In this episode Caroline and Nick have more of the evidence from Chris Trybus, the man on trial. During his third day in the witness box he said he never abused his wife, Tarryn Baird, and he now felt “betrayed” by her allegations. He also said again that he was out of the country on two of the occasions she said he’d beaten her. He also said he was baffled to find out that during a romantic holiday in Scotland, Tarryn sent an email to a domestic violence advisor saying their relationship was “increasingly difficult” and she knew she had to leave him. In this episode Chris Trybus tells his story. Giving evidence in his own defence for the first time he denied ever hurting his wife. In fact he he loved Tarryn Baird dearly. He said they had a very ordinary marriage apart from their sex life which he admitted was kinky and spicy. He said dealing with Tarryn’s death was the hardest thing he’d ever faced and he said his happy memories of their marriage had been tainted by her allegations.Subscribe via thecrimedesk.comFollow us on TikTok @DailyMailCrimeEmail us thetrial@dailymail.comWhatsApp us +447796657512 (start your message with ‘Trial’) Presenter: Caroline Cheetham and Nick FaggeActors: Katy Hill, Tippi Willard and Lucy RyanProducer: Chelsey RanoreEditor: Chelsey RanoreCreative Director: Caroline CheethamProduction Manager: Vittoria Cecchini A Daily Mail production. In this episode Caroline and Nick have the words of Tarryn’s best friend. Carina Silva told the jury in Winchester Tarryn became a “hollow shell” after suffering abuse at the hands of her husband. She said Tarryn started drinking herself to sleep after she claimed Chris Trybus raped her. But Carina Silva was accused of lying - of making up some of her evidence. And she was challenged on why, if she was so concerned about Tarryn, she hadn’t gone to the police sooner.Subscribe via thecrimedesk.comFollow us on TikTok @DailyMailCrimeEmail us thetrial@dailymail.comWhatsApp us +447796657512 (start your message with ‘Trial’) Presenter: Caroline Cheetham and Nick FaggeActors: Katy, Tippi Willard and Lucy RyanProducer: Chelsey RanoreEditor: Chelsey RanoreCreative Director: Caroline CheethamProduction Manager: Vittoria Cecchini A Daily Mail production. In this episode Caroline and Nick have the evidence from two senior medical experts who say the injuries on Tarryn Baird’s body were unlikely to be self inflicted. The UKs leading expert in bruises also said the marks on her abdomen were similar to injuries she’d seen in car crashes. And a forensic pathologist said the chances of Tarryn being able to inflict them on herself were “vanishingly small”.Subscribe via thecrimedesk.comFollow us on TikTok @DailyMailCrimeEmail us thetrial@dailymail.comWhatsApp us +447796657512 (start your message with ‘Trial’) Presenter: Caroline Cheetham and Nick FaggeActors: Beth Hale, Lucy Ryan, Rhys Hanson, Nia Moutionguissa, Siobhan Edge and Dan WatersProducer: Chelsey RanoreEditor: Chelsey RanoreCreative Director: Caroline CheethamProduction Manager: Vittoria Cecchini A Daily Mail production. In this episode we hear the devastating final words of Tarryn Baird in the hours and minutes before she took her own life. In a series of recordings played to the jury she can be heard asking for help with suicidal thoughts, but by the time police arrived at her home it was too late. We also heard another tape which the prosecution say is a secret recording of Tarryn being raped by her husband, Chris Trybus, but he says what’s on the tape is consensual sex. A number of the witnesses in court this week were openly emotional as they explained how they tried to help Tarryn. In this episode Caroline and Nick have the evidence which the jury were told casts doubt on some of abuse Tarryn Baird says she was suffering at the hands of her husband. It’s been claimed in court that Chris Trybus was out of the country when some of the attacks took place, and that Tarryn bought a camera which she said he planted to spy on her. But we’ve also heard from her domestic violence advisor that she had bruises and she was too afraid to leave him. In this episode Caroline and Nick have the medical evidence from Tarryn Baird’s GP who she saw or spoke to over 100 times in two years. The notes showed she reported repeated beatings, assaults with a rope and rape at the hands of her husband, Christopher Trybus. Time and time again she was urged to end the relationship, but she said she was terrified he would find her, and it was more dangerous to leave than to stay. He argues the allegations are lies, and during one month when he’d allegedly attacked her more than once, evidence proved he wasn’t even in the country.Subscribe via thecrimedesk.comFollow us on TikTok @DailyMailCrimeEmail us thetrial@dailymail.comWhatsApp us +447796657512 (start your message with ‘Trial’) Presenter: Caroline Cheetham and Nick FaggeProducer: Chelsey RanoreCreative Director: Caroline CheethamProduction Manager: Vittoria Cecchini A Daily Mail production. In this special update episode Caroline and Nick have an insight into what Christopher Trybus will say in his defence in this trial. He claims his wife made up allegations of domestic violence and coercive control, and far from abusing Tarryn Baird he cherished her deeply. He will also say her death was not a deliberate suicide attempt, but a cry for help which went wrong. Was a woman driven to kill herself after being allegedly abused by her husband? That is the question at the centre of a landmark trial which Caroline and Nick will be covering in a new Trial UK series. In this episode we hear that Tarryn Baird was 34 when she was found hanged in her garage - the prosecution say she killed herself because she was desperate to escape the violent, controlling abuse her husband subjected her to - and that makes him responsible for her death. Christopher Trybus is facing charges of manslaughter, rape and coercive control. He denies the charges and says the allegations are false. A jury will now decide. In this episode Caroline and Jack reveal the catalogue of police blunders which may have left the serial killer Steve Wright free to murder five women in Ipswich and raises questions about whether his latest victim, Vicky Hall, could have been saved too. The podcast starts, the presenters introduce themselves and then immediately say, "we'll be back in a second..." and it is straight into adverts. I understand the need to pay for some productions with ads but this approach is extremely poor. No thanks. It is just easier to unsubscibe.
It really is time to put this podcast out using a thumbnail image that relates to the actual case.
can the thumbnail for this podcast be changed? it is no longer the trial of Lucy Letby.
can the thumbnail for this podcast be changed?
This has been so difficult to listen to. Why was this ever allowed to be taken to court?
such a confusing episode, it sounds like they've either repeated a lot of info or edited twice the same content?

the music is annoying plus a 3rd of the podcast is adverts and a long long intro
great podcast
the James _______ murder trial? Baldwin? Borden?
the episodes are too short
Find this so interesting to listen to but the intermittent piano music is far too loud, really puts me off continuing to listen
Liz and Caroline thank you for all the hard work!!
My deepest condolences to all the families affected. Thank you all for bringing us this podcast. It must have been so difficult to hear the awful evidence day after day. Really interesting to hear the additional episodes eg explaining the law around court reporting etc.
why am I not shocked that the expert who works in the media skirts the question regarding sensationalist headlines and makes out like the media are wholly professional. 🙄
can u tell me has their been any similiar incidences since Lucy has been removed from the unit?
