Kya aapne kabhi kisise pyaar kiya? Kya kabhi kisiko dil diya?Humne bhi diya.F se Field, Issh se Isshq is a series of audio stories emerging from the lived realities, desires and fantasies. All these narratives help us understand our encounters with sexuality by centering the psyche. These stories emerged in a facilitated setting: Participants were discussing their dangerous pleasures and pleasurable dangers, while Jaya and Archana took them through concepts like the Charmed Circle by Gayle Rubin or Jacques Lacan’s articulation of how prohibition eroticises. These ideas are usually thought and written about in English (or, you know, French), and we translated and transliterated them in Hindi, so that we can write our own experiences in a language that is closer to us, as intimate and varied as the experiences shared here. The stories that emerged after this process surprised even the people who wrote them. There were moments of intimacy, discovery, hope, astonishment, shame, helplessness, betrayal - stuff that is often buried within us. Nasreen from Kashmiri Gate tells us how rooftops play a double-edged role in a young girl’s life. As she takes us through the city as she has lived and experienced it, we jump across states, only to find her running and gasping for breath. In the second part of her narrative, Nasreen revisits the days spent on her terrace in Kolkata, where she looks upon a city in which there is an impending marriage she wants nothing to do with. Feeling trapped, she goes to the terrace. There she witnesses something that changes the course of her life. What does it mean to look at your city through your experience? In the first part of her narrative, Nasreen looks at the metropolis of Delhi from the terrace of her house in Kashmiri Gate, the only space where she can move freely. She takes us through her private and her public as she thinks about her friendships, her various rendezvous, and her desires standing at the top of her terrace. Other parts of the city are oblivious to her, but she can talk about her dreams under the shadow of Jama Masjid.Space is one of her biggest negotiations; Nasreen often says that she looks at the gaps and starts creating herself from there. In the last episode of "Sarita aur Madam", Krupa shares a lasting memory of Sarita as she knocks at Prayas' door once again, this time with a desire to learn.At TTE, we are very invested in expanding the notion of the field, and bring to life the lives of various people who make a field humane. In this case, it’s the social worker who works in prison, and the deep relationships that she forms with those on the other side of the law.In F se Field, J se Jail, we bring you four very-short stories narrated by a social worker who tells us of her long-term client and friend, Sarita. Over the last 10 months, we have been conducting writing workshops with 5 social workers from Prayas, a field action project which does social work intervention in the Criminal Justice System.
