What does it take to keep showing up to paint, week after week, for more than 40 years? In this episode of ArtSpace: In Conversation, Taryn Utiger sits down with artist Tony Rumball to talk about The Painters — a remarkable collective of artists who have been meeting weekly for nearly half a century. They chat about the exhibition itself, the discipline and friendship that has sustained the group for decades, and what it means to make art as part of a long, shared practice. Tony also reflects on his own life as an artist, and learning from the late, great Tom Kreisler. This conversation is a celebration of art, community, and the power of simply continuing to paint.

Karen Phillips is a local Taranaki artist who specialises in Mandela work. She absorbs herself in her art at her home in Bell Block and works also with special needs students at a variety of schools across the region. In this episode, Karen shares how she first started and her art journey to date.

Through My Veins They Run - is an intimate and evocative exhibition by emerging artist Donna Mann. Working in acrylics, Mann creates striking animal portraits that reflect her personal journey as a neurodivergent woman who has endured and survived challenging times. Arno creates with planning, measuring and precision work, while Dimphy plans a starting point and then lets intuition direct her creative practices.
