Description

Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Christians a supposed to rest in God. Ps63 says it beautifully: under the shadow of His wings. What allows such rest? First, His POWER. It is like a thunderstorm. So says Psalm 29. Second, know He's got not only the power, but also the SECRET THINGS taken care of. So says Psalm 131. I will rest under the shadow of His wings Ps 63.because of the power displayed, ps29, and the power secret to me, ps131. https://youtu.be/_n7N7PgEWVw

Pro tip: when you feel "forgotten by God" you will be feeling like it will be forever. Just ask David, as he works through an (inaccurate) season recorded in Psalm 13. He feels like God is hiding His face forever. He is challenged on that day: what do you do on the day when you "cannot find God" He does the right thing and asks that the Lord would give light to his eyes: let me see this situation clearly; with the light of insight that only comes from You. Then with this renewed underst...

What DID you throw at God on your finest day? What DID you throw at God on your worst day? "Praise" literally means to throw. To cast. We might directionally hurl praise, which is to steer correct attributes in His direction. What you are throwing at God? Share. https://youtu.be/KKnPA8AOBX0
Anger is a huge destructive force that can ruin relationships outside of yourself and even inside your own soul. David realizes this in Ps 39. He has pretty good control of his tongue, but his heart is burning hot. He makes the turn away from anger internally. He is struck by his anger. He realizes this is not what he wants to be doing with his remaining few moments on this earth. Let's imitate this. https://youtu.be/7wrDEvqmklU
The Psalms are of course a book of WORDS, but they are supposed to be conveying something: ideas, realities. One of the ways it does that most effectively is to paint a physical picture with the words that it uses. Here's one for today the Lord DRAWS US UP. Where? to Himself. How? by bending towards us. Who? to the meek, the bent. So my prayer for us is: May the Lord BEND DOWN to DRAW UP the BENT OVER. subscribe for more Pictures Painted With Words https://youtu....
Today will be my mother's favorite verse: “Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:11. But who are we? Ps 8:4: what is man that you are mindful of him? Revelation 21:3 “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them...
What does God think about? Imagine we could look through the windows of heaven itself. What would we find Him occupied with mentally? Well, He tells us in Psalm 8. His mind is full of YOU.
