Come join us as we talk spice meters, romance book world terms and sex. We'll be having monthly read-a-longs where we read a hot new release in two segments so you can enjoy a chat with fellow fans as you read and wonder what is going to happen! In this episode we're talking about "Heated Rivalry" the show vs the book with our friend Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. Jeffrey identifies as Queer and was a judge on Ru Paul's Drag Race All Stars. You've also seen him on: UnReal; American Horror Story; Doogie Kamealoha MD; and with Cait on "Campfire Christmas". It's a great conversation where we get the queer perspective on the show as a whole and just how much representation really matters.
The Winter Olympics have started, Valentine's Day is around the corner, we're not trapped in January anymore but the weather is still yucky. What you need is another installment of your favorite gay hockey couple: Shane and Ilya. Enter, The Long Game by Rachel Reid. It's book six in the game changer series, but it continues Shane and Ilya's story shortly after we left them in Heated Rivalry. Romance + Winter themed sport + Cozy fave couple = your next read! We're covering books 4 and 5 of the ACOTAR series. Aka: the blue on and the orange one! We get a holiday novella and we move our focus from Feyre and Rhysand to Nesta and Cassian. And like everyone else we try our hand at predicting when we will get book 6!
First we gotta finish talking about "A Court of Mist and Fury" then we dive into "A Court of Wings and Ruin". We cover a lot in this episode! It's Rhysand and Feyre, their epic love story. This is the fairy smut that has us hooked for life. Rhysand is our ultimate book boyfriend, but what is he? Morally grey? Shadow Daddy? A secret Cinnamon Bun? Or is he just Rhys...and no others compare...
Today we're talking about book 2 in the ACOTAR series: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. (Also, affectionately referred to as the green one!) A LOT happens in this book and we tried not to miss a thing, even if we get a little jumbled up in our recap...And we give you our pumpkin spice meter for book 1 and 2 in this episode!

Happy New Year! Did you catch up on your TBR over the break? We're back and starting 2026 with a hot off the press romance: In Your Dreams by Sarah Adams. We're back in Rome, Kentucky (for some of us it's our first visit) with Madison and James as they fall in love building a hot new restaurant on a farm. This is a delightful, light read to get you going in the New Year!
Big news, we're so excited: we have an instant holiday classic discovery! Christmas Fling by Lindsay Kelk is so much fun, in a castle, in the Scottish Highlands, with a hot 6'4" Scot and our FMC is a neurosurgeon. You will be laughing out loud and devouring every minute. The audio book is excellent, the playlist is pure holiday joy and we loved it all!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled holiday programming this December to talk about Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid. There was no way we weren't hopping on this train and the book is deserving of ALL the hype and we are so excited to be talking about. Oh there's a show too...have you seen it? Shane and Ilya are hockey stars, rival players and they fall in love, but can they find a way to be open with themselves and the world about it?
It's time to talk about Court's all time favourite holiday romance re-read! In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren is a delightful holiday treat, this is the groundhog day trope done right. This book gives serious nostalgia and swoon worthy childhood crush feels. Spend the holidays with a crew reminiscent of "The Big Chill" (but way less drama) in a snowy cabin setting.
This book reads like a Christmas Hallmark movie, but with spice! We needed the spice in this one. Key take aways: Does anyone know the name of the girl in The Nutcracker? We're kind of on the mom's side when it comes to fancy holiday decorations.December has just started and already were drowning in our to do lists and TBRs!
We have a new favourite holiday read to talk about: Good Spirits by B.K. Borison brings a ghostly boyfriend to our realm and we're here for it. This is so much more than just another play on A Christmas Carol, trust us, you will be pleasantly surprised by the ride this story takes you on. Grab a cup of peppermint tea and cozy up by the tree it's holiday romance reading season.
We finished "Brimstone" by Callie Hart and now we're talking about all of it! Which of our theories came true and what surprised us. Also, we have more theories after that ending...Ugh, can't believe we have to hang on now until the third book comes out. Does anyone know how long we'll be waiting?

It's not Kevin in this book, it's Max (aka: Atlas) and this cinnamon bun MMC is quite the goofball, but he's 6'4" and hardly incompetent in bed...We're talking all about our first Holiday Romance of the season today: Merry Christmas You Filthy Animal by Meghan Quinn. Join us as we talk about this slapstick comedy romance book that riffs on one of our all time favourite holiday movies Home Alone.
