انسان بودن “… فرزندم! تو میتوانی هرگونه “بودن” را که بخواهی باشی، انتخاب کنی. اما آزادی انتخاب تو در چارچوب حدود انسان بودن محصور است. با هر انتخابی باید انسان بودن نیز همراه باشد و گرنه دیگر از آزادی و انتخاب سخن گفتن بیمعنی است، که این کلمات ویژه خداست و انسان، و دیگر هیچکس، هیچچیز. انسان یعنی چه؟ انسان موجودی است که آگاهی دارد (به خود و جهان)، و میآفریند (خود را و جهان را)، و تعصب میورزد، و میپرستد، و انتظار میکشد، و همیشه جویای مطلق است، جویای مطلق. این خیلی معنی دارد. رفاه، خوشبختی، موفقیتهای روزمره زندگی و خیلی چیزهای دیگر به آن صدمه میزند. اگر این صفات را جزء ذات آدمی بدانیم، چه وحشتناک است که میبینیم در این زندگی مصرفی و این تمدن رقابت و حرص و برخورداری، همه دارد پایمال میشود. انسان در زیر بار سنگین موفقیتهایش دارد مسخ میشود. علم امروز انسان را دارد به یک حیوان قدرتمند بدل میکند. تو، هر چه میخواهی باشی، باش، اما… آدم باش…” دکتر علی شریعتی
