Dr. Odewale’s latest research initiative, Silent Witnesses: The Black Heritage Tree Project (BHTP), seeks to develop the first-ever Global Black Heritage Tree Map. Dr. Kyle Shaney is a wildlife ecologist and National Geographic Explorer based in San Antonio, Texas. His work is rooted in some of the world’s most remote wilderness regions, with a focus on wildlife ecology, biogeography, biodiversity conservation, and human-wildlife conflict. Shaney currently leads projects on crocodilian ecology in Indonesia, human-crocodile conflict in Southeast Asia, and mountain lion ecology in the southwestern United States. Dr Kelly Albus is an environmental scientist and a National Geographic Explorer based in Dallas, TX. With a background in ecology and stream management, Albus has centered her career around environmental education. Her current research explores how community-based education and citizen science influence learning outcomes, attitudes, and pro-environmental behavior.
