Description

Join Andy and Jon, two friends who have discussions with invited guests about their personal relationships with automotive nostalgia and family history.

Each episode kicks off with us asking our guest “what’s your earliest car memory?”
From there it’s a journey back through time towards the modern day, but generally focusing on vehicles we remember from childhood.
We ask about siblings, neighbours, music, smells, smoking, breakdowns, selling, buying, accidents and more.

Despite the podcast title, we don’t discriminate against cars belonging to other people, such as Mum’s, Gran’s, Uncle’s, Aunts, friends, or even a neighbours.
If those cars made an impression, we want to talk about them.

Send a text To mark this momentous achievement in the life of the podcast, Andy steps into the guest hot seat and is interviewed by Jon and co-host Paul Harding (previous star of S4E4). This episode will also be published the day after Andy's 43rd Birthday and 3 years and 3 days since the first episode was aired. Enjoy tales of engine swapped Vauxhall Cavaliers, a mechanic with an underground workshop and a collection of Porsche race cars. Caravan Holidays, Vauxhall Astras, a super rar...
Send a text We're joined by Gracie Haddon, from the StarterMotor Charity, an organization that helps young people to create careers in the classic automotive 'ecosystem'. We chat about Gracie's upbringing - her Dad's work as a writer of Classic Vehicle books, and how they would travel around Europe, with a photographer, to meet and document owners of rare and cherished vehicles. Family holidays were taken in a Jeep Cherokee, and spent in an Airstream Caravan kept just outside of H...
Send a text We recorded this live at the NEC Classic Motor Show, in the back of a Land Rover Campervan! Our guest is the founder and CEO of Iconic Auctioneers - the massive auction at the show, Nick Whale. Nick's Dad was a Car Dealer, so its safe to say cars are in his blood. His Dad imported a Camaro when he was young, and then as a the CEO of a successful chain of car dealerships, would buy a brand new Rolls Royce each year, and did this for many years on the bounce. Sadly, his fellow class...

Send a text We're joined by long time listener of the podcast Andrew Robinson. We first spoke at the NEC in 2024, when he gave us a taster of his car story, but we finally scheduled some time to do the full episode properly, and what a fascinating set of vehicles he recalls. A 30's Rolls Royce, a classic Alfa Coupe, BMW 6 series, Mum's 2002, and his late brothers' Beach Buggy. A big thanks to our new podcast sponsor Viking Covers. If you are looking for quality and customizable in...
Send a text Barney was the first of our live interviews at the 2025 Classic Car Show at the NEC. As Andy's boss, he's known Barney for 18 years, but this is the first time he had interviewed him. We start things off with a bucket and a gritty sponge, with him helping to clean his Dad's yellow Mk1 Escort Mexico. We stay in that car for drives to the South of France, including knocking the exhaust off on the ferry with some frequency. There was a teacher at Barney's school with an R...
Send a text We’re joined by Jez Hayter the founder of Mythron Cars who produce a bespoke, reinvented modified Austin Healey Sebring Sprite for the modern day. Discussion starts with the charm of playing Action Men and moves into a 50’s Wolsley which belonged to his Grandfather - complete with fold out rear picnic tables. Later we speak about their family Renault 18 estate, which took the family to Norway for two years, Jez would sit in the middle, something he was particularly pro...

Send a text It was a real pleasure to sit down with the legend that is Mike Brewer at the NEC Classic Car Show. We recorded this live, in front of lots of people, so please excuse the blip in sound quality - we've done the best with what we had. Things start off with a real 'one off' hat flying out the car and back in again earliest car memory, before we hear about the custom cars his Dad built, including the Ford Pop called 'Pinball Wizard' which has been replicated a number of times i...
Send a text We're back, and we've never been busier!! We recorded 3 full episodes over Friday and Saturday, and also found 21 show goers to each share their earliest car memories with us. If we spoke to you, thank you very much, and we hope you enjoy hearing your memories back again and all the others we recorded too (with even better sound quality this year, thanks to our sponsor Viking Covers). A big thanks to our new podcast sponsor Viking Covers. If you are looking for quality...
Send a text We’re joined by automotive artist Ian Cook this week. Better known as Pop Bang Colour, he produces artwork using model cars instead of brushes, and has created paintings at motoring events for almost 20 years. He even painted a giant Lewis Hamilton for Reebok, earning a Guinness World Record in the process. In a similar fashion to last episode’s guest, Ian remembers identifying parts of cars from the back seat of his parents Metro, he could even work out a vehicle by its tai...
Send a text Welcome along to the guys from Viking Covers who are sponsoring the podcast for the duration of Season 7. We have a quick chat about what they do, what it means for us, what we can do for them and also, what we would do if Yankee Candle approached us and wanted to collab! Please do check out Viking Covers here: www.vikingcovers.co.uk A big thanks to our new podcast sponsor Viking Covers. If you are looking for quality and customizable indoor or outdoor vehicle co...
Send a text We’re joined by car designer and writer Andy Plumb for the first episode of the long awaited season 7. Andy (host) wanted to be a car designer growing up so hearing from Andy Plumb as to how he made his dream a reality, was fascinating. It turns out, writing a letter to Ford asking how he should make it happen; and Ford replying with a step by step guide was just what he needed! We talk about Ford Sierras, Citroen 2cVs, Reliant Robin’s and the Morgan Super 3 and spotti...
Send a text We've just found out we'll be podcasting at the NEC Classic Car Show again this year. You'll be able to find us on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November at the new Podcast Cafe in the middle of hall 3. Our guests are TBC but rest assured we'll be digging deep for all the nostalgia, and doing our usual vox-pop recordings with plenty of show goers. We can't wait - and we hope to see you all there. Season 7 will start properly on Tuesday 4th November (not long to wait now)...
Send a text Despite our lack of new content for a month or two, it's been lovely to still have people tuning in and discovering what we are all about. Equally, the recording has continued and there's even been a bit of editing too - Season 7 is in progress! For now though, allow us to entertain you with details of our recent trip to Goodwood Revival. A great event, with brilliant historic racing. This prompts a discussion on the 100th episode (we're currently on 86) and Andy being the g...
Send a text We're joined for this episode by guest co-host Paul Harding. Paul is a previous guest, and was featured on S4 E4. Today's actual guest is Gary Handa. He's currently working with Sporting Bears supporting their marketing and media activity. His parents are both Doctors, and came to this county from India with only a small amount of cash in their pockets. Gary is rightfully very proud of what they made of themselves, and equally, the pride he remembers his fa...
Send a text Prepare your ears for 10 minutes or so of bonus MDC content based around car parking… After a recent trip to the town centre, Andy’s found the multi-storey carpark now demands you pay in advance rather than upon return to your vehicle. It’s a cash grab, and a pain in the backside! Jon’s pet parking peeve is people leaving shopping trolleys in the spaces, we discuss whether you should be able to pay for a trolley by card, and even if the cattle grid ‘anti theft’ system used t...
Send a text We're joined today by Katie Ramsay-Gough, a car enthusiast and Director of Driven Minds, a support group promoting mental health awareness in the motorsport paddock. You can find out more about Driven Minds here: Home - Driven Minds Katie, by her own admission has a terrible memory, but with some pre-show reminders from her brother she recalls a green Rover saloon as her earliest car memory. It was an ex-company car, not much to look at by all accounts, although treated to a slipp...
Send a text Join us for a 5 minutes of bonus chat about utilizing Cockney Rhyming Slang in reference to vehicles of the past. A VW Jetta could be a Red Setter, a Hans Solo a VW Polo, a Nelson and Winnie a Mini. Trying to get further ideas we turned to Chat GPT, but sadly the magic of rhyming slang is lost on AI, and its suggestions were all laughable for the wrong reasons... Pretty pony and trap to be honest. Can you think of any good ones? Get in touch - we'll sort a mug ou...
Send a text This week we are joined by Nathan Tregonning, the man behind the Mental Health Car Club, and in Jon's absence, we welcome a special guest host (and previous guest himself) Paul Gardner from Speed Broker. Nathan's earliest and fondest car memory was travelling to Whitby in his Grandad's Sierra Cosworth. From memory it was a navy blue 3 door, although that was based on an aged photograph. The 1982 registration must be a mistake, perhaps it was on a personalized number plate? Everyon...
