We’re back with That’s Entertainment with Chris Brown and Mike Nichols. For our first episode of 2026, we’re diving into the biggest entertainment news of the year: the 98th Academy Awards nominations.Be sure to tune in as we share our thoughts—delivered in a way only two people who definitely aren’t the people you’re thinking of can.----Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/That's Entertainment is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2025
Welcome to That’s Entertainment.Today we’re talking about a podcast that proves you can hold two very real truths at once: life can be messy, funny, exhausting, and ordinary... and it can also be deeply unsettling. Murders & Minivans, hosted by Tali and Stephanie, has found a lane all its own by blending true crime with the lived reality of motherhood, family life, and the daily chaos that comes with trying to keep everything — and everyone — moving. This isn’t just a show about criminal cases. It’s a show about perspective. The kind that comes from school runs, packed schedules, emotional labour, and the quiet instinct to look at every story and ask: how did this happen, who was failed, and what does it say about the world we’re raising our kids in? Murders and Minivans covers everything from notorious murders to overlooked crimes, while also making space for thoughtful discussion about parenting and modern family life. And maybe that’s why the title works so well. Murders & Minivans sounds a little tongue-in-cheek at first, but it gets at something real: the collision between suburban routine and the darker stories that fascinate, haunt, and sometimes even warn us. It’s true crime with a grounded voice — conversational, reflective, and shaped by the realities of everyday women navigating a world that asks them to be caretakers, chauffeurs, protectors, and somehow still stay curious. So for this episode of Thats Entertainment, we’re shining a light on Tali and Stephanie — two hosts who have turned that unusual mix of candour, crime, and parenting perspective into a show that feels both personal and compelling. This is Murders & Minivans, and yes — it is entertainment, but it’s also a conversation about fear, family, and the stories we can’t stop trying to understand.---Follow Murders and Minivans Podcast: Substack: https://substack.com/@murdersminivans?Apple Podcast: https://tr.ee/AVboFiza1mSpotify: https://tr.ee/7b59OlSEPb---Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2026

Welcome to That’s Entertainment! The place where legends don’t just visit… they pull up a chair, tell the truth, and sometimes… sing it.Today, we welcome an artist whose voice doesn’t just fill a room — it transforms it. A voice that has travelled from the intimate jazz clubs of Toronto… to the bright lights of New York and Los Angeles… and into the hearts of audiences around the world. You may know him as part of one of the most iconic vocal groups ever to come out of this country — a group that redefined what the human voice could do. As a member of The Nylons, he helped create a sound that was timeless, daring, and unmistakably cool. But tonight is about the man behind that harmony.Because after decades of chart-topping albums, standing ovations, and a career that continues to evolve in remarkable ways, he’s stepping into the spotlight in his most personal way yet.His new show, Up On The Roof: An Evening with Micah Barnes, isn’t just a concert — it’s a conversation. One man. One piano. And a lifetime of stories told through song.Audiences will hear the originals that defined his solo career… the jazz and blues standards that shaped his musical DNA… and yes, the songs that first made millions fall in love with that unmistakable sound. Now, as he brings his Up On The Roof tour across the country — including right here in Alberta. In Calgary on March 7th at the Jazz Vocal Workshop, and March 8th at the Polaris Threatre in Rocky View County. Then Later in March, he’ll be in Edmonton on March 13th at the SING! Festival, and on the 15th of March at the  Indigenous Voices Master Class with Donita Large – Fringe Theatre Arts Barns, Edmonton. He’s inviting audiences into something rare: intimacy. Authenticity. And the chance to truly meet the artist behind the legend. This is That’s Entertainment with the incredible Micah Barnes.----Purchase Tickets To MIcah's Upcoming Shows:Website: https://www.micahbarnes.com/March 7th Calgary Show:https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-art-of-vocal-jazz-performance-a-masterclass-with-micah-barnes-tickets-1982307854154?utm-campaign=social&utm-content=attendeeshare&utm-medium=discovery&utm-term=listing&utm-source=cp&aff=ebdsshcopyurl March 8th Calgary Show: https://www.showpass.com/micah-barnes/March 13th Edmonton Show: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/singprairiessociety/2066392March 15th Edmonton Show: https://singersplayground.com/indigenous-voices-master-class/----Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainmnet is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2026
That's Pokemon!

That's Pokemon!

2025-11-0101:00:17

Ladies and gentlemen, trainers and casual button-mashers, welcome to a very special episode of That’s Entertainment with No, Not Them! — the only show bold enough to ask the questions no one’s been brave enough to face since 1996… like:“What is a Pokémon, really?”“Why do ten-year-olds keep getting sent into the wilderness with wild electric mice?”And of course — “Why can’t I fit more than six of them in my backpack?”That’s right! Today, Mike and I are diving Poké-Ball-first into the cultural phenomenon that turned our childhoods into a lifelong addiction to catching imaginary animals. From Japan to Johto, from Pikachu plushies to Pokémon GO-induced traffic accidents — we’re covering it all. And, we’ve got reason to celebrate — because the brand-new Nintendo Switch game Pokémon Z-A has dropped! The game that promises new adventures, new Pokémon, and the same excuse to ignore your real-life responsibilities for 300 more hours! We’ll explore how Pokémon went from a humble Game Boy cartridge to an empire of movies, memes, and more merch than the Vatican gift shop. And throughout the episode, we’ll attempt the impossible — to answer that eternal question: Who is the best Pokémon? Will it be the adorable Pikachu? The majestic Charizard? Or, let’s be honest… will it just be the one I picked randomly. We will answer all that and so poke-more, right now on That’s Entertainment. ************************************************* Support The Show Today: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/support-the-showJoin The Show: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/be-part-of-the-show ***************************************************Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2025

Welcome to another edition of That’s Entertainment. As you have come to expect, I’m Chris Brown, and I don't dance or sing—I just judge choreography and vocal performances from the couch with Cheeto dust on my shirt. And joining me as always, is Mike NicholsWe’re digging through the sequinned performance of the 2025 Tony Awards. Then we head to the multiplex for the summer blockbuster season, where Marvel and DC are once again battling for your wallet, your attention, and the last two remaining original ideas. Marvel’s bringing Fantastic Four, while DC fires back with Superman. And finally, we’ve got summer recommendations. Movies, shows, books—yes, actual books—and a foolproof excuse to skip your cousin’s outdoor wedding. And Today we are talking about the one night of show business where Broadway dims its lights and celebrates their own! The Tony Awards! The Nominations are out, and we will talk about the highs, the lows, and the surprises. Then we will answer the question on most people's minds. Did Diddy Do It? Welcome to another edition of That’s Entertainment, with Chris Brown and MIke NicholsToday on the show, we will be breaking down the age-old question as to whether you should judge a book by its cover. The new Minecraft Movie is a massive success financially, but universally panned when the trailer dropped last year. Are moviegoers too quick to judge based on trailers? Then we will be discussing TV networks giving the heave-ho to some of the shows and renewing others. And talking about any shows that were cancelled too soon? Or gone on too long? Then we promised last episode that we would break down the JUNO’s the Highs the Lows, and Anne Murray, being all Anne Murray. Then we will wrap up with a quick spotlight on what's coming up on Broadway, and if there are any shows that Mike is looking to take in this year. ***************************************************Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/That's Entertainment with No, Not Them is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2025
Good evening, music lovers, and welcome to That’s Entertainment! Today, we’ve got something special on the tracks—and I do mean tracks in every sense of the word! We are chatting with Vocalist for The Brother Bicker Band Jeremy Hrdlicka . Now, if you’re sitting there thinking, 'Hold on, didn't we already talk about the Brother Bicker Band's album Another Kind of Train back in 2023?'—well, guess what? You’re absolutely right. And we loved chatting with the band about that release. But here’s the kicker: Spectra Music Group— the indie powerhouse out of New York—loved the album so much, that they’ve signed the band and are giving Another Kind of Train a second life, this time with a fresh release on May 2nd, 2025.But this isn’t just a reissue—it’s a reintroduction. Think of it as the deluxe edition with a passport. Spectra’s getting the Brother Bicker Band on track for a much wider journey, heading straight into U.S. and European markets, and bringing their Alberta-born sound to the world stage. The new version of Another Kind of Train still features the original ten tracks recorded with Christian Stonehouse at OCL Studios—songs that were born out of years of live shows, grit, and that little thing called a global pandemic. But now, fans will also be treated to two brand-new additions: the hauntingly timely 'Take My Gun,' and a powerful cover of Whiskey Myers’ ‘Stone,’ recorded by Kurtis Schultz at Blue Willow Studios. And get this—the new 'Stone' features a showstopping collaboration with Calgary’s own REVV52, led by the brilliant John Morgan. Add in some of Canada’s best guest musicians like Mitch Jay, Brendan Waters, and drummers Darryl Swart and Matt Dawe, and you've got yourself an album that doesn’t just revisit the past—it redefines it.So buckle up, because we’re hopping aboard Another Kind of Train—and trust me, this ride is just getting started. Stay with us!*************************************************** Pre-Order Another Kind of Train:https://orcd.co/brotherbickerbandhttps://brotherbicker.com/*************************************************** Support The Show Today: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/support-the-showJoin The Show: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/be-part-of-the-show ***************************************************Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2025

Today, we’ve got a guest whose year has been anything but ordinary—though he might tell you he’s trying to keep things just a little more manageable this time around.Joining us is none other than Jeffery Straker—a prairie-born storyteller with a piano, a passport, and apparently… a royal audience. Now, last year? Let’s just say Jeffery wasn’t walking—he was sprinting. Touring coast to coast, not once but multiple times, hitting the Maritimes twice and heading all the way out to the West Coast. Somewhere in between all that travel, he managed to pick up his first Canadian Folk Music Award—which, honestly, feels like the kind of thing you’d want to sit down and celebrate… but I’m guessing he had a flight to catch. And if that wasn’t surreal enough, his music also found its way into Buckingham Palace—yes, that Buckingham Palace—where none other than King Charles himself gave it a listen. I mean, most of us are happy if our playlist gets shared with a friend… Jeffery’s out here getting spins from royalty. He didn’t stop there. He made his debut in Japan, performing at Expo 2025 in Osaka—a trip that clearly left a mark, because he says he completely fell in love with the place. And just to round things out, he released a holiday album, A Very Prairie Christmas, bringing a bit of warmth to what was otherwise a whirlwind year.So after all that? It’s no surprise he’s easing into a lighter tour schedule this year—fewer miles, a little more breathing room, and a chance to really soak in the shows, especially across Saskatchewan, Alberta, and even a stop up north in Yellowknife this summer.Oh—and if his name sounds familiar beyond the stage, that’s because he’s also the voice behind “One Foot On Main Street,” the theme song of our sister show MuniCast. So Today, we’re slowing things down just enough to catch up with a man who’s been everywhere and has been heard by everyone, even a King. All that and more coming up on That’s Entertainment with Jeffery Straker.-----Follow Jeffery: Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/jeffery.straker.musicInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jefferystraker/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@UCLt41eISYNQvqkXtatPRUJg Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/climbinquickWebsite: https://www.jeffstraker.com/-----Listen To The Show: Apple: https://apple.co/3XwwXIvSpotify: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cross-border-interviewsYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/crossborderinterviewswithchrisbrown----Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment... is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2025
Welcome to That’s Entertainment with No, Not Them.. I’m Chris Brown — and no, not that one. At this point, my name is less an introduction and more a legal disclaimer.Today we’re talking the Oscars: the winners, the losers, and the snubs. Or as I like to call it, “famous people finding out that being adored by millions still isn’t enough.” Every year the Academy reminds us that no matter how successful you are, somewhere there’s still a room full of people in expensive clothing deciding you’re not quite moisturized enough for greatness. We’re also diving into the news of a Val Kilmer AI post-death movie, because apparently Hollywood has decided the best way to honor human creativity is to remove the human part. We used to worry robots would take over factories. Now they’re taking over prestige biopics. At this rate, the next Oscar winner will be a Dropbox folder with a publicist. Then there’s The Bachelorette, which has cancelled a season. A tragic loss for romance, rose farmers, and men who describe themselves as “an entrepreneur” because they once ordered ring lights in bulk. Somewhere, a mansion sits empty, a hot tub goes unused, and 28 men with podcast equipment are being forced to seek attention the old-fashioned way: online. We’re also stepping into the manosphere — yes, the manosphere — that magical corner of the internet where every guy who failed ninth-grade biology now thinks he can redesign civilization. It’s an incredible place. Every video is titled something like Why Modern Society Fears Alpha Truth, and the thumbnail is always a man pointing at a graph he absolutely does not understand. And finally, to restore our faith in performance, timing, and the human soul, we’re counting down the top three Catherine O’Hara performances. Which is impossible, because Catherine O’Hara has never given a bad performance in her life. She doesn’t act so much as arrive, elevate everyone around her, and leave the rest of the cast looking like community theater volunteers who won a raffle.Catherine O’Hara can do more with one stare than most actors can do with a trilogy, a dialect coach, and a six-month press tour about “the physicality of the role.”So today we’ve got insecure millionaires, AI necromancy, cancelled reality romance, the internet’s weirdest masculinity convention, and Catherine O’Hara being better at existing than the rest of us.For the next hour we’ll be doing what Hollywood does best: laughing through the collapse.-----Listen To The Show: Apple: https://apple.co/3XwwXIvSpotify: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cross-border-interviewsYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/crossborderinterviewswithchrisbrown----Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment... is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2025
Welcome back to That’s Entertainment! Today is one of the most important episodes of the year — not because of the Academy Awards themselves, but because it’s time for our annual Oscar prediction showdown. Now if you’ve been listening for a while, you know the history. Mike has somehow won four out of the last five years, which means one of two things: either he has an incredible understanding of the Academy… or he’s just really good at picking the movies that are obviously going to win and pretending it’s strategy.Meanwhile I’ll be once again attempting the comeback story. This is my Rocky montage moment. This is my underdog year. This is the year I claim I have a strategy… which usually means picking at least two nominees that absolutely no one else on Earth thinks will win.So here’s what we know going in: Mike will play it safe and pick the films that look like the obvious winners, I’l throw in at least a couple completely baffling wild card predictions, and by the end of the episode we’ll both be absolutely convinced we’re right.Only one of us will actually be right though.Let’s find out who’s taking home the gold this year.---Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2026
Today we welcome to show someone who doesn’t just sing the blues…. she lives them, lifts them, and turns them into something triumphant.Fresh off a brand-new 2026 JUNO Award nomination for Blues Album of the Year, the incredible Crystal Shawanda joins us with her latest release, Sing Pretty Blues — a record steeped in southern country soul and the timeless spirit of Stax Records, Chess Records, and Motown. It’s been three years since her last album, and as Crystal says, “there’s a lot of life in this music.” The good. The bad. The redemption and healing that can be messy — because life isn’t always pretty. That’s the Sing Pretty Blues. From the heartfelt vulnerability of “Would You Know Love,” to the sass and swagger of “Stop Funking Me Around,” to a deeply moving tribute with her haunting take on “Changes,” Crystal delivers songs rooted in resilience, self-worth, and independence. This is music that refuses to settle — in love, in life, or in business. She’s made history, broken barriers, launched her own label, and along the way earned multiple JUNO nominations — including a win for Blues Album of the Year for Church House Blues at Juno Awards of 2021.Now, all eyes turn to Hamilton, where the winners of the 2026 JUNO Awards. And whether she takes home the trophy or not, one thing’s for sure — Crystal Shawanda is already singing her truth, and the world is listening. So get ready for powerhouse vocals, raw emotion, and a whole lot of soul. This… is That’s Entertainment.----Follow Us On Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crossborderpodcast/Threads: https://www.threads.net/@crossborderpodcast Blusky: https://bsky.app/profile/crossbordernetwork.bsky.socialFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/CrossBorderInterviews/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/crossborderinterviews/ Website: https://www.crossborderinterviews.ca/Thats Entertainment is Part of the Cross Border Network© 2026
