In this episode, I’m talking about something that doesn’t get said enough: we can’t just send our teens to coaching or therapy and expect everything to change if we aren’t willing to do the work, too. Real, lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in the family system. When we, as parents, start learning how to regulate our own emotions, shift old patterns, and show up differently, we create the safety and stability our teens need to grow and heal. It’s just as important for us to do our own inner work as it is for them to get support, because that’s how true transformation happens—together.I’ll also share my own story of moving from reactive and overwhelmed to grounded and calm, and what that shift did for me, my relationships, and the overall energy in my home.If you’ve ever caught yourself yelling, slamming a door, or saying something you later regretted, this episode is for you. Here’s What I Talk AboutHow our kids learn emotional regulation by watching usWhy modeling calm is more effective than lecturing about itWhat co-regulation really means and how it worksHow mirror neurons make emotions contagious (for better or worse)The 5 powerful shifts that can change your family dynamic:My own story: how I went from dysregulated to calm and what that changedTaking the pause: learning to step back before reactingLetting go of “power-over” parenting: moving away from “my way or the highway”The power of co-regulation: how our calm influences our teen’s nervous systemWhole-family growth: why change can’t happen in a vacuumWant to Go Deeper? If you’re ready to get support for yourself, your teen, or your family, I’d love to connect. You can book a free call with me hereConnect with MeCome hang out with me on Instagram for more tools, insights, and conversations about raising confident, emotionally healthy teens:👉@jasmyne.guidedpassages💖 If You Loved This EpisodePlease take a moment to rate and review the podcast — it really helps more parents find this work, and it means so much to me. This week, I’m sharing something that’s been on my heart after an incredibly full (and honestly, exhausting) week — a reminder that one of the best things we can do for our kids isn’t actually about them… it’s about us.In this episode, I talk about how following our own dreams and passions doesn’t just make us happier — it gives our teens permission to live boldly too. I share what happened when I finally stopped pushing through exhaustion, took time to reset, and reconnected with the things that bring me joy — like beadwork, nature, and creating. We explore:Why centering our entire identity around our kids can unintentionally hold them backHow modeling joy, purpose, and passion helps our teens believe those things are possible for them tooThe difference between prioritizing our kids and revolving our lives around themHow to start living into your own dreams (even if you only have 15 minutes a week)It’s a heartfelt reminder that our kids learn how to live by watching us live — not just how we handle emotions or responsibilities, but how we experience joy, creativity, and purpose. If this episode resonates, I’d love for you to share it with another parent who might need this reminder too. And if you’re ready to dive deeper into this kind of work — learning how to support your teen while reconnecting with yourself — come find me on Instagram @jasmyne.guidedpassages or visit www.guided-passages.com.Let’s keep showing up with love, growing, and becoming the example our kids will one day thank us for.
