Cockiness is when confidence outruns competence.
not my cup of tea but the guys have good chemistry
On the poor image of tradesmen. I think the only measure we have of the respect that tradesmen held in the past, was written accounts of them and their work. So we see accounts set down by only the ones who DID respect these tradesmen. It's like when people talk about old houses were but better. It's easy to buy into this narrative, because we only see the the ones that are left and didn't fall apart. Same way with furniture. Only the best has survived.
Think on this: Now we're discussing panelization or cordless verses corded. Going back: hand nailed verses nail guns or (the extreme) hand saw verses power saw. I feel like I am doing quality work because I use the optimum mix of tools and skills. I also have studied our history to enhance my work with SOME of the older methods.
Excellent job guys,a very organic conversation!
this one was just unbelievable. thank you very much for this.
