggle is over. In many ways, the battle is just beginning.
In Episode 70 of Chasing Assurance, Dr. Terry L. Peer and Terry Peer get real about the struggles every believer faces while trying to live a life that honors God.
Drawing from James 1, 1 Corinthians 10, and Romans 7–8, Dr. Peer explains why temptation is a reality for every Christian, how sin takes hold in our lives, and the incredible promises God has given us to overcome it.
In this episode, we discuss:
Why temptation doesn't disappear when we become Christians
The difference between a trial from God and temptation to sin
How small desires can lead us down a dangerous path
Why even the Apostle Paul struggled with doing what was right
God's promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 to always provide a way of escape
How Jesus provides forgiveness, freedom, and victory over sin
Why the Christian life isn't about being perfect, but about being faithful
One of the most encouraging truths in this episode comes from 1 Corinthians 10:13. God is faithful. No matter what temptation you're facing, He promises to provide a way out.
And when we stumble, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ.
IT'S NOT ABOUT BEING PERFECT. IT'S ABOUT BEING FAITHFUL.
We also share updates during our Lester's Feet segment, including prayer requests for families facing serious medical challenges, and reflect on the importance of trusting God one day at a time.

Can a person who is genuinely saved actually fall from grace?

It's one of the most debated questions in Christianity. Some believe that once you're saved, you're always saved. Others struggle with constant uncertainty about their salvation.
But what does the Bible actually teach?
In Episode 69 of the Chasing Assurance Podcast, Dr. Terry L. Peer and Terry Peer tackle this difficult question as part of their ongoing series, **The Questions Which Challenge Us**.
Using Scripture, Dr. Peer explores the doctrine of conditional security, the role of free will, and the incredible promises God makes to those who remain faithful to Jesus Christ.
**In this episode, we discuss:**
- Can a genuinely saved Christian fall away from grace?
- What does Galatians 5:4–5 teach about falling from grace?
- Why does God give believers free will?
- What does "once saved, always saved" really mean?
- How do John 10 and Romans 8 describe our security in Christ?
- Why does Jesus repeatedly tell believers to remain in Him?
- What warnings does Hebrews give Christians about falling away?
- How can we have confidence in our salvation without living in fear?
- Why staying faithful is different from trying to be perfect.
One of the most powerful reminders from this conversation is simple:
"Stay faithful, not perfect."
God doesn't expect us to achieve perfection through our own efforts. Our assurance is found in Jesus Christ, His sacrifice, and our continuing faith in Him.
We also share an important update from Lester's Feet Foundation and two urgent prayer requests for families facing serious medical challenges.

At what point does personhood begin—at conception or sometime later?
It is one of the most consequential questions in the discussion surrounding the unborn, abortion, the sanctity of life, and what it means to be created by God.
In Episode 68 of the Chasing Assurance Podcast, Terry Peer and Dr. Terry Peer continue their series “The Questions Which Challenge Us” by examining the biblical question of ensoulment—when a human being becomes a person possessing spiritual and moral value.
Dr. Peer begins with a foundational premise: from the moment of conception, when the sperm and egg unite, a new human life has begun. From that point forward, this person possesses inherent sanctity and value before God.
The discussion examines several important passages of Scripture, including Exodus 21:22–25, a passage sometimes used to argue that the unborn child has a lesser value than the mother. Dr. Peer discusses the language of the passage and why he believes it describes a premature birth rather than a miscarriage—and why the distinction is important to understanding the biblical value placed upon unborn life.
The episode also explores:
• Psalm 139:13–16 and God's involvement in forming life in the womb
• Job 3:11 and Job's description of his own life in the womb
• Jeremiah 1:5 and God's knowledge of Jeremiah before birth
• Luke 1:34–44 and the lives of Jesus and John the Baptist before birth
• Why Scripture refers to unborn babies as children
• The biblical significance of being created male and female
• Why prenatal life is known personally and intimately by God
• The difference between being “fully human,” “potentially human,” and “not yet human”
But this conversation isn't only about defending a biblical position.
Dr. Peer also speaks directly to women, men, and families who have been affected by abortion.
If an abortion is part of your past and you carry regret, grief, or guilt, this episode contains an important message of grace, forgiveness, redemption, and assurance through Jesus Christ. Your past does not place you beyond the reach of God's forgiveness.
That message is at the heart of Chasing Assurance.

If God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and sovereign over everything, does our prayer actually make a difference? Or is everything already determined?
That’s the listener-submitted question at the heart of this episode of the Chasing Assurance Podcast. Terry Peer and Dr. Terry Peer takes us into Exodus 32, where Moses discovers Israel worshiping the golden calf. God declares judgment against the people, but Moses intercedes on their behalf—and Scripture tells us that the Lord relented concerning the judgment He had threatened.

So what does that mean for us today?
Can prayer actually affect what God does? How can God remain completely sovereign while also hearing and responding to our prayers? And perhaps the hardest question of all: What happens when we pray faithfully and God's answer is no—or His answer looks completely different from what we wanted?
This conversation explores the relationship between prayer, God's sovereignty, His timing, and our trust. We look at Moses, Jonah, Jeremiah, Jesus' teaching on persistent prayer, and the biblical call to pray according to God's will.
One of the central ideas of the episode is that prayer isn't about convincing God that our plan is better. It's about participating in what God is doing while trusting that He can see circumstances, consequences, and eternity in ways we simply cannot.
As Dr. Peer explains, sometimes God's answer may be yes. Sometimes it may be no. Sometimes it may be not now. Our challenge is learning to trust God even when His answer isn't the one we expected.
This week's Lester's Feet segment also includes prayers for the Razor family following the passing of Charles Razor and introduces Shepherd, a young boy whose family is preparing for three to five months of treatment in Boston. Lester's Feet is working to help provide temporary housing so his family can remain together throughout his treatment.
Scripture of the Week
Psalm 37:3–5 (LSB)
“Trust in YAHWEH and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in YAHWEH; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to YAHWEH and, Trust in Him and He will do it.”

What happens to someone who lives and dies without ever hearing the Gospel?
Study Guide Link:

It is one of the most difficult questions Christians wrestle with, and in Part 2 of this discussion, Terry Peer and Dr. Terry L. Peer continue looking to Scripture—not simply human opinion or emotion—for the answer.
If someone has never had a Bible, never attended a church, never heard a preacher and never met a missionary, what do they actually know about God?
Dr. Peer walks through Romans 1–3 and other passages to examine the different sources of “light” available to humanity, including creation, an inherent awareness of God, moral law and conscience.
But that leads to an even more difficult question:
Do any of us actually live up to the light we have been given?
Romans 3 gives a sobering answer: “There is none righteous, no, not one,” and “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
This discussion ultimately brings us back to the urgency of the Great Commission. If the world needs Jesus, then Christians have been given a responsibility to carry the Gospel beyond our churches, communities and comfort zones.
Romans 10:14–15 asks:
“How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?”
In this episode:
• What Romans 1 says everyone can know about God
• How creation reveals the Creator
• The difference between general and special revelation
• The “inner moral law” described in Romans 2
• How our conscience acts as an “inner umpire”
• Why having some knowledge of God does not mean we live according to it
• What “all have sinned” really means
• Jesus as the glory of God
• The balance of grace and truth demonstrated by Jesus
• The biblical state of those who remain unreached
• Why missions and evangelism still matter
• The responsibility Christians have to take the Gospel to the world
This episode also includes our weekly Lester’s Feet segment and the story of 13-year-old Ian and his family. Please join us in praying for Ian, his mother Chelsea and his younger brother as they continue traveling long distances for his medical treatment.
We also share an update on Boone Brothers and the ministry resources now available to hunters and families.
If these conversations are helping you wrestle with difficult questions of faith, share this episode with someone who may be asking the same questions.
And remember: our goal isn't simply to have an opinion about difficult questions. It is to open God's Word and discover what He has actually said.

PINNED COMMENT
This is one of the toughest questions Christians are asked:
What happens to someone who never has the opportunity to hear the Gospel?
After listening to Parts 1 and 2, what Scripture from these discussions helped you understand the issue more clearly?
Please keep the conversation respectful and rooted in Scripture. There are people reading these comments who may genuinely be wrestling with this question.
And please join us in praying for Ian and his family from this week's Lester's Feet segment.
