Ghosteas

Have you ever looked at someone you’ve just met and gotten an uneasy feeling? You’re not sure why, they seem pleasant enough, but there’s just this feeling in the pit of your stomach that something isn’t adding up. Or maybe you are about to walk out of your door for the day, but as you turn the handle, there is something in your chest that makes you feel as though you shouldn’t go to that event. Sometimes we get these gut feelings that tell us something is off. Like our unconscious mind is sending out a red alert that we haven’t quite worked out yet. Those little nagging feelings, that intuition, is what we are talking about today!! I’ve done a little bit of research and gathered several stories from across the internet of instances in people’s lives where that little gut feeling may have saved their lives. Is it a scientific matter, or is there something in our unconscious connected to something a little more spiritual that could explain these nagging feelings? This week we are returning to England once again and talking about one of the most documented cases of a haunting probably ever! For nearly 18 months, a family of 5 was tormented by what some refer to as a poltergeist, and there were more than 30 witnesses who not only saw for themselves but captured photos and audio recordings of the activity. What started with knocking and objects moving around the home turned to claims of levitation and possibly possession of the youngest daughter. Tucked away in a small market town in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, England, sits a storied building so terrifying that ghost hunters who have explored it vow to never stay alone. The Ancient Ram Inn is hundreds of years old and those who have been brave enough to visit claim there is a dark and oppressive energy residing within. The claims about its past paint a picture of violence, tragedy, and misfortune that lead many to believe a darkness now calls this building home, and some even go as far as saying it is the most haunted house in England. Oftentimes we will tell stories of spirits and hauntings in places where we can’t quite place the origins or reasons for visits from the other side. But then there are certain places where so much harm, bloodshed, and violence have occurred that it’s no surprise when you hear ghostly tales of haunted houses and entities lurking through the shadows. Harpers Ferry, WV is known for its many battles and conflicts before and during the American Civil War, but it is also known to be one of the more haunted places in the US. With spirits of well known founders, rebels, revolutionaries, and victims of unimaginable tragedies, this small town is incredibly interesting. But when you add to it the fact that it’s the halfway point that many hikers stop in as they make their way through the Appalachian Trail, I think Harpers Ferry has its own unique and fascinating story. Ever since we did our first episode on past lives and possible reincarnation, we have been fascinated with the subject. It’s stories like these – of children remembering details from a life they never lived – that have kept us thinking about the afterlife. What really happens before we are born and after we are gone? It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and to kick off the holiday season we are doing a month full of ghost stories, your stories to be exact! Christmastime used to be the time where people would gather around the warm fire and tell each other tales that would send a chill down your spines, and here at Ghosteas it's obviously no different. So, for the month of December, we have gone through and gathered stories from our email for the next 5 weeks and put together some Tea Party material! There’s just something about the vibe at a theme park. If you’ve ever visited one, then I think you know what I mean. The smell of fair food in the air, distant screams from rides towering above you in the sky, and the thrill you get at watching lines of people before you fly in train cars at incredible speeds or dangle stories high as they are shot off into the air. You know that feeling of anticipation (and maybe even suspense) as you slowly watch yourself and a group of strangers with you make their way up to the very top of the first hill on a roller coaster. But what if I told you that between the squeals for joy and the endless days of fun, that many of these parks harbor much more than the people who work tirelessly to keep it all running. What if I told you that many of these parks contain the spirits of those who once visited and unfortunately lost their lives on those grounds. Well that’s what we’re discussing today! Kings Island in Ohio and Lake Compounce in Connecticut both have stories from its past that may explain some of the strange and paranormal reports by guests and staff. We also have several stories from our listeners who have experienced these haunts firsthand!
