In this video, I explore why America is weaker today — from leadership purges to policy failures — and why voting Republican in 2026 only continues the trend. A concise, evidence-driven breakdown for voters who want clarity. This should be the national message for Democrats. Since our party leaders are still horrible messengers, I’m hoping to show other candidates across the country that this message resonates. If it resonates with you, go here and donate to my campaign. If I raise $5, then I’m wrong. If I raise enough to impress, then other candidates will adopt this message because I’ll be telling them how much you liked it.Also, the more you share it. The farther it will go. This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit resistorvic.substack.com/subscribe
The United States has spent trillions of dollars fighting wars tied to oil.But what if we invested that money at home instead? In this video I look at what those trillions could have done for American energy independence, including a simple idea: what if we invested in energy storage for every household in America instead of fighting another war for oil?Sometimes the question isn’t whether we can afford something. It’s whether we’re choosing the right thing.https://vicmeyersfordemocracy.com/ This is a public episode. Last year the Colorado legislature passed the Worker Protection Act. Governor Polis vetoed it, and the House was one vote short of being able to override that veto.I helped organize a coalition of Colorado content creators to push for the bill and encourage people across the state to contact their legislators and the governor’s office. We came close, but not close enough. This week my opponent, Ty Winter, voted against the Worker Protection Act again. If I win this seat, the House will finally have the vote needed to override the governor’s veto the next time this bill comes forward.Colorado workers deserve better.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Work. Resistor Vic. Campaign. Work. Resistor Vic. Campaign……..Sometimes a guy just has to take a minute and have some fun. That’s what this video is. I’m very happy for my friend Billy Simons Jr., whom I met on TikTok. He got a gig at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta (it’s actually in Decatur but I don’t want to argue with Eddie). I read that John Mayer got his big break at Eddie’s Attic. I hope that’s a sign of where Billy is going. That’s why I made this video to help promote his gig. This is a public episode. Mike Francingues (Big Mike on TikTok) is a union worker and part-time journalist. He’ll be guest-hosting for me for the foreseeable future so I can focus more energy on my campaign for Colorado House Dist 47. I’ll step in occasionally as time permits. His guest for his first episode is The Leftist Timothy. One of my favorite TikTok-ers because he’s an incredibly smart guy with great research skills and an incredible knowledge of history.Mike and Tim talk about our war on Iran, Israel’s influence on said war, and the Texas primary victory of James Talarico. We’re being told that Iran has killed “over 2,000 Americans” over the past 47 years. That number isn’t random, and it isn’t neutral. In this piece, I look at how casualty figures are framed to trigger emotional memory, why certain historical comparisons are invoked, and how war is sold to the American public. From Orwellian language to congressional politics, this isn’t just about foreign policy — it’s about how narratives shape consent.vicmeyersfordemocracy.com This is a public episode. Now that I’ve entered the race to represent my Colorado State House district, I find my time seriously constrained. That being the case, I’ve asked Big Mike (Mike Francigue) to step in and guest host the Resistor Vic podcast. I may jump in from time to time and host an episode. It just depends upon when or if I have the time. I picked Mike because he’s been interviewing candidates from around Colorado. He does a good job of asking good questions and I feel I, we, can trust him to take care of the Resistor Vic podcast. I’ll still be helping to arrange guests and publishing. I’m kinda jealous about Mike getting to interview one of the guests I’m currently working on getting. Can’t say too much yet but I think you’ll want to hear this one.Stay tuned. And if you’re wondering about my campaign, got to VicMeyersForDemocracy.com to learn more. This is a public episode. I’m not interested in partisan takes on the latest strike. I’m thinking about something else — the silence. The muted response. The familiarity.Columbine once shattered us. Now children die in schools, here and abroad, and the reaction feels routine. This is about conditioning. About desensitization. About what it means when tragedy no longer stops us in our tracks. We listen for the bell. This is a public episode. I’ve published a new surveillance policy that calls on Colorado to prohibit license plate reader cameras on government property and ban the collection, use, or sharing of that data by state agencies. There is already bipartisan concern about these systems. I believe regulation is not enough. We need a clear constitutional line. The full policy paper is available on my campaign website. I hope you’ll read it and share it. This is a public episode. I have been thinking about America as a young nation still trying to grow deep roots. Between political corruption, what we are learning from the Epstein files, and the broader direction of the country, I find myself wondering whether we are strengthening those roots or weakening them. This is a personal reflection about responsibility, accountability, and why participation in primaries still matters. This is a public episode. In this video I give two clear examples of how the party establishment is trying to protect their turf by making life hard for challengers to the status quo.Karen Breslin in Colorado has been campaigning for a year while holding down her day jobs. The party establishment is making it hard for her to get visibility and raise money. If she emerges from the caucuses as the only challenger to Hickenlooper, she’ll take off.Kat Abughazaleh is hated by AIPAC and the party establishment in Illinois is falling in line by trying to reduce her visibility. These are the kinds of candidates that we need to succeed if we’re going to change the status quo. Who is the party trying to hold back in your state? This is a public episode. I used to treat the State of the Union as a civic responsibility. It was a moment to hear policy direction, to evaluate leadership, to judge whether Congress was doing its job.Today it often feels like spectacle layered on spectacle. Counter events, boycotts, viral moments, and endless commentary can distract from the simplest and most revealing thing: letting people watch for themselves. This piece is about how we got here, what changed, and why sometimes restraint is the most powerful political response.#Politics #Democracy #PoliticalCulture #StateOfTheUnion #CivicResponsibility #AmericanPolitics This is a public episode. I sat down with Alex Kelloff, who is running for Congress in Colorado’s 3rd District, to talk about what representation is supposed to look like.We covered the district itself, rural economic realities, infrastructure investment, job creation, and something I think matters more than almost anything right now: Congress reclaiming its authority as a co-equal branch of government. For too long, Congress has surrendered its power to the executive branch. That has consequences for accountability, for budgets, for war powers, and for everyday Americans who deserve legislators who actually legislate. This conversation wasn’t about buzzwords. It was about responsibility. If you care about the role of Congress, the future of rural communities, and what serious governance looks like, I think you’ll find this one worth your time. The Supreme Court ruled some tariffs illegal. That doesn’t mean the damage disappears. Consumers won’t get refunds. Small businesses don’t magically reopen. But big corporations will likely fight to get paid back. That raises a bigger question: who really benefits when policies like this collapse? This video looks at what happens next, and who ends up footing the bill. This is a public episode. Real representation means more than speeches and photo ops. It means using every tool available to stand up for the people you represent.A new VA rule affecting disability evaluations was published today, and this is exactly the kind of moment where elected officials should be pushing for oversight and accountability. If they will not act, the public needs to remind them who they work for. I grew up when schools helped build real community. Parents knew each other, kids looked out for each other, and we understood we were responsible for the next generation. That feeling is slipping away, and our kids see it. This is a conversation about what we owe them and why strong public schools still matter. This is a public episode. I wanted to take a minute just to say thank you.The response since I announced my campaign has been humbling, encouraging, and honestly energizing. We’re building something real together, and I appreciate every one of you who’s part of it. I wanted Valentine’s Day to just be Valentine’s Day. But Parkland happened on that date. Then Uvalde. Then the children caught up in immigration enforcement. Then unanswered questions about abuse and accountability. This is about one thing: whether we actually protect children, or just say we do. This is a public episode.
