4 The Shepherd Sheep

Psalm 23 isn't about a hired hand—it's the Shepherd Sheep speaking: "The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need." He makes us lie in green pastures, leads by quiet waters, restores our soul. Even in death's shadow, "You are with me."He became a sheep so we'd never fear distance.

True shepherding isn't weekly sermons to silent rows. It's presence: walking valleys with the weary, sharing meadows with the flock. Jesus doesn't project His calling—He knows who He is. He cultivates the Father's grace, one sheep at a time, at life's crossroads.

When we meet other believers, one of the first things we often ask is, “Who’s your pastor?” But that question reveals something: we’ve come to orbit church life around a man instead of the Messiah. In the New Testament, there was no “lead pastor.”

There is only one Great Shepherd of the Sheep—Jesus Christ. Yet what’s astounding is our Shepherd became one of us. He didn’t descend as a distant ruler or appear in untouchable glory. He entered the fold through the same door we did — through birth, through humanity, through weakness.
“This was… alive,” one woman said, her voice trembling with emotion. “I’ve never felt so connected to God and to others in a church service before.” Another man nodded in agreement. “In my church, everything is so structured—every minute planned out. But here, it felt like the Holy Spirit was leading us. I didn’t even realize how much I was missing this.” Visit Thegracevinepodcast.com

Jesus cries on the last day of the feast: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John explains: this is the Holy Spirit, poured out post-cross (John 7:39). Echoing Ezekiel 47’s life-giving river from the temple and Zechariah 14’s waters from Jerusalem, Jesus reveals He’s the new temple—believers now carry this flow.
Perfect Love

Perfect Love

Every Christian is invited to live a life unencumbered by fear and guilt, and overflowing with gratitude and love. This is not wishful thinking; it is the fruit of God’s **perfect** love and the certainty of our eternal security in Christ.
Today, we’re unpacking a passage that Jesus spoke early in His ministry — Matthew 5:17 through 20. It’s one of those passages that reshapes how we see the entire Bible.
John 10:27-29 in the Amplified Bible:“The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”Hear that? Your salvation isn’t fragile—it’s locked in the mightier-than-all grip of the Father and the Son. When you believed, God didn’t just forgive you; He welcomed you fully into His kingdom right then. Colossians 1:13 declares in the Amplified: “He has rescued us and continually draws us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and He has transferred us [out of the kingdom of darkness] to His own beloved Son’s kingdom.” You’re a citizen now, not on trial—rescued, transferred, secure.
For years, I found myself stuck in a pattern where I’d try to do what was right, only to fall back into old habits or mistakes. Each time I’d believe that my failure had caused a separation from God and that I would have to face the consequences.I would feel the guilty weight of failure, cry out for help, then believe I had been restored in my spiritual relationship, only to find myself back at the beginning again. It was exhausting, like running in circles with no lasting change.Key Scriptures to Encourage Your Heart* “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17* “God made us alive with Christ, forgave us all our sins, and nailed them to the cross.” — Colossians 2:13-14* “Your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3* “Jesus, the great high priest... sympathizes with our weaknesses.” — Hebrews 4:14-16* “Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest.” — Hebrews 4:11* “Fix your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, being transformed from glory to glory.” — Hebrews 12:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18* “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” — Colossians 1:27
