Description

Brant Hansen is from small-town Illinois, and is a self-professed nerd, diagnosed with Asperger's as an adult. He's a fan of C.S. Lewis and toast. "Producer Sherri", also a radio veteran, is from Pittsburgh, has one of the world's great laughs, and demonstrates incredible patience with Brant. Both are believers in Jesus, but have difficulty fitting in with modern American church culture. Together they have a daily radio show that is syndicated across the country, with segments ranging from the latest animal news, to interactions with listeners, to discussions about how messy life can be, and how good God is. In the case of Paul's cloak and Peter's shadow....that power was only for the Apostles during the initial building of the church. And the only thing that qualified a person to be an Apostle was meeting Jesus and being called by Him, face to face. Paul was the last biblical Apostle. The rest of us are Disciples. And yes, God still heals supernaturalally, at His own will. But most people take these Scriptures and corrupt them for thier own glorification and monetary gain.

Just to encourage the men who are struggling not having a group of guys that they can do life with.... My husband didn't have that until nearing his 40's when we found a home church and intentionally got involved. We had no idea what we were missing by not being an active part of the body of Christ. But now, he has found close relationships with a few men and it's been a beautiful thing to whiteness as a wife, seeing the friends and accountability partners/mentors, and now he's mentoring others.

About the Ghost writing thing.... I agree that it's wrong for this to occur in the Christian context. Two wrongs do not make a right. Two lies don't equal one truth. As a reader, I would lose 100% respect for the "Christian" lying to me.

FINALLY! Thank you for discussing this topic! I gave up yoga a few years ago....and the irony is that I was mad at first. Everything Sherri described as so real in regards to the emotions I had while avoiding the 'why' behind my frustration. I kept saying, "Yes!" to things you were mentioning in this episode. Keep up the great conversation about these things. We mustn't be ignorant as a church, nor should we sensationalize it. We need to be of sober mind, putting on the full armor of God daily.

I've been working this eschatology issue out as well recently and I am leaning toward the rapture, 1 Thess 5, as a separate event from the "One is taken away" from Mattt 24 event at the end of the millennial reign. Dr. Abner Chou has some great info regarding this topic.

Sherri, I appreciate how you brought up the passage in James that discusses the evolution of sinful behavior. Spot on! James 1:13-15 ESV [13] Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. [14] But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. [15] Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

Santification was the word that came to mind while you two were discussing not having a sudden moment of conversion, yet knowing who Christ was for some time. I always felt like I knew Christ as my Father who saved me when I was a child (don't know when that began), yet that "moment" that felt like the turning point in my understanding of who He truly is and my desire to know Him on a deeper level wasn't until my early 30's. Great episode, as all of them are. Thank you all for being here for us.

I really appreciated the "What I'm think'in bout" segment. I can definitely see the correlation between the story of Job and our world today as you described. However, I wouldn't be able to equate Job with all humans. First being that there were many people in that text, and we would need to place symbolism to all of them. Secondly, Job would represent the faithful believers, as the church only, those two follow no one just Christ. Because if we equate Job as all humans, we then would have to dismiss the promises of God to punish those who reject God and his mercy (Matt 25:31-46). Anyhoo, just what I'm thinking bout. 🧐 Keep up the great work you two! You are such a blessing and always bring laughter and thought-provoking topics. -C

The conversation about the Irish Blessing and how Heather feels the Holy Spirit present in those moments, and why we get teary-eyed, reminded me of Philippians 4:8-9. Wonderful interview, thank you for having her on.

A lot of red flags went up with Patrick's stances and thoughts on Jesus. If we throw up our hands and walk away from the responsibility that's been given to the America citizens, we're not tending to the garden God had us born into. Were being passive and essential being cliché by using the "jesus take the wheel" mantra. However, no man/candidate should be put on a pedestal or idolized. And no, we'll never find a perfect human to run a political office, in that sense we'll never find a perfect man to be a pastor. We're citizens of Heaven, waiting to be perfected when we go home. But I do believe God has given us responsibility with the authority God's allowing us while we're here, no matter where we're born.

Thoughts about the "Dilemma street segment", Tim Keller has some very unbiblical views about what it means to follow Christ. I would reccomend to 'Jack' the book "knowing God" by Paul Washer. It's easier to understand self-sacrifice for the sake of Christ when we better understand our sin and what it took to fulfill that eternal debt thought the sacrifice of Jesus. It helps put in perspective what grace is.

Heb 7:25 for the guy who was worried about sinning after he was saved, we are all sinful creatures and will be lucky to make it through a day without some kind of sin of thought or deed. But praise Him, he lives to constantly make intercession for us!

Referring to the fella who sinned after he was saved: aren't we after all sinful creatures who will be lucky to make it through a day without needing to confess some sinful thought or otherwise. But he lives continually making intercession for us. Heb 7:25 love you guys bunches! thank you for what you do
