When you think of snowboarding you think of Halldor Helgason. You can’t have one without the other. With Icelandic roots Halldor has paved his way through the industry and cemented himself as a cornerstone of the sport. Which is ironic because his snowboarding is about as far away from “sport-like” as it can get. He hit a massive roof gap while wearing a neck brace, invented the “jerk-flip,” and continues to have fun and spread joy on his snowboard all season long. Shannon Dunn-Downing is a pioneer. She was an early halfpipe rider who pushed the limits of women's snowboarding constantly. She was the first American woman to win a snowboarding medal at the Winter Olympics when she took bronze in the halfpipe in 1998. On top of that, she then had the first successfully marketed and supported women's pro model snowboard. There's no doubt that documented history is essential for progression. Mia Lambson is here to prove that. Being one of the few women filmers in the snowboarding space gave Mia a unique experience as she found her footing in the industry. She's worked for Snowboarder Mag and Brighton, been a part of countless snowboard films, and worked a ton of jobs outside of snowboarding space as well. This has all led her to her current project: 'Wayward'. She's focused on documenting all of the women in snowboardings past who have played pivotal roles in progression and equality. In turn, she's drawn connections between this progression and the incredible women snowboarders today.
