How well does competition shooting translate into the carry world? Well, it depends on a lot of things. In today's episode we go deep into concealed carry... guns, gear, techniques, and a few stories about close calls.
Welp. We finally crested the 2 hour mark with our longest listener question episode ever. Enjoy the extra podcast this week.
Over the years our opinions on gear and techniques have changed a lot. These are some things that Riser and Maxwell used to hold strong opinions on which have since changed.
Tube-fed shotguns have changed a lot in the last few seasons. The introduction of Modified division in USPSA and the upcoming Shotgun World Shoot have driven advancements that make cutting-edge shotguns from five years ago seem tame. Here's everything you need to know about what can be done to a shotgun these days.
The 2026 shooting season is shaping up. Adam and Adam talk about their plans for prep, matches, and classes for the next year.
2025 was a pretty wild year for the two Adams. Lots of matches, lots of classes, lots of rounds down range, and some important lessons learned. In the first week of the new year we take a quick peak back at the last 12 months.
If you're going to do any shooting past 100 yards, then you need to really understand what your bullet is doing as it travels out into the world. Today's episode is a short lesson on what impacts a bullet's flight as well as a quick how-to guide on using a ballistics calculator (which is way easier than you think).
What's the worst piece of shooting advice you've ever heard? Here are a few of our favorites from over the years, and a couple that just won't die.
Not sure what to get for your shooting buddy this holiday? Listen here. Or, if you are the shooting friend/partner/husband/wife/etc, then send this episode to anyone buying you gifts, and maybe you'll get something great.
We're back where On The Perf started—recording at PCSL 2 Gun Nationals. This time the Adams shot the main match to have a real go at it. There was sickness, broken guns, occluded dots, and all kinds of shenanigans. Neither Adam feels redeemed, and you can find out why.
Maxwell got a deer, and Riser got the Flu, but we're still gonna sit down and record an episode for everyone. Today we talk a bit about match etiquette—some of the dos and don'ts of how to conduct yourself at the range. Plus, a bit of shit talk just for fun.
On today's episode, we cover all the dos and don'ts of being a great RO. If you want to volunteer (and you should), then this is your road map on how to do it well and what to watch out for.
Today we answer listener questions about Briley pistols, best dots for shotguns, front site focus vs target focus, magazine choice, most interesting targets for each platform, red dot mounting options, IWB holster questions, rifle shooting, and more. But first, Riser does some super Gary stuff and gets DQd from his local match.
Maxwell goes to Area 2 in Phoenix, barely makes major, aims hard a lots of zebra targets, does a bit of one-handed shenanigans, and wins a fat stack of belt cash.
Riser flies down to Texas to compete in the Vortex Shootout. There was a tornado, torrential rain, stage wins, a DQ, and un-DQ, and a full-on survival day preceding his best finish of the season. This one was epic.
On this episode, Maxwell breaks down all things USPSA Race Gun Nationals in St George Utah including the world's scariest make ready, staged-mag long courses, some dude who came down the Idaho to take over the world, and whether or not you should drive home in the 1990 Corvette that you won from shooting concealed. Plus, Riser makes Maxwell laugh so hard that he cries, so that's always good.
Riser flies out to North Carolina to shoot Memorial 3 Gun. Long range, huge shotgun stages, hard pistol shots, option stages, and a good cry with an RO, this match had it all. Plus, Brian Nelson once again solves 3 gun, Adam finds out that 6x is too much for movers, and the day's Gary learns about steel shot.
Adam and Adam answer listener questions about coming back after an injury, stage planning, PCCs for rifle practice, ICORE vs bowling pins, flying with 3 gun gear, designing good stages in small areas, and more.
Today we answer a short listener question, discuss the freight cost of all the metals that the US team brought home from South Africa, and discuss Riser's process for developing rifle loads so Maxwell can build on for his new 45-70 deer rifle.
Adam and Adam discuss cross training for shooting sports. Maxwell uses motocross and video games, Riser uses climbing and mountain biking, and they both work out. But how does all of this help? Plus, when do you bail on yet another gun safe and just build a vault?
