For more than 30 years, I've worked as a licensed accountant, testing whether the numbers someone hands me actually hold up. In this episode, I bring that same posture to the biggest claim in Christianity, that a man who was dead on Friday was alive on Sunday.Watch the full episodeRead the blog postI start at a Thanksgiving table, with a son asking his dad a question the dad doesn't have an answer for, and open the file from there. We look at Paul's letter to the Corinthians, the earliest written record of the resurrection, where he tells you exactly how to prove his own religion false. Then I walk through four lines of historical evidence: how early the claim actually is, how embarrassing the details are, why the empty tomb mattered in that specific city, and why the people closest to it never took the easy way out, even facing death. I also give the leading alternative theories, swoon, wrong tomb, hallucination, and legend, an honest hearing.By the end, the question isn't whether I've proven anything. It's what changes in your life if this is true, how you talk to a doubting kid without panicking, and how you stand at a grave.Scripture referenced: 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 1 Corinthians 15:14-19, 1 Corinthians 15:20, 1 Corinthians 15:58, 1 Peter 3:15, John 7:5, Acts 26:26, Luke 24:36-43.Ready to make a decision? I've learned to notice that little sound people make right before they say "I'm fine." I've sat behind the same kind of desk for 30 years, and I see the folder every time, bills piling up, accounts quietly drained, stress nobody mentioned out loud. We walk into church and do the exact same thing. Somebody taught us that protecting the room matters more than telling the truth.Watch the full episodeRead the blog postThis week I read straight through Psalm 13 and Psalm 88 to show that God kept the hard songs in his own hymnbook. The Bible is full of hymns that are really just complaints. David does four things in six verses: he speaks straight to God, tells him the truth, asks for something specific, then remembers who God is. Psalm 88 never gets there. It ends in total darkness, and God left it that way on purpose. That means you're allowed to bring your own messy folder to him. Lament isn't weak. It's faith. It means you still believe somebody is listening.I keep the response simple. Say one true sentence out loud. Write it in a notebook. Tell a friend. If you're still in the dark tomorrow, come back and say it again. God wrote these songs himself, so he can handle your anger and your grief. He even kept a psalm that ends in darkness in the hymnal, so no honest sufferer would ever have to fake it. We can stop performing fine. We can tell God the truth and still call it worship.Takeaways:We're taught to say "I'm fine" before we're taught to tell the truth, and it hides real pain.We turn honest prayers into press releases, tidy and technically true, with the blood wiped off.God kept the raw, angry laments in scripture on purpose, so we're allowed to bring the same kind of prayer. We treat complaint as disrespect, but lament is actually an act of faith, since it keeps the conversation with God alive.I use David's four moves when I pray: speak straight to God, tell him the truth, ask for something specific, then remember who he is.Stop trying to fix people so fast. Sit with them, say "that's terrible," and just stay present.I'm a natural fixer, and I've had to learn that silence and steady presence help more than a quick answer ever does.Jesus quoted a lament, Psalm 22, with his own dying words on the cross, so honest pain directed at God is not beneath anyone.Links referenced in this episode:truthunveiledwithralph.com/decision
Sixty-plus episodes in, and I had to admit something to you today. I've never once taught on the Holy Spirit. Not one time. So today I'm getting honest about why, and what it's cost me.This is Truth Unveiled with Ralph, where we look at faith without the spin. Here's what we got into today:I confess the gap in sixty-plus episodes and why I think it's bigger than just meI read John 14:15-27, where Jesus promises His disciples a Helper the night before the crossI walk through three ways I've personally turned the Holy Spirit into a feeling, someone else's problem, and a mascot, using my own accounting practice as the mirrorI dig into the Greek word Parakletos, the one called alongside you, and tell you about a widow I sat with in my office who taught me what that actually looks likeI get into Romans 8:26-27, the Spirit interceding with groanings too deep for words, for the mornings you sit down to pray with nothingI give you five practical places this changes things: your prayer life, a decision you're stuck on, your marriage, learning to tell conviction from condemnation, and one sentence to say before your feet hit the floor Monday morningI close with a prayer, and an invitation if you've never asked Jesus to send you that helperIf today's episode stirred something in you, I'd love to hear about it. “Fully Known, Fully Loved” – The Conversation That Changed Everything explores what happens when we stop hiding the parts of ourselves we’re afraid others will reject. In this episode, I reflect on the story of the woman at the well who intentionally came to draw water at noon, away from the crowds, and encountered Jesus instead. He already knew her story, including the messy and painful parts she likely wanted to hide, yet He met her with truth, grace, and love.I explore what it means to be fully known and still fully loved by God. So often, we believe that if people knew everything about us, they would walk away, and we can carry that same fear into our relationship with God. But Jesus shows us that we don't have to hide behind our past, our mistakes, or the image we try to maintain. We can bring our whole selves into His presence and discover that His love is not based on pretending to be someone we're not.Read today's blog articleCheck out the full podcast episode hereI also want to encourage you to consider what you might still be hiding and what it could look like to finally step into the freedom of being known. When we stop running from our story and allow God's truth to meet us there, shame begins to lose its power. You don't have to be perfect to be loved, and you don't have to hide your wounds to belong. You can be fully known, fully loved, and completely transformed by the grace of Jesus.Takeaways:We all have parts of ourselves that we may try to keep hidden from the world.Being fully known and fully loved is possible through the grace of God.The woman at the well reminds us that Jesus meets us with love, truth, and grace—even when we feel ashamed of our past.We often fear that revealing our true selves will cause others to reject us, but God’s love is not based on our perfection. We don’t have to perform or pretend to earn the love we already have in Christ.Bringing our hidden struggles into the light can become a pathway to healing, freedom, and transformation.Letting a trusted, safe person see the real you can be an important step toward experiencing genuine connection and freedom.Links referenced in this episode:https://www.truthunveiledwithralph.com/decision 🎧 Join the Truth Unveiled Community on PatreonIf you’ve been encouraged by today’s message, I’d love to invite you to become part of the Truth Unveiled with Ralph community on Patreon! The Blessing and the Wound: What You Carry Out of the Fight explores those moments when the consequences of your choices finally catch up with you and there seems to be nowhere left to run. In this episode, I reflect on Jacob’s life and the night he found himself alone, wrestling with God. Jacob had spent much of his life relying on his own plans and schemes, but this encounter changed everything. By morning, he walked away with both a blessing and a limp. Through Jacob’s story, I explore what it means to come out of a difficult season carrying both the evidence of God’s faithfulness and the scars of the struggle. Jacob received a new name and a new identity, but he was not unchanged by the fight. Sometimes, God meets us in the moments when we can no longer rely on our own strength, and the transformation we experience may come with wounds that become part of our story.Read today's blog articleCheck out the full podcast episode hereIf you’re carrying scars from a battle you never wanted to fight, I want to remind you that your wounds do not mean you lost. The blessing and the wound can both serve a purpose. What you carry out of the fight may become a reminder of where God met you, how He changed you, and the grace that carried you through.Takeaways:Facing the consequences of your choices can be difficult, but sometimes reckoning is necessary for transformation. In your darkest moments, you may find yourself wrestling with your past, your fears, and your relationship with God.Sometimes, receiving a blessing means confronting the weaknesses and wounds you would rather avoid.God often meets you in the middle of your struggle, reminding you that grace can leave you changed.Jacob’s story shows you that you can cling to God instead of relying on your own plans to fix everything. The wounds you carry are not always a sign of shame or defeat; sometimes, they are evidence of growth and a life-changing encounter with God.Links referenced in this episode:truthunveiledwithralph.com/decision🎧 Join the Truth Unveiled Community on PatreonIf you’ve been encouraged by today’s message, I’d love to invite you to become part of the Truth Unveiled with Ralph community on Patreon!
