Gotta Watch’em All Podcast 156 Recording Date: 10/29/2026 Watch the video version of this podcast at: http://patreon.com/pokemonprofessor  After seeing Ash’s determination and resilience take center stage last episode, he walked away from his second battle with Whitney as the victor. To everyone’s surprise, he also left with the Plain Badge, even though he had a very non-traditional or official battle with Whitney. After taking dozens of episodes to get to Goldenrod, only to earn the Plain badge after just two episodes in town, we had no idea what to expect the crew to do next. This episode was hilariously off the rails from the start and we loved every minute of it. We meet the unnamed producer of the Poké Talk Radio show and how he wanted to get Ash on the air with DJ Mary to talk about his battle with Whitney! Ash is completely unprepared for a scenario like this, but in the end, it is all part of becoming a famous Pokémon battler. Team Rocket makes an early appearance in the episode, but there is a surprising lack of battling. We see them sneak into Goldenrod Radio Tower in search of free food samples, only to be mistaken for DJ Mary’s guests, the Dugtrio Trio. We assure you that hilarity ensues and we see some really funny dialogue from Team Rocket. The highlight of the episode is when Ash, Misty, Brock and Team Rocket are voluntold to be a part of a live Radio Play, which is played out with excellent animation and style. It has to be one of the most creative scenes we have seen so far in the entire series. It of course isn’t long before Team Rocket reveals themselves and a proper battle ensues, but rest assured Ash is feeling better than ever coming off of his win against Whitney. Gotta Watch’em All Podcast 155 - A Dairy Tale Ending Recording Date: 10/20/2026 Watch the video version of this podcast at: http://patreon.com/pokemonprofessor  After a shocking loss to Whitney last week, Ash is focused on learning what it will take to defeat her. It was such an intense battle that Nurse Joy recommends that Ash’s Pokémon spend the night. Ash gets plenty of opportunities to study Whitney and her Milltank, with Team Rocket showing up to Whitney’s Family Dairy Farm. Milltank once again showed how tough it is by blasting off Team Rocket with its signature Roll Out. There is a really awesome scene where we Whitney training Milltank, which leads Ash to believe that he knows how to defeat Milltank. The battle that follows isn’t an official Gym battle, but more of a friendly scrimmage. It is an interesting structure with Milltank facing off against Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Pikachu. This battle may be Ash’s most impressive show of strategy and team based battling. At the end of the battle, Ash is victorious and Whitney shocks everyone. She decides to award Ash with the Plain Badge, even though this was an unorthodox style battle. Even Uncle Milton agreed that defeating a Gym Leader’s Pokémon fair and square, is what counts. Gotta Watch’em All Podcast 154: A Goldenrod Opportunity Recording Date: 10/13/2026 Watch the video version of this podcast at: http://patreon.com/pokemonprofessor  The time has finally come. After what felt like an eternity, Ash and friends finally arrive at Goldenrod City. Ash wastes no time and heads straight to the Gym, only to find a note on the door stating that the Gym was closed. With a Gym battle no longer on the agenda, the crew decides to explore the city where they meet Whitney. Yes, the notorious Whitney from the main series games, and yes, she has her Milltank. Team Rocket doesn’t have too much screen time in this episode, with an act one blast off with no return to the screen. We do get to see Whitney’s Clefairy use Metronome, which is a ton of fun to see. After blasting off Team Rocket, the truth comes out that Whitney is in fact the Gondenrod City Gym Leader, and before long, the stage is set for an official Johto League Gym Battle. Ash’s Cyndaquil makes quick work of Whitney’s Nidorina, so she brings out Clefairy and immediately uses Metronome. This episode ends up being filled with action and great visuals, and some pretty aggressive battling. Once Whitney’s Milltank enters the battlefield, things turn sharply in her favor. We all learned how nasty Roll Out is, with Milltank taking out Ash’s team, leaving Ash needing a rematch. Gotta Watch’em All Podcast Recording Date: 10/6/2026 Watch the video version of this podcast at: http://patreon.com/pokemonprofessor  Last week we saw Ash and the crew stumble upon Len town, which was overrun with aggressive Ghost-Type Pokémon! The citizens even had to arm themselves with Psychic-Types, simply to keep the Ghosts away. It was a fun episode but didn’t advance our storyline at all. We went into this episode hopeful, but after learning that it was actually the final episode on the Johto Journey’s run, we know that Goldenrod was also not in our immediate future. What this episode does bring us is a more human look at our characters, with many of them showing different sides of themselves than we are used to. Specifically Misty and James have some great scenes as we see everyone become obsessed with their Pokémon horoscope. The fun twist is that the book they are holding in such high regard is actually a phony. We learn that well after the fact, so we get the privilege of seeing James go full Moltres, with some amazingly classic one liners. Out of nowhere we are also treated with the return of Butch and Cassidy, and we are reminded what competent Team Rocket members can actually do. We get some great Team Rocket on Team Rocket battling, and some fresh looking battle animations that help keep you engaged with the story.  The real treat is Moltres James, which we are confident, will be the most memorable part of the episode and maybe, all of Johto Journeys! If you can’t be out there catching them all, hang out with us and watch’em all! The Psychic Sidekicks!

The Psychic Sidekicks!

Gotta Watch’em All Podcast 152 Recording Date: 9/30/2026 Watch the video version of this podcast at: http://patreon.com/pokemonprofessor  As we prepare to watch another episode of our beloved anime, we have high hopes that the crew will reach Goldenrod City. That was however, until Ken crushed their dreams with some factoids he found when researching this week’s show. While the last few episodes have some differences in release schedule compared to Japan, this one was a little different. While The Psychic Sidekick’s is the next episode that follows Forest Grumps, in the US, audiences had to wait two full months to see it, whereas those in Japan only had to wait a week. This episode lands right before the dreaded summer break, which was filled with two full months of reruns. With things back on track (albeit a bit delayed), the crew comes across a sign with a Trainer’s Tip that reads that Ghost Pokémon are in the nearby woods, and Psychic Type Pokémon are recommended for protection. The crew should have nothing to worry about as they can be protected by, Psyduck! OK, maybe that is wishful thinking, but at least we know there is at least one Psychic Pokémon with them. The crew curiously stumbles upon a Girafarig and its Trainer, Cherry. Most Trainers in the neighboring Len Town train Psychic Type Pokémon, with Cherry deciding to train Girafarig. The party initially thinks that Girafarig is a Ghost Pokémon, due to the way the head on its tail looks. Cherry helps them learn about her Pokémon, before challenging Ash to a battle. We get our first glimpse of Future Sight, which is played out in a pretty cool way. Pikachu does end up making easy work of Girafarig, though. Arriving at Len Town, we see Team Rocket up to no good, with a giant Gengar contraption that is scaring the townsfolk and kidnapping Pokémon. Because the giant fake Gengar is not actually a Ghost Pokémon, the Psychic attacks being hurled at it do nothing, and in fact, are mirrored back thanks to the fake Gengar’s mirrored eyes. After a prolonged battle, we see Girafarig and Pikachu Team up in an awesome way. Girafarig ends up using COnfusion on Pikachu, which allows him to essentially fly Pikachu around. Chetty and Girafarig begin to communicate psychically, and then it is time for another Future Sight, this one finally blasting off Team Rocket!  This sidewinder episode was fun, but again didn’t have any impact on the journey to Goldenrod City. Who knows, maybe we will run into Cherry and Girafarig again down the road! Learn more about The Psychic Sidekicks!
