Description
City Awakening exists to awaken both skeptics and believers to the Gospel and equip them to reach the world. We want to see skeptics and believers seek truth, find joy in community, and live with purpose in our city. The three primary components of our community consist of: Gospel saturated worship, community, and multiplication.

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name." - Matthew 6:9 Jesus revolutionized prayer by inviting us into something extraordinary - calling the Creator of the universe "Our Father." This was the first time in history God gave such a personal invitation to approach Him relationally. When we pray, we're not performing a ritual or trying to impress others with fancy words. We're having a conversation with our loving Father who already knows what we need before we ask. The beauty of prayer isn...
The biggest difference between a follower and a fan? Followers stick around for the entire journey, while fans only stay for the highlights. ⛪ Jesus calls us in Matthew 28:19 to "go and make disciples of all nations." This isn't just for pastors or missionaries - it's a command for every believer as we go about our daily lives. Following Jesus means making a personal decision to live sacrificially, join His mission, and help others discover who He truly is. The question we must ask ourselves:...
"You can't have Jesus as Savior without submitting to Jesus as Lord." In Mark 4:35-41, we witness Jesus commanding the wind and waves with just His words. The disciples asked, "Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey Him!" This wasn't just a good teacher or healer - this was the Creator God demonstrating His lordship over creation. We all face storms in life - divorce, depression, loss, prodigal children. The world offers temporary fixes that leave us empty, but Jesus doesn't just sa...
Throughout history, people have had many flawed leaders - prophets who sometimes spoke falsely, priests who failed in their duties, and Kings who ruled selfishly. But in Jesus, we find the perfect fulfillment of all three roles. "We don't have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin." - Hebrews 4:15 Jesus is our Prophet who speaks truth to transform us, our Priest who sympathizes with our struggl...
Large crowds gathered from across Galilee, Judea, and beyond to follow Jesus. Even His enemies couldn't ignore Him—they plotted against Him because His influence was undeniable. "If Jesus is Lord, then make Him the center of your life, not a footnote." The question isn't whether Jesus existed or whether He was remarkable. History confirms both. The question is: Who do we believe He is? Lord, lunatic, liar, or legend? The evidence points to one conclusion: Jesus is Lord. Now we must decide wha...
Every generation asks "Who is Jesus?" but eventually it becomes deeply personal. Even John the Baptist, one of the strongest believers, wrestled with doubt while imprisoned. Yet when he doubted, he didn't turn away from Jesus - he turned TO Jesus with his questions. Jesus didn't rebuke John for his doubts. Instead, He patiently pointed to the evidence: "The blind receive sight, the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dead are raised" (Matthew 11:5). These weren't random miracles - they were fulfill...
As we step into 2026, what if we could move beyond temporary holiday anticipation to something eternal? Simeon and Anna in Luke 2 show us what holy anticipation looks like. After decades of waiting, they recognized Jesus at the temple because they never stopped looking forward to God's work. This year, let's choose to be gladiators instead of spectators in our faith. Three ways to live with holy anticipation: Anticipate God's Work - even when we can't see it Align with God's Heart...
Jesus is the light we're all searching for. He came to shine His light into the darkness of our lives - and that light is still shining today. Sometimes it feels like darkness might be winning, but remember: there isn't any darkness we'll ever face in life that the resurrecting light of Christ can't overcome. The darkness cannot snuff out His light in our lives! 🌟 This Christmas Eve, may we receive the gift of His light and let it illuminate our path forward into the new year.
This Advent season reminds us that God's love isn't based on our lovability—it flows from His perfect character. When we feel unworthy or struggle with our faith, we can find unshakeable foundation in this truth: God's love covers the whole gap between us and Him. The beauty of divine love lies not just in its quantity, but in its action. God didn't simply feel affection for the world; He gave sacrificially. He gave His absolute best—His one and only Son—to rescue us from perishing and grant ...
"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favors!" - Luke 2:14 In this message, Pastor Louis taught on our search for peace. In relationships, finances, or uncertain futures—we often look everywhere except the true source. Christmas reminds us that Jesus came not primarily to give us peace FROM our circumstances, but peace WITH God. The shepherds didn't just hear about peace; they hurried to find Jesus, the pathway to peace. Then they shared what they found with oth...
Samson had incredible strength to tear apart a lion, yet couldn't tame his own desires. How often do we find ourselves in similar situations—strong in some areas but weak in others? Sin damaged Samson's life, but it couldn't destroy God's grace and power to restore him. Even after his greatest failures, God used him mightily. The same is true for us today. In this message, Pastor Louis reminds us no matter how damaged our lives may seem, God's grace is greater than our failures. His resurrect...
How often do we chase after broken saviors—relationships, success, wealth—only to find they can't fill the joy void in our hearts? The story of Samson reminds us that even when the Israelites stopped pursuing God, He never stopped pursuing them. When we look at Judges 13, we see God's relentless love for people who had stopped seeking Him.
In Judges 10, the Israelites fell into this pattern—worshiping false gods until trouble came, then crying out to the Lord as a last resort. God's response? 'Go and cry out to the gods you've chosen.' (Judges 10:14) The truth resonates through the ages: God wants to be the Lord of our lives, not the last resort in our lives.
We're all chasing treasures in this life. The real question isn't whether we're pursuing treasures—it's WHAT treasures we're pursuing. Are they temporary earthly possessions or eternal heavenly investments? The heart motivates our generosity, our hands put it into action, but our heads must make the decision: Will we serve God or money? Will we invest in growing His eternal kingdom or our temporary one? When we choose to treasure Jesus above all else, generosity flows naturally!
Generosity starts with the heart, not the wallet. It's fueled by grace, not guilt. When we receive the indescribable gift of Jesus, our hearts naturally respond with generosity. Our generosity isn't measured by percentages or amounts, but by the cheerfulness with which we give. In this message we learn that we can give without loving, but we cannot love without giving.
When we seek our own glory, we invite disaster. The story of Gideon in Judges 8-9 serves as a powerful reminder of what happens when we forget who truly deserves the throne in our lives. Gideon began his journey in humility, allowing God to reduce his army to just 300 men. Yet after victory, his actions revealed a heart seeking personal glory rather than God's. Our words may profess faith, but our actions reveal who truly sits on the throne of our hearts.
The world celebrates self-sufficiency and strength, but God often works through our weaknesses. Just as Gideon defeated an army of 135,000 with only 300 men, trumpets, and torches, God delights in using the unexpected to accomplish His purposes. In this message we learned that God often strips away our self-reliance so we can experience His divine power. Where in our lives might we need to let go of our own "armies" and trust in God's power alone?
"The God who is with you is greater than the battles in front of you." - Judges 6:16 Like Gideon, many of us find ourselves threshing wheat in winepresses—hiding from our battles rather than facing them with faith. But God's promise remains unchanged: "I will be with you." What battles are we facing today that seem too overwhelming? Remember that God doesn't promise we'll never face difficulties; He promises to be with us through them. When we rely on God's presence for strength rather than f...
In Judges 4-5, we meet Deborah, Barak, and Jael - three individuals who didn't wish for different circumstances but faithfully served God in their current roles. The result? God worked through their faithfulness to bring victory and 40 years of peace to Israel. Pastor Louis encouraged us to commit to faithfulness in the places God has planted us, not because our roles define us, but because we serve a faithful God who redeemed us through Christ.
From the pages of Judges comes a timeless truth: The saviors we seek are merely shadows of the real Savior we need. Like Israel in Judges 3, we cycle through sin, struggle, and searching for salvation in all the wrong places. Money provides temporary security. Relationships offer fleeting comfort. Fame leaves us still insecure. But these broken saviors—these shadows—point us to our need for something greater, someone greater. Pastor Louis reminds us in this message that unlike the Judges who ...
