In the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting entity which disguises itself as a clown and preys on the children of Derry, Maine.
Now that Chris and his girlfriend Rose have reached the meet the parent's milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with her parents Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughters' interracial relationship but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries leads him to a truth that he never could have imagined.
For decades, the housing projects of Chicago's Cabrini-Green were terrorized by an urban legend about a supernatural hook-handed killer. In present day, an artist begins to explore the dark history of Candyman, not knowing it would unravel his sanity and unleash a terrifying wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.
Skeptical graduate student Helen Lyles befriends Anne-Marie McCoy while researching superstitions in a housing project in Chicago's near North Side. From Anne-Marie, Helen learns about the Candyman a hook-wielding figure of an urban legend that some of her neighbors believe to be responsible for a recent murder. After a mysterious man matching the Candyman's description begins stalking her, Helen comes to fear that the legend may be all too real.
