Welcome back to Disc Picks, as we continue on with our bracket challenge, this week we're doing the right side of the bracket and boy oh boy, do we have some tough match-ups! Tune in to see who moves on to the next round!

Welcome to a very special episode of Disc Picks! As we wrap up season 1, we're putting our albums through a final challenge to determine our best and most favorite album of 2025. This week, we're doing the left side of our bracket, which can be found here: https://brackethq.com/b/i0q0c/. But, beware, if you look now there will be spoilers as we are a few weeks ahead in recording. This week's match-up shoes in Nirvana and Pearl Jam as a bye, Linkin Park faces off against Weird Al. Rancid goes head-to-head against Cage the Elephant, a battle which will pain TJ as he will have to put down one of his picks. From there, we have a battle in the indie arena as the Black Keys take on The Killers, followed by CCR and Fall Out Boy. Next we have The Strokes up against Childish Gambino, and to wrap it all up this week, we have Two Door Cinema Club versus Dirty Honey. The episode nobody asked for but that everyone wanted. Join us this week for our first panel discussion with Gaby, friend of John, Neil, and TJ. Everyone's favorite returning guest, Breanne, and Joe's wife Erin! That's right folks were two shy of a baseball team on this weeks episode of Disc Picks. 

The year was 1998. Saving Private Ryan, Armageddon, and The Truman Show were in theaters, which meant America was crying, panicking about asteroids, and questioning reality all in the same summer. Britney Spears had just hit us one more time, TRL was basically a religion, and every kid with frosted tips was trying to land a kickflip in their JNCOs before the dial-up disconnected. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time dropped and ruined every game that came after it, South Park was teaching us brand new swear words, and Nu-Metal was kicking down the door with spiked collars and DJ scratches. In the middle of all that glorious chaos, Zebrahead rolled in with Waste of Mind and said, "Hey, what if we mashed skate punk, rap vocals, SoCal energy, and suburban boredom into one big blender and cranked it to eleven?" And, it worked. This was the soundtrack for every kid who felt too punk for the mall and too mall-rat for actual danger. It was messy, clever, fast, loud, and sometimes deeply stupid in the best possible way. So join us this week as the boys deep dive into Joe's Pick: Zebrahead's Waste of Mind. (Wallet chains optional but highly encouraged.)

Wow, sorry about the delay on this drop, folks. We would like to chalk it up to technical difficulties, but really, it was more apathy and laziness. Anyway, the long-awaited Pool Kids episode is here. When we sat down to record this episode, the album was a mere two weeks old, and now it's basically off to college, drinking beers, and making appearances on late-night Girls Gone Wild commercials. Ladies and gentlemen, sorry for the delay with this episode. We experienced some technical difficulties, which caused a delay in its release. Neil's pick this week is Queens of the Stone Age's album Songs for the Deaf! This week, we are joined again by Breanne, who comes back to give her two cents on this iconic album, as well as Neil, John, TJ, and Joe.

Join us this week on Disc Picks as we dive into an album that's equal parts heartbreak, synth-pop, and early-2000s indie perfection: Give Up by The Postal Service. The one-off collab between Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard and electronic maestro Jimmy Tamborello some how managed to capture lightning in a bottle, melding introspective lyrics with glitchy beats and delicate melodies. Cue the intro music.

We've got a special one for you folks, we're without Neil, so we have our very first guest on to discuss this week on Disc Picks, as we head back to 1977 to dive into Billy Joel's The Stranger, an album that took the Piano Man from scrappy Long Island barrooms to global superstardom. With iconic tracks like "Movin' Out," "Only the Good Die Young," and "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant," this record blends pop, jazz, rock, and storytelling into one tight, unforgettable package. Whether you've memorized every lyric or just know him from wedding playlists, this is the album where Billy Joel truly found his voice and made damn sure the world heard it. Let's get into it.
