Welcome listeners to the Sagittarian fires of 2025, in today’s episode we are delighted to present Kadmus for the second time on the show. Kadmus has developed many of his earlier ideas from his essay, ‘Every Nekuomanteia is a Katabasis’ into perhaps one of the single greatest texts on the subject of Necromancy I have ever read. Kadmus is a teacher and author, focusing on philosophy, myth, politics and the multivalence of Pagan thought. Today we discuss a huge range of subjects concerning necromancy, the myths of Circe, Medea, and the hermaphrodite Tiresias, Pre-Mycenaean oral mythology, how to build report with the shades of the Dead and much more. In this month’s episode we introduce Vanessa Irena, author of ‘Ecstasy, A devotional guide to the female mystics’, one of Hadean Press’ Guides to the Underworld. Vanessa and I discuss her personal experience of negotiating and re-contextualising her relationship with Catholicism, specifically by exploring the female mystics of medieval Europe.Vanessa’s work offers us a unique window into a living and enfleshed Christian experience, which, far from denying the material body, is instead vitalised within it, as the vehicle through which divinity is experienced. This is a queer, erotic and transgressive mysticism, centred upon the women who reclaimed their autonomy from the strictures of medieval society and independently explored the divine to become some of the most phenomenal women in European history. You can find ‘Ecstasy, A Devotional Guide to the Female Mystics’ here: https://hadean.press/products/ecstasy-a-devotional-guide-to-the-female-mystics As well as Vanessa and Al’s Guide to Saint Raphael the Archangel: https://hadean.press/products/saint-raphael-the-archangel You can find more from Vanessa at her site: https://vanessairena.com/ And her store: https://swordandscythe.com

Available now from Hadean Press: https://hadean.press/search?q=Mystery... In this, our 1 year anniversary of the Hadean Podcast, we celebrate the work and magic of Cath Thompson, a pioneering member of the O.’.A.’.A.’. who, alongside founder Jim Lees and her peer Jake Stratton-Kent, pushed forward the boundaries in which astrology, gematria, and ceremonial magic could be explored and expressed via their groundbreaking discoveries made in the field of English Qaballa. In our conversation Cath and I discuss the history and evolution of this highly innovative and multi-valiant approach to magical art, the nature of the Liber AL vel Legis and its multifaceted interpretation from a post-Thelemic perspective, the events which unfolded during EQ’s early years in the 1970's, and how this magic can be applied to our own personal approach to esotericism. Cath Thompson is a veteran magician but also a preeminent author. We explore Cath’s entire literary output, with a particular attention paid to her forthcoming text, ‘The Mystery of the Letters’, which condenses Cath’s 40 years of practical gematria and magical knowledge into her seventh and final volume.
