During this episode I discuss the coexistence of joy and oppression, as we live through unprecedented times. Joy is an active form of resistance for oppressed people. Meet our Community Visionary, Martell Collins. He is doing a lot great things here in Chicago. Working as Peace Campus Coordinator, an Executive Director for his own not-for-profit, and Consultant. He is the middle man between the people and the resources. Not only does help folks with access to resources, he teaches people how to fish for their own. Helping to building thriving and sustainable communities one day at a time. Meet our community artist, Essence Richardson. She is a multidisciplinary artist, most known for her photography. An incredible working artist with a focus in Community Archival, and it shows. She’s been featured in the 55th annual Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition, teaches photography workshops with The Darkroom Chicago, she’s the photographer for the South Loop Farmer’s Market, and does a lot of the photography for Healthy Hood Chicago.
