Brian Hooker, the American man who was taken into custody in the Bahamas after his wife was reported missing, was released from police custody. His wife Lynette’s family still has suspicions about whether she actually fell off a dinghy. And a local captain is skeptical the weather was really as treacherous as described. The 16-year-old stepbrother of the high school senior who died in November on a Carnival cruise ship has been indicted as an adult by a federal grand jury on charges of murder and aggravated sexual abuse. The defendant, identified only by his initials “T.H.,” was traveling aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Horizon with Anna Kepner and other family members in November. While the ship was in international waters, the stepbrother allegedly sexually assaulted and killed Kepner. The latest on the case, and what happens next, in this episode of Brian Entin Investigates.

Police in the Bahamas have until 7:30 p.m. on Monday to decide whether they will press charges against or release Brian Hooker from custody. Hooker has been in custody since Wednesday, April 8th, when he was brought in for questioning in the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker. Brian told police she fell overboard while they were on a boat ride with the keys, shutting off the boat and leaving him to paddle after her. But Lynette’s family is concerned something more suspicious could have happened.

DNA has been an important component of the Nancy Guthrie case and investigators confirmed they located unknown DNA inside the 84-year-old’s house. But the sample is “mixed” — and progress on locating a suspect seems to be stalled. DNA expert CeCe Moore says she would advise investigators to return to the crime scene to find more samples. A source close to the Nancy Guthrie investigation says deputies within the Pima County Sheriff’s Office are “walking on eggshells” with their department in the national spotlight for alleged mistakes involving the investigation into the missing 84-year-old. The source says there are no suspects — and “no names on the table.” The source says experienced, qualified detectives were not part of the investigation initially which may have had a lasting impact related to progress in the case.
