Description
Goddess in Training is a podcast about what it really looks like to live by your intuition — even when it’s messy, uncertain, or completely off-script. Hosted by Sarah Stevenson, these are unfiltered conversations and personal stories about following inner nudges, making bold choices, and learning to trust yourself in a world that teaches you not to. It’s not always graceful, but it’s real. If you’re craving deeper self-trust, grounded wisdom, and the kind of honesty that makes you exhale — you’re in the right place.

In this solo episode, I reflect on thirty-six consecutive weeks of podcasting—including recording during hospitalization and a long physical healing journey—and share why I’m taking a short, intentional pause. I speak about intuition, devotion versus productivity, divine partnership, and how my work as a Transition Doula informs the way I’m holding this moment. In this episode, I explore:* What consistency looks like when it’s rooted in devotion, not extraction* Recording and publishing while hospitalized with necrotizing fasciitis* How intuition has shaped my work, relationships, and healing* Why availability—not effort—is the foundation of divine partnership* Serving as my own Transition Doula during a major life threshold* Why pausing can be an act of care, not disappearance🎵 Music credit:Intro and outro music: Madre Ayahuasca by ArkawaUsed with permission. My breath deepened. It was as if her nervous system spoke to mine, reminding it how to rest.Robyn’s path to breathwork began in 2020, during the stillness of lockdown on a 200-acre farm with a river running through it. She started walking, then added yoga, and finally found a 30-day breathwork challenge online. Ninety days later, the world looked different. The anxiety she had carried since childhood began to soften, and the breath that had always been with her suddenly became her greatest teacher. That curiosity led her all the way to Guatemala for breathwork facilitator training—an experience that opened a new level of healing and purpose. Now, she brings that same grounded presence into her work as a doula and prenatal yoga instructor, helping mothers build calm foundations through mantra and breath. She shared the story of her first birth client—a young woman carrying twins—who learned to anchor herself through deep, rhythmic breathing and simple mantras like “My breath is my anchor.” Even when plans changed and the birth became a C-section, the energy in the room remained peaceful. Both babies arrived healthy, calm, and breathing in sync with their mother. We talked, too, about discomfort—how breath doesn’t erase it but helps us move through it. Robyn said, “Breath is the tool that helps me navigate discomfort rather than bury it.” It’s the bridge between what feels unbearable and what’s already healing inside us.By the end of our conversation, the space between words felt sacred. The room was quieter. The air itself seemed to hum.Breath is the thread that ties every moment together—birth, death, awakening, surrender. It’s our first language and our last.If you’ve been feeling untethered lately, this episode is your reminder that peace is only ever one inhale away. With love and breath,SarahGoddess in Training is a reader-supported publication. She calls herself the Rogue Therapist, which already tells you she’s not following the traditional model of mental health care. Then I learned about the Mind Spa she’s building on Long Island—a place where you can receive therapy, energy healing, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, sound baths, and even vitamin infusions all under one roof.Kristina’s approach is rooted in the belief that healing is multidimensional—mental, physical, energetic, and spiritual. It’s not just about talking through trauma; it’s about treating the whole person. In this conversation, we talk about what it means to build a business guided by intuition, the courage it takes to trust that inner knowing even when the path feels uncertain, and how to reframe healing as an act of self-investment. Kristina shares her own story of navigating autoimmune illness during COVID and how it led her to create a new model of integrative care—one that moves beyond the couch and into community. Some of my favorite parts of our conversation:✨ Kristina’s “emotional ladder” for shifting from grief to gratitude✨ How she uses EFT, EMDR, and the law of attraction in her clinical practice✨ The delicate balance between fear and faith when building something new✨ And her dream of bringing Mind Spas to communities around the world (including maybe one in the Blue Ridge Mountains!)We also talk about detoxing from overstimulation, the role of intuition in therapy, and how gratitude and joy exist on the same frequency as manifestation. If you’ve been craving a reminder that transformation can be practical and mystical—that investing in yourself always pays you back—this episode is for you. With love,SarahGoddess in Training is a reader-supported publication. It’s not medical advice. Please partner with a qualified practitioner for your unique body, medications, and risk profile. When I first found Claire Yaseed’s writing on Substack, something ancient in me exhaled. Her words didn’t feel like information so much as remembering—like a hand at my back, steadying me in the doorway between worlds. Today’s conversation traces her long, spiraling path: from being deeply medicalized as a child and young adult, to a vision in a college classroom, to the jungles of Colombia and the elders who received her as a daughter. It’s a story of illness unraveling into initiation, and of a woman listening, fiercely, until her body became home again. What I love about Claire’s teaching is the way she bridges. She honors lineage, ceremony, and the intelligence of the plants—and she’s also studying inside Western frameworks, learning physiology from the inside out. We also explored the “cosmic joke” of free will. You know that feeling when life isn’t nudging but assigning you—sometimes inconveniently—to your path? Claire names it plainly: we can choose to align with the laws of nature, or not. The consequences show up in our bodies, relationships, and ecosystems. I related so much to this: the way intuition can be terrifying in the moment, yet the only compass that keeps the road straight. One of my favorite parts of this conversation is Claire’s grounded way of speaking about masculine and feminine. Not as performance or polarity cosplay, but as biology and coherence—brains, bones, hormones, and how women’s nervous systems interface with mystery. In the jungle, Claire was told that women often need less medicine to do the same spiritual work. That landed for me. It also reframed how I engage with men in my life—fathers, colleagues, friends—not just romance. And then there’s hormonal birth control. We talk about it with compassion and context—how it emerged as a lifeline for agency, and also how it can alter attraction, libido, pheromone signaling, and our ability to read compatibility. Claire doesn’t moralize; she gives us back options: repair the body, learn to track fertility, develop relationship with plant allies, move at a pace that feels safe. Fear is normal, she says—and strategic. It sharpens discernment about who has access to our fertile bodies.Which brings me to Claire’s Natural Birth Control Series. If you’re curious (or nervous), this offering is medicine: preparing to transition off the pill or IUDs without shocking your system; embodied cycle tracking that’s actually doable; and plant allies for conscious contraception, including what to call on in that golden window after ovulation. Even if you’ve been off hormonal birth control for years—or you’re in perimenopause—education heals timelines. It repairs that “soul-fracture” where we were taught to mistrust our bodies.I’ll be there—and yes, I’m trying to get my daughter to come, too. Because some teachings are best received in circle, where wisdom echoes through the room and settles into the bones. If you feel the tug, follow it. That tug is the body’s “yes.”With love,SarahP.S. If you’re new here: I’m building a body of work that treats your intuition like the wise elder it is—podcast, essays, and experiences that help you hear it more clearly. My friend and today’s guest, Tamara Pincus, is one of those people.Tamara and I first crossed paths in the kink community many years ago, and I’ve always admired her courage to be fully visible—not just in her personal life, but in the way she shows up professionally. As a therapist, she serves people who are polyamorous, kinky, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, or simply searching for a space where nothing about their identity needs to be hidden. In our conversation, Tamara shared the story of how she stumbled into sex therapy after admitting to a career counselor, “I like to talk about sex.” From there, she found her way into a field that desperately needed someone like her—someone who understood from the inside what it feels like to long for a therapist who doesn’t see your identity or desires as problems to fix. What struck me most in this conversation is how often healing shows up in the places we least expect it. Kink, for example, is frequently portrayed as deviant, but for many people it’s a way to work through trauma, reclaim power, or experience joy and play in their bodies. Polyamory, often misunderstood as simply “more sex,” is in reality a path that requires deep intentionality, emotional care, and an honest confrontation with jealousy.Tamara also reminds us that sexuality is more than personal—it can be political. In a world weighed down by late-stage capitalism, systemic oppression, and burnout, pleasure itself becomes resistance. Allowing ourselves joy, intimacy, and play is a radical act that strengthens us for the work of building a better world. This is not a light conversation—but it is an expansive one. Tamara offers us a window into how healing, intimacy, and authenticity weave together, and how living “out loud” can open doors for others to do the same.I left this interview reminded that our bodies, our desires, and our truths are not inconveniences to be managed—they are portals to wholeness.✨ I’d love to hear from you: What resonated most for you in this conversation? Have you ever experienced healing or transformation in a place where you didn’t expect it?Love,Sarah✨ If you’re new here: welcome to Goddess in Training, a space where we explore intuition, healing, and the many ways we return to our wholeness.
