If God would only do this or that…or perform some sort of miracle to prove His existence… then I’d believe! If you’ve not said that yourself, I’m sure you’ve heard that a time or two from your unbelieving friends. But as we’ll learn today on According to the Scriptures a miracle-based faith both displeases and dishonors God! A much better route to take is a faith that’s based in God’s Word and His promises. Pastor Damian Kyle will explain as he has another look at the Healing of the Nobleman’s Son in John chapter four.

As believers there is great freedom that we enjoy in Christ. But we need to realize that there’s also great responsibility to love! Our liberties have the potential of stumbling a weaker brother. So at times we may need to put aside a particular liberty out of love and concern for others. Pastor Damian Kyle addresses that and more as we turn to First Corinthians chapter eight.

We have great liberty in Christ, but does that mean anything goes? Maybe you’ve heard some of your friends excuse their wrong behavior, thinking that’s the case. Our salvation is a free gift from God and isn’t obtained by works or legalistic rules. However, as we’re about to see, Christian freedom and Christian responsibility go hand in hand.

It really is sad to see how lightly marriage is taken these days. The divorce rate, the laws that are in place, and even the living together prior to marriage just goes to show how far we’ve declined as a society. Today on According to the Scriptures we’ll see that marriage matters and divorce should be a rarity.

With that said, the Lord also gives some a gift of celibacy and calls them to remain single for a lifetime.

As believers we have daily choices and decisions to make and at times we can think of a chapter and verse that tells us exactly what to do. But there are also certain things that would fall in the bucket of our Christian liberties. As we’ll discover today that doesn’t necessarily mean we should do it. Before Paul the apostle would exercise a liberty he would put it through a grid. Pastor Damian Kyle will draw our attention to that to help us arrive at the very best decisions in life.
