Description

Welcome to Everyday Cooks Recipe Club—a fun, no-pressure cooking podcast for home cooks of all levels who love discovering easy recipes, helpful kitchen tips, and the occasional hilarious cooking mishap. We’re Kelly and Stephanie, two friends who started a cooking club to make our dinners more exciting and now we’re inviting you to pull up a chair and join us.

Here’s the deal: Every month, one of us picks a recipe. It could be a cozy family favorite, a new dish we’ve never tried, or something that pushes us out of our comfort zone. We each make it in our own kitchens, navigating grocery shopping adventures, ingredient swaps, and plenty of “learning moments” along the way.

Then we get together to dish on:
~Why we chose it
~How the shopping went
~The steps that made us cheer, laugh, or groan
~The tweaks we’d try next time
~Whether it’s destined to become a weeknight staple or a one-time experiment

That’s our main monthly episode, a recipe deep dive with real talk about what worked and what didn’t. The rest of the month, you’ll get short and snackable episodes filled with quick meal ideas, time-saving cooking tips, kitchen gadget finds, and simple recipes you can make anytime. Think of them as the side dishes to our main course.

If you’re looking for a home cooking podcast that feels more like chatting with friends in the kitchen than watching a polished cooking show, you’re in the right place. We believe great food doesn’t have to be complicated, mistakes make the best stories, and every home cook deserves a little club of their own.

So grab your spatula, pour yourself something tasty, and hit play. Welcome to Everyday Cooks Recipe Club where we’re sharing recipes, tips, and laughs one month at a time, with plenty of delicious detours along the way.

Back To The Crock Pot

Back To The Crock Pot

2025-12-0941:00

In this episode of Everyday Cooks Recipe Club, Stephanie and Kelly go back to the crock pot to test another recipe.  This time they are making dinner.  In this episode, we talk about:10 Crock Pot tips for the best experienceWe review the Beef and Bean Chili recipe below Stephanie gives us a bonus idea of cooking a whole chicken in the crock potHow each of us prepared the meal (and where we improvised!)Our honest thoughts on flavor, texture, and whether it’s worth making againResources & Linkshttps://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/slow_cooker_beef_and_bean_chili/Here are crock pot tips for beginners:Don’t Overfill It - Aim to fill the crock pot ½ to ⅔ full. Overfilling can cause uneven cooking, and under-filling can make food cook too fast.Layer Ingredients Wisely - Heavier, tougher ingredients (like root vegetables and meats) should go on the bottom, closest to the heat source. Lighter ingredients go on top.Brown Meat for Better Flavor (Optional) - While you can throw raw meat straight in, searing it first adds richer flavor and better texture. Keep the Lid Closed - Every time you open the lid, you lose heat and add 15–30 minutes to the cooking time. Peek only when necessary.Use the Right Amount of Liquid - Crock pots don’t let moisture escape. Use less liquid than you would on the stove—usually 1 cup or less unless you’re making soup.Choose “Low and Slow” When Possible - Most dishes turn out more tender and flavorful when cooked on Low for 6–8 hours vs. High for 3–4 hours.Add Dairy and Fresh Herbs at the End - Milk, cream, cheese, and fresh herbs can curdle or lose flavor if cooked too long. Stir them in during the last 15–30 minutes.Use Cheaper Cuts of Meat - The slow cooker excels with budget-friendly cuts like chuck roast, pork shoulder, chicken thighs. They become super tender with long cooking.Prep Ahead to Save Time - Chop veggies, measure spices, or assemble entire freezer-to-crock-pot bags the night before for easy morning cooking.Clean Up Easily - Use crock pot liners or fill the pot with warm soapy water right after dinner to avoid stuck-on food.If there are recipes you want us to try or questions you want to ask, email us at everydaycooksrecipeclub@gmail.comSupport the ShowIf you loved this episode, please follow the podcast, leave a review, and share it with a friend who loves to cook.
