Not every plant wants to be a Monstera. In this episode, we’re joined by Machi and diving into the weird, overlooked, and downright strange plants that don’t usually make it into trendy plant collections. From funky growth habits and unusual textures to plants that look like they belong on another planet, we’re talking about the species that make people stop and say, “What is that?”We explore why these plants stay under the radar, what makes them special to grow, and why collecting “weird” plants can be more rewarding than chasing the latest hype. We’re back for part two of our walking tour through the Como Park Conservatory with Machi and Julian — and this time, we’re exploring some of its most peaceful and inspiring spaces. From there, we pause by the koi pond, where flashes of color drift beneath the surface, before ending our visit in the Bonsai room, where decades of care and artistry are captured in miniature form.
Grab your headphones and take a walk with us through the historic Como Park Conservatory in St. Paul! In part one of this two-part series, we explore the lush tropical dome, share our first impressions, and talk about what makes this century-old glasshouse such a special place for plant lovers. I love this!! I'm pretty ADHD 😅 (dx ADD back in the day, but yes it's all "ADHD" these days) and this convo speaks to me. I did planty things while listening, so thanks for the body double. also... I tried getting into tropicals the last year and realized my ADHD doesn't love that, so I'm getting back into my first loves... succulents and hoyas ❤️🤣
