EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 41-42 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Timestamps: 0:02:34 - Toku News 0:12:36 - Futari wa Pretty Cure 1:02:18 - Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 2:01:41 - Kamen Rider Blade Well, it couldn't last forever. Kamen Rider Blade has finally dropped the ball, and Dekaranger continues to tumble downhill. In Pretty Cure we trust as they're the only show holding it down this week. Hopefully we're just getting the weak stuff out of the way before our finale arcs, right? Just tying up loose ends? Here's hoping. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 39-40 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Timestamps: 0:02:17 - Toku News 0:08:45 - Futari wa Pretty Cure 0:55:41 - Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger 1:41:41 - Kamen Rider Blade Who says endings can't also beginnings? As all three of our shows are starting to pull into the final stops, we have moments of genuine affection and reflection in Futari wa PreCure as our heroes contemplate where they are now. And also Marble Screw is back. Listen turns out also these shows can't shake some established habits, as discarded women and super secret evil CEOs are abound in these episodes. EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 37-38 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Timestamps: Toku News 00:01:39 Futari wa Pretty Cure 00:13:12 Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger 00:52:32 Kamen Rider Blade 01:28:06 Mutsuki. Buddy. These show notes, the heck with these show notes. Almost no one reads them anyway. I'm here to talk to you. Because the thing is, man, you're not doing ok. I don't know if you've noticed, but you lose every fight, usually in embarrassing fashion. You're doing level 1 card tricks to an audience of nobody. Your outfit makes it look like it was a really bad breakup. And the only people who will hang out with you either do it because they're worried about you, or because they're making fun of you and you don't seem to notice. You just need help, man. You need to shake off this funk, and go back to being- oh you sucked before too, just in a different well? Well. Rip, man, I guess you're just toast. EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 35-36 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Look if you wanna get out of stuff, you gotta say it with your whole chest. Or the very least just say it. Lots of unsaid things on these sets of episodes, as Nagisa gets absconded to a chestnut date, Jasmine does what she thinks is right which is morally wrong, and the Tiger Undead proves she barely has to say a thing. We are closing in on the close this week! The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! Our intro music is Scene47 蒼空 ~aoi~ by Kaneko Kazuki, with gratitude. EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 33-34 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade I know vastly more about lacrosse now, thanks to these episodes of Pretty Cure. No, not because of what's IN the episodes, but because I paused mid-episode to read a bunch, and then that knowledge proved to be irrelevant to the episode. This was a predictable outcome. The Dekarangers debut SWAT Mode, and we're sadly a bit underwhelmed. And Kamen Rider Blade continues to turn up the heat, with the plot getting almost as intense as Tachibana is stupid. EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 31-32 of Futari wa PreCure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade The frequency of all three of our shows turning in good work is going up, as PreCure starts working in the new paradigm of the littlest Prince of Light and their new foes, while the Dekas have double trouble with princesses and mob bosses as they work for their next upgrades. And Blade? Not to bury the lede but holy SMOKES it's getting good. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 27-28 of Futari wa PreCure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, andKamen Rider Blade Oh boy. Well, Futari wa Pretty Cure is back in full voice. Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger squanders a good villain then does an episode about how terrified Japanese office workers are of girls reclaiming their sexuality. And Kamen Rider Blade... look, it has to be seen, or heard, to be believed. And not in a positive way. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! EPISODES COVERED: Episodes 27-28 of Futari wa PreCure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade We are past the halfway mark of this season of shows, and we cast a wide net. Pretty Cure starts taking shape into the show we know of in culture, Dekaranger introduces some cool new temporary guys, and Blade... we gotta talk about Blade. It's. A. Lot. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! Our intro music is Scene47 蒼空 ~aoi~ by Kaneko Kazuki, with gratitude. The Scanline Media Discord can be found here!
EPISODES COVERED: 25-26 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade This week: the first half of Futari wa Pretty Cure comes to an end, Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger has an Among Us mystery and a tribute to Fight Club, and Kamen Rider Blade finds the one thing that strains the soul worse than taking a life- breaking a motorcycle. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! Our intro music is Scene47 蒼空 ~aoi~ by Kaneko Kazuki, with gratitude. The Scanline Media Discord can be found here!
EPISODES COVERED: 23-24 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade What a mixed bag of episodes. Pretty Cure is stumbling and stumbling hard towards it's strange mid-series ending, the shifting of roles in DekaRanger, and... ok we gotta talk about the motorcycle thing. Kamen Rider Blade is a roller coaster of contrasts. We really got taken for a ride this week. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! Our intro music is Scene47 蒼空 ~aoi~ by Kaneko Kazuki, with gratitude. The Scanline Media Discord can be found here!
EPISODES COVERED: 21-22 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Ah, the dog days of Pretty Cure are upon us. Or maybe just "day" singular, unless we get ANOTHER episode at some point where there are dogs voiced in Japanese, which feels unlikely. Wait, wait, wasn't last year's PreCure about like your pet becoming a Cure alongside you? Dang. Well, someday we'll get there I think. Meanwhile, Dekaranger gestures at an INCREDIBLE episode and then falls short, merely delivering a fantastic one. And I don't know WHAT Kamen Rider Blade is doing, but that's becoming a routine, isn't it.... The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! EPISODES COVERED: 19-20 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade You ever go running? It's good for your body but I understand why most people don't find it great. Most people just sorta wanna zone out on a treadmill and watch a show or whatever, and that's valid! I just like my little runs outside. Ban isn't hot on the prospect though because he has to disarm PLANET DESTROYING BOMBS all over town! In boots! I'd be sick of running too. There is a lot to like this week as we say goodbye to a really stellar villain and met some new ones! And maybe Tomakazu Seki shows up in strange places. Weird but fun set of episodes this week. EPISODES COVERED: 17-18 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade ACAB includes... retail managers? That's the theory in this week's Kamen Rider Blade episodes, where it supposes that a job at a supermarket entails chasing and tackling perps. Tokuso Sentai Dekaranger takes an uncomfortable angle on Chinese culture, then pivots into Japanese patriotism that may or not be innocent, but it's hard to shake the 2025 connotations of such things. Futari wa Pretty Cure? Poisony shows off a power so staggering that it's hard to imagine how she didn't wrap this thing up weeks ago. We're not CinemaSins-ing, it's just kinda amazing to see. As is the animation, hot damn. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! Our intro music is Scene47 蒼空 ~aoi~ by Kaneko Kazuki, with gratitude. EPISODES COVERED: 15-16 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Boy, this episode really surprised us. Pretty Cure managed to stumble and DekaRanger has some stuff, but Blade really took us somewhere we didn't expect. These episodes gave us plenty to talk about, so long as our heroes can keep it together. Are we heroic podcasters? Doubtful. But we had fun with this one. EPISODES COVERED: 13-14 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade We've reached a landmark, folks. Sure, Pretty Cure has some great villain schemes, and the delight of an evil boy trying to thirst trap a lesbian and failing spectacularly. And Kamen Rider has... evil seaweed, and fridging women. But let's talk about what's truly important. DekaMaster. Is. Here. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! EPISODES COVERED: 11-12 of Futari wa Pretty Cure, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger, and Kamen Rider Blade Look, they all can't be winners. Pretty Cure was good! Nothing stellar but a solid bunch of episodes! Dekaranger started strong too! But BOY the back half of our viewing was rough. Kyrie and Six question some things in this episode. We will not waver but we are a little lost. Hope next week goes better. The incredible artwork for Sunday Henshin Time was provided by Cas! EPISODES COVERED: Futari wa Pretty Cure 9-10, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger 9-10, Kamen Rider Blade 9-10 I wonder if referring to "World of Warcraft sexual dimorphism" even hits anymore. It's the thing in fantasy where like... a male orc is this massive guy with tusks and a craggy face and such, and then female orcs are human-sized hourglass-figured folks that basically look like "what if a sexy lady had green skin." It's that kinda thing. Anyway, this week on Sunday Henshin Time, Mepple gets held hostage by the vice principal, Honoka gets held hostage by jewelry thieves, the jewelry thieves get held hostage by Gekidrago, and Gekidrago is held hostage by a job that doesn't value him. Banban falls in love with a stakeout target, and Kamen Rider Garren becomes scotch whiskey. You'll never guess which one wins the week! EPISODES COVERED: Futari wa Pretty Cure 7-8, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger 7-8, Kamen Rider Blade 7-8 As we continue our transforming hero journey, it's not just the costumes that are being changed. Sometimes over the course of a long enough time, you heart changes too. Maybe there are budding feelings you can't put to words, and that slow change causes so much heartache. But you come out the other side a better, changed person. And sometimes Wesker is there? Oh and psychic power discrimination. These episodes were an odd bunch. EPISODES COVERED: Futari wa Pretty Cure 5-6, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger 5-6, Kamen Rider Blade 5-6 Pretty Cure has a new villain for us. Dekaranger has things to say about capitalism's hunger for oil. Blade has decided to just acknowledge what's going on, and not insult our intelligence. All-in-all, a solid week here on Sunday Henshin Time, where three lineups of transforming heroes face the problems of the week, and rise above. Mostly. Garren does get his butt kicked pretty often. EPISODES COVERED: Futari wa Pretty Cure 3-4, Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger 3-4, Kamen Rider Blade 3-4 Big explosive openings are out of the way, now is time to settle into some grooves. Futari wa is out here building the train while it's already on the tracks, but that's where they like to be. Dekaranger is trying to expand it's characters and setting, and Blade is diving right into some impressively escalated stakes. What will these shows morph into? Something colorful, I am certain.
