This week, Christian finally gets his hands on @jackwhite’s Knife Drop pedal… and it immediately turns into one of those sessions where you start intending to do a calm demo and end wondering whether the walls are still structurally sound. He walks through what makes Knife Drop such a brutal, characterful box. There’s plenty of hands-on playing, plenty of “oh no… that’s massive” moments, and a whole lot of noise. Then, because Christian can’t resist taking things one step further, he patches up a very simple modular setup—nothing fancy—just a clean, practical patch that shows how quickly modular can become wild when you treat an effects pedal like part of the instrument rather than something stuck on the end of the chain. The result: a modular + Knife Drop combo that hits with devastating impact. Rhythmic movement, animated textures, aggressive tone-shaping, and that wonderful feeling of the sound constantly trying to escape your control (in the best way).If you’re modular-curious (or modular-intimidated), he also mentions two helpful resources to get you moving fast:Quick modular guide (10-minute overview):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umkTjJ-Z6fsModular cheat sheet:https://thecrowhillcompany.com/master-modular-sythesis-in-minutes-copy/If you’ve ever wondered how far you can push a “basic” patch with the right external pedal… this episode is basically a very loud answer! If you would like to see how christian puts the whole thing together, watch the episode here: https://youtu.be/4whNsKubm24
