Description

A space to settle in and listen, and see where the episode takes you. This inspiring, reflective podcast is an invitation to travel deeper, with compassionate self-enquiry.

Henny shares insights from her own life, alongside practices that help us connect with our inner wisdom, explore our relationship with change and find a greater sense of flow. Henny believes we all hold our own answers, so there are no one-size-fits-all solutions here. This is a space to be with what’s true for you, and to grow from there.

If you’re drawn to slowing down, listening in, and exploring what it means to live with greater authenticity, this podcast is for you. Guided by psychology, mindfulness, therapeutic coaching, flow journaling, and everyday compassion, we explore ideas that help us step further into our inner worlds, in order to shape the changes we seek in our outer worlds.

Welcome back to Tuesday's Thought, a bonus episode sharing reflections on the most recent episode of the Henny Flynn podcast: The Tipping Point: Decision, Indecision & Letting Go (S18E5) My 3 key reflections, as I speak to you today are:1. Sometimes life gifts you a moment where you can TRULY see the change you’ve enacted2. We may not be moving toward something different - we may simply be revealing who we truly are3. Welcome back to Tuesday's Thought, a bonus episode sharing reflections on the most recent episode of the Henny Flynn podcast: The Paradox of Help: Safety, Shame & Belonging (S18E4)Today's reflection includes:The role of self-compassion in bringing ourselves back into an emotionally regulated stateThe role of compassion in helping us meet someone else where they are, and not taking things personally or making assumptions about what's happeningThe power of yes: how we can learn to accept support when we truly need itSo... all of that leads to the invitation to explore (in your journal, in conversation or in your thoughts):What could it feel like to allow yourself to receive support? With loveHenny xPS: I'd love to hear your thoughts - if we're not yet connected, you can write to me henny@hennyflynn.co.uk ★ Support this podcast ★
Why do we sometimes refuse help, even when it might be exactly what we need?In this episode I explore what happens when we’re feeling sensitised, sensitive, activated or triggered - and why even a simple offer of support can feel like a threat.Together we look at the patterns that sit beneath our instinct to say no: the way our nervous system tries to keep us safe, how dignity and self-concept can override our needs, and why vulnerability can feel so exposing. And we explore the other side too - how accepting help can soothe the body, build trust, and deepen our sense of belonging. This episode feels particularly important in our current times. A chance to build and deepen awareness of our ourselves and others. Welcome back to Tuesday's Thought, a bonus episode sharing reflections on the most recent episode of the Henny Flynn podcast: Boredom is the Mother of Creativity (S18E3)Today's reflection includes:the brilliant penguin film Happy Feet (if you haven't seen it... it's a wonderful debate on hierarchy and social rules)thoughts on that phrase 'the devil makes work for idle hands' the discomfort of boredomthe differentiation between boredom and restand how do we recapture the imagination we tapped into during hours of boredom in our childhood.So... all of that leads to the invitation to explore (in your journal, in conversation or in your thoughts):How does it feel to play with being bored? With loveHenny xPS: I'd love to hear your thoughts - if we're not yet connected, you can write to me henny@hennyflynn.co.uk ★ Support this podcast ★
In this episode I explore the often-undervalued benefits of boredom - how allowing our minds to soften and wander makes space for curiosity, creativity and unexpected connections. I share stories from a week in London, a valuable lesson from my mum, thoughts from the tube, a surprising chat with an Uber driver, and why choosing boredom over distraction can be a simple experiment worth trying. This is a gentle invitation to be curious about being bored.REFERENCESHelping people change: Coaching with compassion for lifelong learning and growth by Richard Boyatzis, Melvin Smith and Ellen Van Oosten*****Would you love to find A piece of quiet?Every Wednesday, take a moment to pause and find A piece of quiet with this calming reflective practice and Flow Journaling prompt. Welcome back to Tuesday's Thought, a bonus episode sharing reflections on the most recent episode of the Henny Flynn podcast: The Way of Love: Finding Our Response in a Troubled World (S18E2)There was a single overpowering reflection this week... the power of hope. Without hope we are hopeless, with it we are hopeFULL. This quote from David Roberts seems to say so much that could be useful... important... maybe essential, for us today: “Hope isn’t about the future as much as it is about the present." I leave you with a reflection to journal about or ponder over - and if you feel doubt or fear or anger come in that’s ok, let them know there’s space for them too - and ask the question againWhat makes you hopeful? With loveHenny xPS: This is the link to the episode I mention - recorded with the ever wise Susan McCulley, back in season 4. We were speaking during the time of Covid but many of the reflections feel just as resonant today: Hope is now... with Susan McCulley (S4E2)  ★ Support this podcast ★
In this deeply reflective episode, I share what’s been stirring in me in response to all that is unfolding in the wider world. What does it mean to hold on to love when fear, hate, and division seem to be rising around us? How can we take meaningful action without being consumed by reaction? What began as a plan to speak about freedom transformed into another offering — of thoughts, of writing, and of heartfelt reflection. I read something I wrote a little while ago, as well as a piece from My Darling Girl, and explore how love might be the only way through.I also talk briefly about the Flow Journaling Quest, which begins on 21 September — a beautiful, light-touch invitation to reconnect with your inner voice through seven days of gentle prompts and a shared sense of togetherness. Welcome to Tuesday’s Thought – a short, reflective invitation to go a little deeper with the themes from the latest episode of the Henny Flynn podcast. In this bonus recording I share three observations, each with a reflective question that may support your own compassionate self-enquiry.When you reflect on the themes we covered in last weekend's episode: Here Was Yesterday’s There: The Habit of Looking Ahead (S18E1)Where has your mind been living today - and what happens when you gently return to now?Is there a thought you’ve been carrying that belongs to a time that hasn’t yet arrived? What beauty is already here, quietly waiting to be noticed? And, of course, if you haven't yet had a chance to listen to the episode that inspired these reflections, it's there, waiting for you. With loveHenny x ★ Support this podcast ★
Do you ever find yourself looking forward to your next holiday… even when the last one just ended? Or counting down to lunch before your day has even begun? In this opening episode of Season 18, I explore our very human tendency to live ahead of ourselves — and how we can gently guide ourselves back to presence.I reflect on conversations with my son, moments of yearning, memories from years gone by — and the beautiful, sometimes difficult practice of being with what is. I share thoughts on how cultural conditioning, unconscious habits, and even well-meaning manifestation messages can pull us out of the now… and what helps us come back. There’s a lot of heart in this one, including:what we miss when we live for the “there”quotes from Thich Nhat Hanh and Ram Dass that always bring me homeand why presence doesn’t mean avoiding changeI also share a little about A Piece of Quiet — and why it’s becoming one of the things I most love to create. You'll hear the wind get up as I talk about coming into Winter - and the beaded curtain that covers the open door of the stable begins to clatter slightly. Apologies for this and also... I quite like how not only the birds but the elements have made themselves heard.*****Would you love to find A piece of quiet?Every Wednesday, take a moment to pause and find A piece of quiet with this calming reflective practice and Flow Journaling prompt. In this gentle bonus episode, I share a warm check-in after my August break — a space to pause, reflect, and ease back into the season ahead.I speak about what it’s been like to step away from work, from digital habits, and from the usual patterns of busyness… and what’s been surprising, helpful, or quietly confronting about that process. I talk about the Love Shrine at Shambala, revisiting my book The Heart of Change, and how the deeper work continues even (and especially) in stillness.I also read a new poem — A Single Breath — and reflect on how the inner voice that used to write to 'My darling girl', now seems to be what (or who?) I am writing to.If you’ve been wondering how to return after a pause, or how to meet yourself when the noise quiets, I hope this one meets you where you are.And if you'd love to join me at A piece of quiet live, 30-minutes of calm, this Friday 5 September, book your space here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1483750621049?aff=oddtdtcreator you will be so welcome there.*****Would you love to find A piece of quiet?Every Wednesday, take a moment to pause with this calming reflective practice and Flow Journaling prompt. In this final episode of Season 17, I share a gentle reflection before stepping into my August break – a time I’ve been honouring for many years now as a way of resetting and softening. But this year, I’ve been particularly aware of one thing: dopamine. And more specifically, how our phones – and work, and even exercise – can give us such powerful hits that we risk missing the deeper nourishment that comes with stillness, rest and real presence. So I’m exploring what happens when we don’t reach for the phone… when we rest, reset, and gently recalibrate our systems. This episode is part musing, part intention-setting, part conversation with you. I talk about the Finding the More Abundant Way group coming to a close, the beautiful connection that forms in these small, deep spaces… and how rest – whether for a month or a moment – invites us to step out of our usual patterns and remember what truly feeds us.If you’re wondering how to soften your own habits this summer, or simply want to share this pause with me, settle in and listen – and see where the episode takes you.***Would you love to find A piece of quiet?Every Wednesday, take a moment to pause with this calming reflective practice and Flow Journaling prompt. Tap to send me your reflections ♡This week, I’m reflecting on abundance - not as magical thinking or wishful positivity, but as a deeply embodied trust in the resources, skills and love already within us, and around us.I talk about the Finding the More Abundant Way group work I’ve been running, the tenderness of turning toward our beliefs about lack, and how Flow Journaling can help us soften into a more spacious, compassionate mindset.I also share a journal entry from 2019 that still feels so true today - a reminder that the wisdom we write often circles back to meet us again. If you’ve been feeling tightly held by old beliefs or wondering how to step into the fullness of the space that's here for you, this might be a good listen. Tap to send me your reflections ♡I’ve been meaning to talk about this for a while – and then a conversation in my kitchen with a friend reminded me why it’s such an important theme. In this episode, I’m exploring the power of cross-skilling – noticing how the skills we use in one part of our lives can help us in another. Sometimes we forget just how capable we already are because we keep parts of our lives too separate. What if we could gently bring more awareness to the strengths we already have and use them where we most need them? Here’s what I cover:Why cross-skilling matters – and how we often miss the skills we already have. The “ant brain” – my way of describing how we can tune in deeply to what’s happening around us (without falling into groupthink). The risk of unconscious patterns – how to avoid applying old, unhelpful strategies, like people-pleasing, without realising.A real-life example of discovering hidden skills – how a client realised they were far better at admin than they believed, simply by looking in a different part of their life. The role of motivation and nuance – and why it’s not about doing everything everywhere, but about consciously choosing what supports us.If you’ve ever felt stuck or believed you don’t have the right skills to face a challenge, this might open up a new way of looking at it.Henny xSHORT COURSE: Understanding Boundaries - free 5-day audio courseSupport the show*** A piece of quietYour weekly pause - a calming relaxation practice, every Wednesday. Tap to send me your reflections ♡This is a full-hearted, creative, slightly giddy episode - recorded just after I finished the first piece for A Piece of Quiet, my new private, subscription-only podcast. There’s so much newness stirring right now. The LoveWords cards are out in the world, my year-long group coaching programme is quietly filling behind the scenes, and now my new weekly pause - in audio form - for reflection, stillness and self-connection, is almost ready to enter the world. In this episode, I reflect on the power of creativity - why it matters so much (especially now), and how it doesn’t need to be complicated or grand. Tap to send me your reflections ♡This episode began with me reaching for a journal from the shelf - and by chance, I picked up the very first one I ever wrote in when Flow Journaling was becoming a daily practice for me.I opened it at random… and landed on Day 21.What I found was a tender glimpse into who I was back then - and some insight into the foundations of how I live and work now. In this episode, I share that early entry, and reflect on what it means to revisit our past selves with gentleness. I talk about meditation, the deep longing for safety (for ourselves and others), and the quiet power of seeing how far we’ve come. This is an episode about the value of reflection - not to get things right, but to be with whatever’s true in the moment.Key reflections in this episode:How journaling and meditation support each other as practices of presence and self-compassionWhy inner work isn’t linear - and how spirals of change are part of the journeyThe deep desire so many of us share for safety - and the ache that can come with witnessing sufferingThe quiet strength of giving ourselves space between stimulus and responseHow powerful it can be to revisit our past selves with love, curiosity and careViktor Frankl: "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom."Support the show*** A piece of quietYour weekly pause - a calming relaxation practice, every Wednesday. Tap to send me your reflections ♡This episode wasn’t planned (hmmm - that seems to be a theme!)I’d actually already recorded something else, but when I sat down to share it, I realised it simply wasn’t what I really wanted to say. Not today. So I began again. And what came was this: a call to hold things lightly.Ourselves. The inner Work. The world. This doesn't mean we don't take what we see seriously, or that we condone or ignore the challenging things unfolding around us. It simply means we hold it all with a lighter, loving touch. If you’ve been feeling called to do the inner work, but there's fear that it might be all too much — maybe this is the call you’ve been waiting for. We can do this work, with love.If you're ready to step toward your Self in this lighter way, please do connect. Tap to send me your reflections ♡This week, I’m sharing thoughts on the doubt that can come (in waves!) when we're creating something new.I talk about the (very human) conflicting thoughts that show up alongside our excitement and joy when we’re bringing something into the world – whether it’s a project, a course, a work of art, or simply a new way of living.I speak openly about fear, self-trust, and the need for spaces that feel safe enough to hold all of it – not just the polished parts. And though I don’t name it outright (yet), I also begin to share more about something new that's taking shape behind the scenes – something rooted in reflection, connection and journaling. If you’re curious, I'd love to share more with you when the time is right. You’ll also hear:A reflection from the Hopes & Dreams courseWhy we sometimes need to revisit our past successesThe surprising value of letting old corporate strategies evolve into more soulful onesThe outcome from a journaling prompt that feels a little like a personal manifestoIf we're not yet connected through the mailing list, and you're curious to know more about what's unfolding, please do sign up.
