The Cavs had one of their craziest games of the year in a 122-119 loss to the Detroit Pistons. In what might have been the wrost officiated game of the season the NBA admitted the refs blew a handful of calls late in the 4th quarter. The Cavs got huge performances from Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen while Donovan Mitchell and James Harden remained sidelined.Harden returned and had a big game against the Brooklyn Nets in a 106-102. Harden dominated the 3rd quarter and Evan Mobley was great in the 4th to salvage the final game of their road trip. The games next play the Pistons again in Tuesday night before having 4 days off. We will be back Wednesday night to break down the game. Welcome to our 7 episode series revisiting the 2016 NBA Finals 10 years later. Today we break down the epic Game 4 with our special guest Bob Schmidt from the Fear The Fro podcast. The Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA championship! Cleveland, this is for you!Game 4 was a heartbreaker for the Cavaliers, losing 108-97 to the Golden State Warriors to go down 3-1 in the series. Steph Curry had his best game of the finals, scoring 38 points while hitting seven 3-pointers. Klay Thompson chipped in 25 points for the Warriors. Kyrie Irving was very good for the Cavs with 34 points. Unfortunately it was not enough for Cleveland as Lebron James had his worst game of the finals, having 25 points and 13 rebounds offset by 7 turnovers and lack of aggressiveness.Luckily for the Cavs Draymond Green decided to punch Lebron in the groin, drawing a suspension for Game 5, and Klay Thompson decided to call out Lebron in the post game conference. This is when it starts getting really fun Cavs fans! Thanks for listening to our 2016 NBA Finals revisited series. Welcome to our 7 episode series revisiting the 2016 NBA Finals 10 years later. We do a deep dive into each game and celebrate the most unlikely comeback in NBA history. The Cleveand Cavaliers won the NBA championship! Cleveland, this is for you!Game 2 was possibly the lowest moment of the NBA Finals for the Cavs, losing 110-77 to go down 2-0 in the series. The game was still in striking distance early in the third quarter before the Warriors ended up outscoring the Cavs by 25 in the second half. Draymond Green was the star for the Warriors while Lebron James and Kyrie Irving both had their lowest point totals of the finals. To make matters worse Kevin Love suffered a concussion, leaving his availability for the rest of the series in doubt. Thanks for listening to our 2016 NBA Finals revisited series. The NBA trade deadline has come and gone while the Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the most active teams. We briefly touch on the acquistions of Dennis Schroeder, Keon Ellis, and James Harden as well as the salary dump of Lonzo Ball. We also look back at a few of our predicitions for what the Cavs would do.While the entire NBA was making trades the Cavs also won two games on their West Coast trip. They handled Portland 130-111 behind the best game of Jarrett Allen's career (40 points and 17 rebounds). They also manhandled the LA Clippers 124-91 in the Cavs debut of Schroeder and Ellis. Our next epsiode will be Sunday to recap the upcoming game against the Sacramento Kings and discuss the last stretch before the All Star Break. Kevin and Skylar discuss the horrible trade between the Cavs and the Clippers.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-block-the-shot-the-stop--6772702/support.GO CAVS!
The Cleveland Cavaliers made their first big move of the trade deadline, sending De'Andre Hunter to the Sacramento Kings for Dennis Schroeder and Keon Ellis. Schroeder offers the Cavs Darius Garland insurance as well as the ability to manage Donovan Mitchell's minutes down the stretch as he has been heavily relied on all season. Ellis is a near elite 3 and D player who profiles as a key rotation player off the bench.Hunter was a source of frustration with Cavs fans, seemingly the perfect SF compliment to the Core 4 but never quite giving the team what they needed from him. This season was especially disappointing as Hunter is having his least efficient ofensive season of his career. The Cavs will be looking to make more moves by Thursdays trade deadline. They also have a game tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers. We will be back on Thursday unless there is another trade that brings us back sooner.
