Description
Anyone paying attention can tell you that our criminal legal system is perpetuating cruelty and harm, but the complexity of the legal world overwhelms most people simply trying to get through another day.
Public Defenseless explores the rot in the justice system and what we can do about it. Join host, Hunter Parnell, as he interviews top defense attorneys and criminal justice stakeholders from across the country as they pull apart the convoluted web of our criminal justice system.
Like so many of you, Hunter is not an attorney, simply tired of a news cycle and talking heads that offer no real solutions to the ever-growing list of problems we face. Hunter hopes that with this information, you will share his belief that ordinary people still can make a difference.

Suffering with drug addiction, he reached the point where it thought it would be a good idea to get into a shootout with police officers. In a moment of clarity, he put down the weapon and started his road to recovery. Thanks to the work of an attorney who understood the power of pre-trial mitigation work, Max was able to get sober and avoid jail time. Now, Max works with people, who like him, need non-carceral treatment plans to help them escape the criminal legal system. This is an excellent episode There were so many valid points discussed. There is a formula the ADAs use to get convictions, and they use it over and over again. In addition, if a defendant doesn't break under pressure and take a plea, the ADA takes it personally. Prosecutors fraternize with the judges.. Serious misconduct unravels during trial, and the judges don't correct it. It's about winning. ADAs don't want a loss on their record and will do whatever it takes to win. Truth has nothing to do with the American justice system.
