In this episode, we’re diving into one of California’s most disturbing and complicated cold cases: the Keddie Cabin 28 murders. In April 1981, 36-year-old Sue Sharp and three teenagers—her son John, his friend Dana, and her 12-year-old daughter Tina—were attacked inside a small rental cabin in the remote mountain town of Keddie. Only three young boys in the home survived. What followed was a series of investigative missteps that still shocks people today: a contaminated crime scene, a missing child who wasn’t noticed for hours, ignored confessions, mishandled evidence, and key suspects who slipped out of town just days later. If you’re looking for a case that’s as frustrating as it is haunting, the Keddie murders remain one of the most chilling examples of a community failed by the system and of investigators still fighting to set the record straight. Our Sponsors:* Check out PharmaNutra and use my code MAMA for a great deal: https://pharmanutra-us.com* Check out Secret Nature and use my code MAMA for a great deal: https://secretnature.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mamamystery/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In November of 1987, a young family in southern Illinois vanished from sight for just one day—and when police finally went to check their home, what they found inside would haunt the town of Ina forever.Keith and Elaine Dardeen were the kind of couple everyone in their small community knew and admired. They worked hard, sang in church, and were raising their 2-year-old son, Peter, while preparing to welcome a new baby girl. But behind their front door was a scene of unimaginable horror—one so brutal that even seasoned investigators said it was the worst they had ever witnessed.Elaine and little Peter were found beaten to death inside their trailer, tucked into bed as if someone wanted to hide the violence that had taken place. Elaine, seven months pregnant, had gone into labor during the attack—giving birth to a baby girl who lived only for moments before being killed as well.Keith, the husband and father, was missing—along with the family car. And within 24 hours, his body would be discovered in a nearby field, shot and mutilated in a way that defied all understanding.A loving family, wiped out for no apparent reason. No robbery. No known enemies. No clear motive. Just brutality, precision, and a killer who vanished without a trace. This is the story of the Dardeen family murders—one of the most horrifying and baffling unsolved cases in American history.

In this episode, we dive into one of California’s most haunting family stories — the Stayners of Merced. In 1972, seven-year-old Steven Stayner was kidnapped and held captive for seven years before bravely escaping and rescuing another child. Two decades later, his older brother Cary Stayner shocked the same community when he confessed to murdering four women near Yosemite National Park. This episode unpacks both halves of this tragic story — Steven’s abduction and survival, the years of trauma that followed, and the unraveling of Cary’s quiet life that led to the 1999 Yosemite murders. It’s a story about family, grief, and the thin line between victim and villain — a real-life Cain and Abel story written across generations. Our Sponsors:* Check out PharmaNutra and use my code MAMA for a great deal: https://pharmanutra-us.com* Check out Secret Nature and use my code MAMA for a great deal: https://secretnature.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mamamystery/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

referring to defense attorneys , since our law says they have a right to be represented at a trial, if no attorney was willing to represent Murdaugh, he never would have stood trial and been convicted.

Casey Anthony could have agreed to plead to lesser charges but the jury could only find her guilty of what she was charged with - I have always believed that prosecution overcharged her based on actual evidence.
