Everybody Has Advice. Now What the Hell Do I Do? Cutting through weight-loss trends, food rules & wellness noise with Linda Hubbard, RN Fast. Don't skip breakfast. Eat more protein. Cut the carbs. Calories in, calories out. Take this supplement. Try a GLP-1. Just have more willpower. Jesus Christ. No wonder women are confused. In this episode of The Strong, Sweaty & Slightly Inappropriate Podcast, I'm joined by Linda Hubbard, RN, Nutrition Specialist & Private Health Coach, and we're digging into the conflicting health and weight-loss advice women are getting from social media, friends, family, healthcare providers—and sometimes the wellness industry itself. Because here's the problem: A piece of advice can have some truth behind it and still not be the right advice for YOU. Linda and I come at this conversation with nursing backgrounds, years in health and wellness, and a shared belief that improving your health shouldn't require you to obsess over every bite of food, give up everything you love, or wait for the magical Monday when you're finally going to do everything perfectly. And yes, we have opinions. 😂 🎧 In this episode, Linda and I talk about: Why so many women come to us saying, “I'm doing everything right and nothing's working.” Fasting vs. eating breakfast—and why there isn't one answer for everyone The problem with generic advice like “eat less and move more” Why the strategy that worked for you at 25 may not be the strategy your body needs at 45, 55 or 65 Perimenopause, menopause and why your approach may need to evolve as your body changes How social media and marketing turn a tiny piece of truth into the next supposed health miracle Supplements, wellness claims and learning to ask, “What does the actual evidence say?” Why sustainable weight loss shouldn't require giving up pizza, wine, dessert, vacations or your social life The “I'll start again Monday” trap and why one imperfect meal or weekend doesn't require a complete restart Why waiting until January—or until life “calms down”—usually means waiting forever The current obsession with protein, how individual needs vary, and why eating protein doesn't mean forgetting every vegetable on Earth exists Why Linda created her protein calculator to help women find a more individualized starting point Protein, fiber, carbohydrates and fats—and why the word balanced still matters Why carbs aren't automatically the enemy Habit change and why going from zero workouts to five gym days a week probably isn't the brilliant plan you think it is Tiny behaviors that can actually grow into sustainable habits Why Linda would like to officially remove “willpower” from your vocabulary And the simple places both of us recommend starting when you're overwhelmed and don't know what the hell to do first 🥩 FREE RESOURCE: Linda's Protein Calculator Wondering how much protein you actually need? Linda created the To Your Health Protein Calculator & Guide to Protein-Rich Foods to help you find a more individualized protein target—and then understand what that amount of protein actually looks like in real food. ➡️ https://www.toyourhealth360.com/protein-calculator/ Because knowing you “need more protein” isn't particularly helpful if you're sitting there wondering whether that means three chicken breasts and a tub of cottage cheese. 😂 👋 Meet Linda Hubbard Linda Hubbard, RN, Nutrition Specialist & Private Health Coach has more than 25 years of nursing experience, including a background in cardiac and critical care nursing. Her professional experience eventually collided with a very personal health journey: breast cancer, forced menopause, a 30-pound weight gain and a major loss of energy. Linda combined her love of science and research with what she learned through her own experience to create To Your Health Nutrition & Health Coaching, where she works with women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. Her personalized approach supports sustainable weight loss, better metabolic health and more energy without giving up the foods—or the life—you love. Her philosophy: Real food. Real life. Lasting results. My background started in Movement Science and personal training, took a detour through nursing and becoming a Nurse Practitioner, and eventually brought me right back to the health and wellness world. Today, I help busy women understand the bigger picture behind weight, energy, digestion, movement and sustainable health—without turning their entire existence into a diet plan. Because you shouldn't need a PhD in TikTok Wellness Trends to figure out how to take care of yourself. ☕ Coffee & Chaos Takeaway If you're overwhelmed by all the advice, stop trying to change everything at once. Linda's simple starting point? Add one fruit and one vegetable to your day. Mine? Pick a couple of nights this week and get into bed an hour earlier—without scrolling your phone until your eyeballs fall out. Neither one is sexy. Neither one requires a $97 supplement. And that's kind of the point. Health isn't built by finding the one perfect rule. It's built by understanding your body, your life, and the small things you can actually keep doing. . 🎙️ Maybe I Should Just Go on a GLP-1 What weight-loss medication can do, what it can’t do, and the shit we still have to work on You’ve tried losing weight. Again. And again. And again. And eventually the thought creeps in: “Maybe I should just go on a GLP-1.” In this episode of The Strong, Sweaty & Slightly Inappropriate Podcast, Lindsey Petrangelo, APRN, CPT, is talking about the conversation that somehow became completely black and white on the internet: GLP-1 medications and weight loss. This isn’t an anti-GLP-1 episode. These medications can be incredibly helpful tools for the right person. But Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound can’t magically download new habits into your brain, lift weights for you, make sure you’re eating enough protein, fix an all-or-nothing relationship with food, or figure out what the hell you’re supposed to do when life gets chaotic. So instead of asking only, “Should I take a GLP-1?”, we’re asking a bigger question: What needs to exist alongside it? In this episode, we’re talking about: Why considering weight-loss medication doesn’t mean you’ve “failed” What GLP-1 medications actually do in the body Appetite, fullness, and that infamous “food noise” Why eating less doesn’t automatically mean eating well Protein, nutrition, and protecting muscle while losing weight Why strength training matters even more during weight loss The habits a prescription simply cannot build for you How all-or-nothing thinking can follow you even when the weight comes off Why some people may appropriately use GLP-1 medications long-term Side effects and why medical follow-up matters Why this conversation shouldn’t be medication vs. lifestyle What to consider when you feel like you’ve already “tried everything” ☕ Coffee & Chaos Tip of the Week Don’t ask one tool to do an entire toolbox’s job. A GLP-1 can be a powerful tool. So can strength training. So can adequate protein, sleep, stress management, behavioral support, and having some fucking groceries in the house. The goal isn't to find the one magic thing. It's to build enough support that no single thing has to carry the entire load. The takeaway Medication can be part of the strategy. It shouldn't have to BE the entire strategy. Whether a GLP-1 is right for you is an individualized medical decision between you and your healthcare provider. But whether you use medication or not, your nutrition, strength, mindset, habits, and the systems you've built for real life still matter. Because the goal isn't simply to weigh less. It's to build a healthier life you actually know how to live. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook: @inspirewellnessco 🌐 Visit my website: InspireWellnessCo 💻 Ready to take the next step? 🎙 Your Symptoms Are Data Your Symptoms Are Data Why fatigue, cravings, and bloating aren’t random Episode Overview Most people assume symptoms mean something is wrong with them. Low energy? Must be lazy. Cravings? Must be lack of discipline. Bloating? Must have eaten something “bad.” But the body doesn’t work like that. In this episode, Lindsey explains how symptoms are actually metabolic signals — the body’s way of communicating that something in the system needs attention. Instead of blaming yourself or ignoring the signs, learning to understand these signals can reveal what your body actually needs. This episode breaks down the science behind common symptoms and why patterns in your energy, hunger, digestion, and sleep can provide powerful insight into your metabolic health. What We Talk About • Why symptoms are the body’s communication system • The concept of homeostasis and how the body maintains balance • Signs of unstable blood sugar in everyday life • How glucose spikes and crashes lead to cravings and fatigue • The role of cortisol and how chronic stress disrupts metabolism • Why inflammation can affect energy, recovery, and appetite • How recognizing patterns in symptoms can reveal deeper metabolic issues Why This Matters Many people assume their symptoms are random or that they simply need more discipline. But fatigue, cravings, bloating, and energy crashes often reflect underlying metabolic patterns related to blood sugar regulation, stress load, inflammation, and digestion. When you start viewing symptoms as data instead of problems, it becomes much easier to respond to what your body actually needs. Coffee & Chaos Thought of the Week ☕ Your body isn’t sabotaging you. It’s communicating with you. The more you learn to read the signals, the easier your health journey becomes. 🎙️ Habit Change That Doesn’t Suck Why productive people struggle with health — and how to stop starting over If you’re wildly productive in your life but inconsistent with your health, this episode is for you. In this long-form conversation, Lindsey breaks down why capable, driven people often struggle the most with habit change — not because they lack discipline, but because they’re applying productivity to everyone else’s life and winging it with their own body. This episode dives into the psychology and neuroscience behind all-or-nothing thinking, why motivation fails, and how habits actually form in the brain. It’s an honest, funny, and grounding look at why “starting over” feels productive (but isn’t), and how consistency is built through systems, not willpower. You’ll learn why minimums work, why rigid plans collapse under real life, how environment beats willpower every time, and why boring, repeatable habits quietly change your biology over time. This isn’t a hype episode. It’s a relief episode. 💥 Topics Covered: Why productive people struggle with self-directed habits The neuroscience behind all-or-nothing thinking Why motivation fades — and why that’s normal How the 10-minute minimum keeps habits alive Why “falling off” is a myth (and what’s really happening) Productivity vs self-regulation — and why health feels harder How consistency stabilizes blood sugar, hormones, and cravings Non-negotiables as baseline operating requirements Why environment matters more than willpower How default routines reduce decision fatigue Why repetition is freedom, not failure 🧠 The Takeaway: You don’t need more discipline. You don’t need a better personality. You don’t need to try harder. You need habits that work on boring days, chaotic days, and imperfect days — because that’s where real life happens. ☕ Coffee & Chaos Closing Thought: Habit change doesn’t suck. What sucks is unrealistic expectations and plans built for imaginary lives. Consistency isn’t impressive — it’s effective. 🌐 Learn more: https://www.inspirewellnessco.mykajabi.com 📲 Follow Lindsey: @inspirewellnessco 📰 Newsletter: You Might Wanna Know This 💪 Stay strong, sweaty, and slightly inappropriate — and stop making this harder than it needs to be.
🎙️ After the Rush: Why What You Do After Motivation Matters Most Habits, nurture, and building a life that doesn’t require burnout The hype fades. Motivation dips. Real life kicks in. This episode is about what happens after — after the January energy, after the big promises, after the excitement wears off. Because this is where habits either quietly disappear… or quietly change everything. In this episode of The Strong, Sweaty & Slightly Inappropriate Podcast, Lindsey breaks down why consistency matters more than motivation, how habits actually form, and why the “boring middle” is where real progress lives. Inspired by principles from Atomic Habits, this conversation is a reminder that sustainable health isn’t built on discipline or perfection — it’s built on repeatable systems that support real life. If you’ve ever felt like you start strong and then fade out, this episode will help you understand why — and what to do instead. 💥 Topics Covered: Why Week 5 matters more than Week 1 The difference between motivation and systems Why habits beat willpower every time Identity-based habits (and why they stick) What Week 1 inside Vitality Blueprint actually looks like How to build habits that survive chaos Client wins that aren’t about the scale Meal prep that doesn’t ruin your Sunday The mindset shift that stops the restart cycle How nurture creates momentum 🧠 The Takeaway: You don’t need more hype. You don’t need more discipline. You need habits that support who you are — especially on hard days. Progress isn’t built in the exciting moments. It’s built in the quiet ones you keep showing up for. ☕ Coffee & Chaos Tip of the Week: Habits don’t change your life overnight — they change who you become.
