Description
I like music and dogs more than humans. That said, dogs don’t speak so I will have some interesting humans as guest and hopefully get a few stories out of them. I also plan on playing many styles of sounds. You can’t beat the power of music, stories and laughter. I try to combine and share all of these on my show.

FEB 13TH WAS PURE JOY WITH DAVE AND BRENDAN TOLLER PLAYING THE FINEST MISH MASH OF THE EARLY SOUNDS OF NEW ORLEANS AND MORE. THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE VIBE. ENJOY!
The Coronas are recording a new record here in Bridgeport about 7 minutes away from WPKN headquarters so Dave asked the boys if they would like to join. They are very nice fellas so even if they wanted to decline, they did not. Turned out to be a great storied conversation mixed with playing tons of music. Thanks to Peter Katis for doing what he does which is produce and mix fantastic bands at Tarquin Studios 7 minutes away from the studio. Thanks Danny, Connor and Knoxy for joining.
DOUG GILLARD (Guided by Voices, Bambi Kino, Nada Surf, Cobra Verde, Death Of Samantha), one of the world's topper most gunslingers spinning tunes and tales with Dave on Storied Sounds... Doug is the king of licks, the rocker that rips. YUP! It all went quite nicely besides a failed phone call from friend of Dave and Doug's, comedian, guitar shredder and cone kicker Dave Hill. BONUS The legendary A & R man/ DJ Howard Thompson drops by to close the show to talk about Bowie, Chris Spedding, Dr Feelgood and Wilko Johnson and Mick Green ie the guitar king from Johnny Kidd and The Pirates. All of that info in less than five minutes.
Chris Frantz regular show on WPKN is "The Talking Head". This week he had a special CBGB themed show with his guest the love of his life and partner in both Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club Tina Weymouth. A few days after this show aired both Chris and Tina joined Dave "Zamboni" Schneider for an annual event the three of them throw titled CTGB NIGHT! Being from CT they added the CT (get it?) In celebration of that event Chris put together a great set of CBGB bands that really hit nicely. All the big ones and some great surprises. All that and Dave and Tina chatting it up too. It's a good show. Enjoy!chris frantztina weymouthdave schneider
12-19-25 Dave welcomes Rob Tannenbaum - writer, author, and record producer. Bylines include The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, Blender, GQ, and his book I Want My MTV. Now, Curator/Producer Rob has a 4-disc set arriving in early 2026 via Cherry Red Records - CBGB: A New York City Soundtrack 1975-1986. The set chronicles the groundbreaking NYC club, digging deep as " the club's best-known bands are present on this compilation but we've also revived interest in dozens of unfairly forgotten acts that, for a moment in time, made an album, EP, 45, or even a demo that crackled with innovation, wit, and joy. CBGB no longer exists, at least not in the physical plane, but what happened between those soot-filled, beer-stinking walls continues to reverberate around the world."
RADIO RADIO! My special guest is an amazing musician whom I have bonded over our love of 90’s 45 records and so much more for years. Ken Maiuri has played with tons of folks/bands since the early 90's. He currently playsand records with one of my all time faves Mark Mulcahy from Miracle Legion and has been playing keys live with The B-52's for many years. Also on the show were singer songwriter rocker Franklin Bruno of a fave band of Ken and Dave's Nothing Painted Blue and also producer/mixer master and Philistines jr and Happiest Guy in The World Peter Katis. This was a stream of consciousness vinyl punch for punch party & it was a blast Ken Mauiri Franklin Bruno Peter Katis Dave Schneider!
In about 1990 Dave bought a cassette compilation from Shrimper Records outta Upland, CA and one song called "At The Mall" thrilled him. He dove in and bought everything that band did. The Mommyheads were that band. 5 years later his band The Zambonis got signed to Dot Dot Dash records in NYC. Record producer and Zamboni and Philistines jr leader Peter Katis was part of the higher ups with the label. Dave said, you have to sign The Mommyheads! We all went to see them play at the old tiny Knitting Factory in NYC and they were mind blowing. Peter ended up producing the 4th record by the band "Bingham's Hole". People loved that record and it was a critical hit. They then signed to Geffen and a wild journey began for the band. They have just put out their 17th record titled "No Quietus". Adam Elk is a force of nature at everything he does. His work ethic is equal to Peter Katis. They are both the guest on this episode of Storied Sounds. Bonus! Two in studio performances from Sir Adam Elk.
THE BIG SHOW! Dave chats and plays songs with the men behind two of his fave wonderfully bizarre shows ever, MTV’s Oddville and NYC Cable Access Beyond Vaudeville. Ladies and gents, Rich Brown and Steven Korn. It’s hard to explain what these fellers and their crew do and did, discovered Underdog Woman/Suzanne Muldowney, Joe Franklins hip step kids, guest from Tiny Tim, Guided By Voices, Rev Al Lewis, Ween, melodic hand farters, Fred Willard etc etc. it’s going to be a real humdinger. A last minute schedule brain fart (no guest) by Dave ends up being a real personal joy ride shared with listeners. From Groucho Marx starting things off to The Misfits. Unplanned first were hopefully achieved. NRBQ's 1972 "Things To You" into Genesis Abacab LP 1983 "Keep It Dark" is what Dave was looking to do. Also the first ever DOUBLE ROCK BLOCK of Australia's Daddy Cool occurred. How bout that rare JOhn Leckie produced jangly shinier version of The La's classic "There She Goes Again' into The Misfits "Last Caress"! It all happens here. Enjoy!
Yes that MICKY DOLENZ! Oh, and yes that Rich Dart too! The Monkees legend and so much more drops in on the show to unveil new and amazing facts about John Lennon kicking softballs (seriously) and who taught him drums. Speaking of drums, also a guest on the show is not only Micky's drummer for 16 years but Dave and The Zambonis drummer too, THE ONE AND ONLY RICH DART! Oh yeah, almost every song played on this show references a monkey.
Episode 2: Dave plays some tunes and then brings in one of the great bands who just come from a different planet. They don't sound like any other groups and that feet is not easy. The Philistines jr are Peter and Tarquin Katis. They were so good in 1990 that it took me two years to convince them to start a a band that only writes songs about hockey. I knew how to pick my friends/bandmates. Their music/approach to making music and producing that music yourself was priceless. Peter went on to record over 200 records including Interpol's first two records, many of The National's records, Frightened Rabbit, Guster and so so much more. Also on the show is film maker and old friend Paul Yates talking about his new film "Baby Teeth".
Episode 1 of a possible long or short career of unpaid but heartfelt/passionate radio with me Dave Schneider and my new show titled "Storied Sounds". The plan for this show is to play any music I like and would like to stick in your ears and then bring on a guest to talk to and, play more music. My first guest was not only a last minute one at that, he partied throughout the night before at a Scissor Sisters show in Phillie. He drove four hours back to CT, got in at 7:30am and was on the radio live at 9am. Rock n Roll! Oh, that guest is multi instrumentalist and leader of a great band called Old Bob. Brian was in Caravan Of Thieves and Raisin Hill previously.
