In this episode I sit down with my amazing gal pal, Sierra, as we discuss a rather taboo and shunned topic that is the reality of so many fantastic mothers. The first time Sierra and I hung out she so casually yet vulnerably shared that she did not enjoy motherhood. In the days and weeks following that interaction my curiosity grew. I truly had so many questions and wanted to know what her experience with motherhood, as a woman who absolutely undeniably loves and adores her children but does not care for the experience and role as mother, has looked like. Sierra so vulnerably, graciously and bravely shared so much with us in this 82 minute discussion. At 11:22 Sierra opens up about how difficult motherhood has been for her.Sierras shares which parts of motherhood specifically she does not enjoy at 25:35.At 30:27 I share a very vulnerable time of when I temporarily lost my appetite to be a mother to my daughter. At 40:52 we explore how age can play a big part in how happy and fulfilled (or unhappy and unfulfilled) a woman may feel about her life when adding children into the mix.We talk about the imbalance in parental duties and how that may definitely contribute to the resentment and frustration a woman may feel about her role of being a mother at 55:56.Our conversation relating to the topic at hand ends at approximately 1 hour and 1 min (1:01:22). If you are choosing to stick along with us at this point, God bless you! It turns into a hilarious conversation about being vocal for the sake of not developing an auto immune disease, crashing out when necessary, and ultimately learning the importance of prioritizing friendships. Boy oh boy, do we hope you guys have enjoyed this episode! You can catch Sierra on her YouTube channel at @sierrashavonshines <3
This one is for the single moms! The single moms who walked away. The single moms who are navigating dating while parenting. The single moms who are pursuing their dreams while also maintaining the quality of their current reality. This is for us. This is for you. Klarque, a single mother to an exceptional little girl, joins me while we discuss our individual journeys of navigating single motherhood. It’s a fun one that you dont want to miss. We hope you enjoy.
In this episode we get to sit and chat on the couch with Lorena (Lo). The absolutely coolest mom to a 13 year old. It was nothing short of amazing listening to her recount her experience of motherhood up to this point. Recognizing moments where she knew she would fall short but continued to give her best anyways. We discuss triggers that appear in each our motherhood journeys that we've both had to sort through as to not (emotionally) bleed all over our children.Lastly, we share keeping it real with our daughters- always sharing where we're at so that they're always able to recognize the humanity in us and not just see us "mom" the never ending giver. It gets messy, it's beautiful, it's exhausting, it's funny and you doubt yourself. You have a tiny version of you walking outside in the world constantly mirroring you. Its an overall listening journey of the contradictory and balancing act that is motherhood.
In this episode I sit down with my good friend, Domanique, as she shares the twists and turns that her birth took. Going from a natural and holistic birthing center experience to transferring to the hospital and having an unplanned cesarean she shares all the ways it may have changed the landscape of her postpartum experience. We discuss our love lives, the hard lessons we've learned, loving on our shadow selves and so much more!
Hi beauties! Come join me and my friends as we discuss unlearning motherhood and relearning womanhood as we navigate through our individual journeys together! Let's talk about all the taboo topics like making the decision to not lose your sexiness in motherhood to breaking cycles in how your parent your children to finding our confidence and voice in postpartum to being radically unapologetic about taking much needed alone time and space from our children. We're doing it all. We can't wait to share this special project with you- coming June 17th!
