Un tronc d’arbre monumental percé de flèches en bronze a trouvé son nom et son inspiration auprès de Saint Sébastien, une véritable obsession pour De Bruyckere. « C’est comme si les flèches ne le blessaient pas, alors qu’elles transpercent son corps ». De Pasolini, nous passons à l’œuvre de l’artiste allemand de la Renaissance Lucas Cranach et sa Salomé qui, impassible, porte la tête coupée de Jean-Baptiste. « L’absence d’une tête dans mon œuvre n’a jamais parlé d’une telle manière », déclare-t-il.
