If Kirby swallowed a boss from Metal Gear Solid, what absolutely bonkers power would he obtain? Which of the X-Men would be the biggest bummer of a roommate? Is King Bob-Omb's rule officially recognized by the Mushroom Kingdom or is Bob-Omb Battlefield a sovereign nation? Debate This! asks the kind of bold and heroic questions about your favorite video games and comics that no other podcast would dare ask. Although, it's probably because other people have better things to do than argue which color of Yoshi is the best color of Yoshi.
In this show, no one is right, but someone is definitely wrong.

Society is collapsing all around us and 4 out of 5 dentists say it's because people don't have "Third Places" anymore. Everyone has home, the "First Place." Everyone has work, the "Second Place." But so few of us have the mythic "Third Place" that allows us to hang out, unwind and exist without spending an exorbitant amount of energy. Well, in hopes of saving society, we're turning to video games to find our next leisure space. Andrew has biplanes. Matt has buckets. Todd has battle games. It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. But, how did we get here? Was the deified head of the Imperium of Man always a rotting corpse sitting atop an actual golden throne? And, how did the universe become littered with zombified men mutating into horrifying flesh demons? It's been a minute, but we're treading back to the grim, dark future of Warhammer this month. Namely, we're talking all about the most pivotal era of the lore's long, long history, the Horus Heresy! Come and join our fellow Warhammer junkie and Acolyte of Chaos Andrew as he details this defining moment for the once-thriving Imperium. Imgur gallery: https://imgur.com/a/debate-this-flavor-text-horus-heresy-j2sIgfr This month's FLAVOR TEXT was commissioned by...nobody! This was all from Andrew's brain. If you like to talk to tomatoes, if a squash can make you smile, if you like to waltz with potatoes, then I hope you're ready to learn about tax evasion. That's right everyone, we're doing Veggie Tales! But the execs at DT!HQ have asked that we "do secular Veggie Tales." That's why we're on the hunt for the next great literary work to be adapted by Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber. Todd is riding a bike. Matt is surviving spread. Kyle is breaking out of jail. Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS. One day, war broke out between the two races. After a long battle, the humans were victorious. When a podcast records its ninth season premiere, it begins to ponder its relevance. Are people still listening? Are there any debates left to be had? Have we done all the bits there are to do? When these questions begin to plague a podcaster, they return to their roots: Pokémon and formative British literature. Don't worry, we found another bit! This time we're building Pokémon games on a budget. Kyle suggests standardization. Matt suggests recycling. Andrew suggests seizing the means of production. The title of this week's episode was NOT selected by our Patrons in our Discord Community because we didn't want to spoil the bit! 2025 has been the year of the LIVE! show at DT!HQ, so we're capping off the season with one more. Back in July, we braved the muggy streets of downtown Pittsburgh, PA and had our largest crowd yet at Tekko! With large crowds comes large responsibility and thus we asked: which IRL job would make the best subject matter for a JRPG? Andrew is marketing, Todd is installing, and Kyle is at home in bed. DONATE TO FEED AMERICA HERE: https://teamfeed.feedingamerica.org/participants/Debate-This After seven non-denominational winter gift exchanges, we here at DT!HQ decided to change things up. We've gifted each other so many ridiculous video game peripherals that we forgot to set aside a game to play! Well we summoned the Ghosts of Gaming's Past, Present and Future to teach us about the winter, non-denominational holiday could be. They're going to lead us through a retrospective journey as we determine which cancelled video game of yore should be revived for gamers in 2026. Andrew is ready to show us what you can do with infinite crowd funding money. Kyle is ready to show us what you can do if you don't feed into corporate monopoly. DONATE TO FEED AMERICA HERE: https://teamfeed.feedingamerica.org/teams/PodcastersFightHunger There's so much pleasure in the simple. The joy that comes from simple, arcade beat 'em up games is unmatched by the AAA gaming experience. Also, the joy that comes from reality TV shows like the Simple Life is unmatched by anything with cultural significance. This week, we're combining two simple things to make one, slightly more complicated thing! Gather all your quarters because this week we're turning beat 'em up games into reality TV shows! There's just so much content! Not only is there more content than any one person could ever consume, but the glut of content has also made it difficult for any one property to make a cultural splash. Back in the 2000s, a single TV show or movie could make such a big cultural splash that they would spawn a tie-in video game! It may be hard to believe, but people used like content so much that they wanted more of it! That's why we here at DT!HQ are getting nostalgic and determining "which current TV show deserves a tie-in video game?" Andrew is redefining the corporate ladder. Matt is taking us to Newark, New Jersey. Todd is forcing us to stare into the trash pile. The title of this week's episode was selected by our Patrons in our Discord Community! We're careening towards the Holiday Season which brings quality time spent with family you may or may not love. Well, do you know the quickest way to improve time spent with family you may or may not love? With traditional table games you may or may not love, of course! Unfortunately, traditional table games just don't hit the same in 2025. Luckily, roguelites like Balatro and BALL x PIT have paved a way for these beloved pastimes to reenter the gamer lexicon. That's why we're spending this week deciding which card or board game would make the best roguelite. Kyle is talking about a game you've heard of but probably don't understand. It's week 3 of the Spooktacular Express and this is, without a doubt, the scariest episode we've ever done. Put on your helmets, tune in and drop out as we take you to the realm of your VR nightmares. To make things even spookier, we've enlisted the "help" of an amorphous, soulless, faceless monster: generative AI. That's right, we're combining a game series with AI Slop(TM) to create the most terrifying VR experience possible. Andrew is taking us back to a game we almost remember. Kyle is taking us to the government. Todd is taking us to a pervert cave. *DISCLAIMER: This episode is a bit. We here at DT!HQ think that AI sucks and we don't condone its use in creative spaces. The year was 1979 and a scrappy little 16 year old named Richard Garriott started coding his friends' latest Dungeons & Dragons campaign into an Apple II. This is the small domino that fell over to eventually result in millions of players worldwide romancing a bear 30+ years later in Baldur's Gate 3. How did we get there? Well, there's a lot of answers to that question but a predominant step was through the landmark CRPG series, Ultima. *Insert train whistle here* Did the Spooktacular Express sneak up on you? Because it snuck up on us! We blinked in January and suddenly it became Spooky Season. Even though we got caught on our heels, we're still confident that we can pull together the best Halloween party the internet has ever seen. To make it happen, we're calling in some friends from Nintendo to buff up the party vibes. That left us with the question: Which Nintendo property would host the best Halloween party? In the early 2000s, publishers everywhere were looking for their slice of the YA literature pie. Some folks were writing about magical schools, others were writing about dragons, but 9(ish) people were coming together to write something different. That "something different" was called 'Warriors' and it was different because it was about cats. Clean your pelt and feed your kittypets as we head Into The Wild and cover Erin Hunter's Warriors series. There's stray cats, there's evil cats, there's wet cats, there's more cat names than your brain has room for.
