President Adams warns Congress that the US needs to Respond to France's diplomatic break with the US. Congress fails to unite around a single response. Adams sends a three man commission to France. Congress gets distracted having to expel Senator Blount for conspiring with Britain. During these arguments, Congressman Roger Griswold uses a cane to attack Congressman Matthew Lyon on the House floor.
