What essential skills do students actually need to succeed in today’s world, and how does our school system guarantee they learn them? On this episode of Homeroom Huddle, we're discussing the "Portrait of a Graduate" -- a framework formerly known as the "Profile of a Graduate" at the time of recording -- which shifts the focus from high-stakes testing toward mastery-based learning and durable skills like resilience and collaboration.
What does it take to serve over 7,000 meals to students every school day? To find out, we headed to the kitchen with our Food Services Director, a kitchen manager, and other rockstars from in and around the classroom to discuss school meals and their impact on student success. Packed with compliments and criticisms from our students, we'll pick apart the vegetable color rotation, sprinkle regulations over sodium and sugar, and ultimately discover the care and planning behind every single bite.
In a rapidly changing world, what skills do students really need to succeed after high school? In this episode of Homeroom Huddle, we explore "durable skills" and how Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes create an ideal environment to learn them. Joined by a teacher, a student, an industry engineer, and our CTE director, this conversation uses real-world examples to show how these hands-on pathways prepare every student for a future-ready life.
