This episode of Fill the Silence features a real-world field recording captured inside a historic 16th-century British pub in Rabley Heath, Hertfordshire.
The audio presents a stable, continuous sound profile with low-frequency crowd murmur, soft overlapping conversation, and consistent restaurant background noise. The overall texture closely resembles brown noise, with elements of soft white noise created by blended voices, movement, and room tone. There are no sharp peaks or sudden interruptions, making it suitable for sustained focus and concentration.
This ambient soundscape is designed for studying, deep work, reading, productivity, and background listening. The natural acoustic environment of a traditional English countryside pub provides non-intrusive noise masking that can help reduce distractions and fill the silence in a calm, unobtrusive way.

This episode of Fill the Silence was recorded from the window of Luke’s family home in the early morning hours. While most people were still asleep, birds filled the air with their dawn chorus as neighbours began their commute and distant trains passed through the town, some freight, some packed with passengers heading to London for work.

Hi, I’m Georgia — the host and producer of Fill the Silence.
I just want to start by saying Happy New Year, and a huge thank you for listening to Fill the Silence week after week. What started as a small idea has quietly snowballed into something really special, taking you along with me to the places and sounds that make up my everyday life.
I realised recently that I’ve never formally introduced myself — so, hello. I’m Georgia. I have a wonderful fiancé, Luke, and an amazing two-year-old collie–staffy cross called Pippa. We live on an English river in a wide-beam boat, which we’ve spent the past year renovating. I’m a creative at heart, with a background in musical theatre. I love animals, long dog walks, fashion, and every cup of tea I drink is always accompanied by cake.
Travel is a huge part of our lives, and it’s something I’m especially excited to bring to you in 2026. Pippa, Luke and I travel through Europe, splitting our time mostly between England, France and Italy — which means we’re often surrounded by some truly incredible sounds.
My hope for Fill the Silence is that it helps you fill your silence, whatever that looks like for you. Whether you’re focusing while answering work emails, drifting off to sleep, or simply closing your eyes and imagining you’re walking along the sea in France or through a bustling French town — even if that feels very far away from where you are right now.
Your continued listening genuinely means the world to me. It’s just little me, walking around with a small microphone, editing on my laptop, and posting — hoping someone out there enjoys it. So if you do like Fill the Silence, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could rate or leave a review on whatever platform you listen on, and follow along so you never miss a new episode. New episodes are out every Monday.
I wish you nothing but happiness and health in 2026. Wherever you are, whoever you are — thank you for listening to Fill the Silence.

Fill The Silence with Birdsong at an outdoor coffee shop.
This episode of Fill the Silence was recorded beside a Hertfordshire river in England, while enjoying tea and chocolate cake at a small converted horse-box café.
You’ll hear the soundscape exactly as it unfolded: birdsong on a crisp winter morning, dog walkers stopping for hot drinks, gravel underfoot, planes passing overhead, and the steady rush of a historic weir in the background. Around 25 minutes in, a brief military helicopter passes overhead.
If you recognise any of the birds you hear, I’d love to know their names in the comments. And if the calm sounds of a riverside café are what you need to fill the silence, I hope you enjoy this episode.

This episode of Fill The Silence will transport you to a tiny local Italian restaurant in Turin called Trattoria Ala.
You'll hear the sound of the beautiful Italian language being spoken by locals enjoying their meals with their friends and family.
The restaurant was generally loud, so I decided to keep this episode at its true volume; however, if you'd like to submerge yourself calmly, then please do lower your volume.

Fill The Silence with an Italian Piazza
This episode of Fill The Silence has been recorded in one of Turin’s most beautiful piazzas.
The northern Italian city of Turin is one of my most favourite places to visit. As Turin was once the capital city, the buildings are beautifully historic, and the city is a perfect mixture of vibrant and liveable. I’ve recorded this episode simply sitting in a piazza, drinking a cioccolata calda on a Wednesday evening. You’ll hear distant, talented street performers, passing cyclists, and friends catching up over an aperitivo.

Fill The Silence with a thunderstorm in France.
This week, I was woken at 6 a.m. by the crashing sound of thunder and rain hurtling from the sky. The small coastal town just outside Nice, in the south of France, was blanketed by rolling thunder and illuminated by an incredible natural light show.
Thunder and heavy rainfall may be among nature’s most electrifying soundscapes, yet I find them deeply calming... soothing, even. In this episode, I invite you to settle in, listen closely, and let the French storm wash over you.

Join me, my partner and our dog Pippa on our first autumn walk.
As we set off from our wide beam boat home and down the towpath nestled between the river and a natural lake not far from the local town. Immerse yourself in the sounds of the gravel moving under our footsteps, the songbirds' tunes and chatty ducks.
As we make our way to the woods, you'll be surrounded by the crunch of the newly fallen leaves and sticks breaking beneath our feet, complemented by a slight breeze and the rumble of distant aeroplanes coming in to land.
Be calmed by the familiar noises of nature and energised by the bursts of sounds from the weir and wind.
