Are affirmations biblical? What does the Bible really say about Christian affirmations? In this episode, we break down Scripture and explore the biblical foundation of affirmations, renewing your mind, and the power of your words. Your brain is always looking for evidence to prove what you believe  so what are you training it to agree with? Is it actually God's will for you to focus on your health… or is that just vanity dressed up as discipline? This is the honest question we don't say out loud. In this episode, we break down what Scripture really says about health, weight loss, and stewardship. Not from culture's lens but from a Kingdom perspective. You'll learn: Why weight loss isn't about aesthetics it's about stewardship What it means that your body is a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19–20) Why discipline and self-control are spiritual maturity (1 Corinthians 9:27, Galatians 5:22–23) How health increases your capacity for obedience and assignment (3 John 1:2) The real question isn't: "Does God want me smaller?" It's: "Would losing weight increase my strength, clarity, discipline, and longevity for my assignment?" If the answer is yes then pursuing health becomes stewardship, not vanity. Is the Proverbs 31 woman realistic… or have we misread her? In this episode, we dismantle the cultural lie that she "did it all." We focus on Proverbs 31:15–16 and uncover what the text actually says: she had support, she had earnings, and she led strategically. You'll learn: The difference between doing and directing Why over-functioning leads to burnout How "doing it all" turns you into the bottleneck Practical shifts in your home, motherhood, and wellness Why stewardship expands capacity — but constant doing exhausts it The Proverbs 31 woman wasn't scrambling. She was structured. She wasn't drowning. She was supported. If you're stuck in survival mode, this episode will challenge you to lead like a steward not a stressed-out worker. Why does discipline feel so hard especially when you know what you should be doing, but keep doing the opposite? In this episode, we break down the real reason consistency feels impossible and why it's not a willpower problem. Using Romans 7 and Philippians 4, we explore how the Apostle Paul's spiritual growth reveals the difference between awareness and maturity and how that directly applies to emotional eating, weight loss, and health goals. You'll learn why discipline isn't about trying harder, but about identity, mind renewal, and walking by the Spirit. If you're stuck in the cycle of knowing what to do but not doing it, this episode will shift how you see discipline, self-control, and your health journey Biblically and practically. ✨ In this episode, we cover: Why awareness is a sign of growth, not failure Romans 7 vs. Philippians 4 explained through a wellness lens The difference between flesh-led habits and Spirit-led discipline Why emotional eating is an identity issue—not a discipline issue How maturity is learned through perseverance, not perfection If you're ready to stop fighting yourself and start walking in alignment physically, mentally, and spiritually this episode is for you. 💪✨ Schedule your free clarity call: CLICK HERE Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itsyolandaking/ Instagram: @shes.called.to.wellness Download Free Weight Loss Guide:  CLICK HERE
Are you exhausted from carrying everything ministry, family, work, and everyone else's expectations on your own? This episode is for the woman who loves God deeply, serves faithfully, and yet finds herself standing on the edge of burnout. In Episode 19, we dive into the powerful wisdom found in Exodus 18:13–18, where Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, lovingly confronts him with a hard truth: "The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone." Sis, this is not a rebuke—it's an invitation to order, wisdom, and rest. In this episode, we talk about: The difference between burnout and Biblical order Why doing everything yourself is not a badge of honor How overcommitting in ministry can slowly drain your joy, health, and relationships Why saying no in certain seasons is an act of wisdom, not disobedience The truth about balance vs. order in your life and calling How to honor God by honoring your body, energy, and season I also share a very personal story from my own life navigating full-time work, motherhood, marriage, ministry commitments, building the brand God placed on my heart, and stewarding my health all while learning when to advocate for myself and say no without guilt. This episode will help you recognize that sometimes it's not a heart issue… 👉🏽 it's a body issue. And ignoring that doesn't make you spiritual, it makes you depleted. We also unpack: Why rhythms of rest and routines are essential in ministry How misplaced priorities can quietly affect your relationship with God, your spouse, and your children Practical ways to care for your health even in a busy season Why this season of overwhelm is not permanent How the enemy uses busyness to steal peace, clarity, and joy We close with encouragement from Matthew 11:28–30, reminding you that Jesus never intended for His work to crush you—His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Key Takeaway: This is not about doing less for God it's about doing what He's called you to do in the right order, with the right support, and with a healthy mind, body, and spirit. You are called. You are faithful. And you were never meant to do this alone. 💛 If this episode brought up stress, exhaustion, or the realization that things feel out of order, I'd love to support you in a mind, body, and spirit recalibration without pressure or overwhelm. 📲 Come find me on Instagram @shescalledtowellness 📲 Or Connect with me on Facebook CLICK HERE Send me the word ORDER and let's pray, talk it through, and take your next step—together. In this episode, we talk about: Why your body may resist dreaming, believing, or transforming How unhealed stress and survival patterns block weight loss and wellness Why belief must be trained—not forced How the nervous system impacts your ability to follow through What it looks like to bridge the gap between where you are and where God is calling you I also introduce a powerful, gentle tool called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) a nervous system regulating practice that combines light tapping on specific acupressure points with mindful awareness.  Tapping works by: Sending calming signals to the brain through the body Stimulating the vagus nerve Down-regulating the stress response Helping your body feel safe enough to believe again As you tap, you give language to what you're feeling and what you desire creating a bridge between your current reality and your future vision. I'm so excited to finally share this with you… The podcast is officially rebranding to She's Called to Wellness. This isn't just a name change it's a declaration. A declaration that Kingdom women don't have to be successful and strong in every area of life while silently struggling with their health, weight, and wellness. My mandate is clear: To release divine identity and mindset renewal to Kingdom women with a calling so physical transformation and emotional wellness can follow. You don't have to choose between your calling and your health. You get to be all that God has called you to be and that includes your wellness. Ready for Support? Shame around food is one of the enemy's most strategic tools against women of God. Why? Because it attacks your body, your identity, and your kingdom authority all at once. In this episode, we uncover how food shame forms, how diet culture disguises itself as "discipline," and how Jesus leads us into true food freedom not through perfection, but through deliverance and peace. Food freedom isn't about eating perfectly. It's about living unbound. "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."  John 8:36 Reflection Question: When was the first time you experienced shame around food? How old were you, and what was happening? What did you begin to believe about yourself because of it? If this episode stirred something in you, it's not by accident. Food freedom is possible and you don't have to walk it alone. ✨ Apply to work with me here: CLICK HERE 💬 Or send me a DM on Instagram: @shes.called.to.wellness with the word FREEDOM COACHING
Women in ministry are uniquely vulnerable to cortisol belly fat because of chronic stress, emotional labor, trauma exposure, disrupted sleep, and the constant pressure to pour out without rest. In Part 2 of this series, we move past awareness and talk about what actually helps—because cortisol belly is not a discipline problem or a lack of willpower. It's a nervous system problem, and pushing harder often makes it worse. In this episode, we break down what the nervous system really is, why regulation is the foundation of hormone balance and belly fat loss, and how constant overdrive keeps cortisol elevated. You'll learn practical, sustainable ways to calm cortisol through predictability, gentle routines, consistent nourishment, emotional support, and realistic rest rhythms—especially while serving in ministry. We also talk about why many women are unknowingly trying to lose weight using behaviors that increase stress, how time audits reveal hidden burnout, and why sleep is one of the most powerful forms of hormone therapy available. If you're a woman in ministry struggling with stubborn belly fat, exhaustion, and burnout, this episode will help you shift from striving to healing—God's way.   Weight Loss Guide: Click Here Connect on Instagram: @shes.called.to.wellness
Why Women in Ministry Are More Prone to Weight Gain In this episode, we talk about why weight gain especially belly fat is so common for women in ministry, and why it's not a failure of discipline or faith, but a stress response of the body. We explore how chronic ministry stress keeps cortisol elevated and dysregulates the HPA axis, leading to increased fat storage, insulin resistance, slower metabolism, muscle loss, and persistent cravings. We also address the moral pressure around self-care in ministry and how beliefs like "rest is selfish" or "my body shouldn't matter" reinforce burnout and weight retention. If this conversation resonated with you, this is exactly the work we continue inside Rewired for Weight Loss—a mind, body, and spirit approach to healing stress, identity, and your relationship with food and your body. The program includes teaching, nervous-system-informed tools, spiritual support, and group coaching inside Voxer. 📅 Kickoff call: Sunday, January 12th Join Rewired For Wellness: Click HERE This is for women who are ready to stop fighting their bodies and move forward from a place of peace instead of pressure. In this episode, we dive into one of the most challenging aspects of weight loss: resisting immediate cravings in favor of your long-term goals. Losing weight requires saying no to instant gratification, but why is this so difficult? Why It's So Hard Many of the foods we're tempted by contain processed sugars and refined carbs that are deliberately designed to keep us coming back for more. These ingredients create addictive patterns in our brains, making it harder to stop snacking and easier to give in to cravings. Understanding this helps us recognize we're not just fighting willpower we're up against food science. The Secret Weapon: Self-Control Here's the truth that changes everything: God has given us the spirit of self-control. This isn't about relying solely on our own strength it's about tapping into the divine power available to us. When we feel weak or tempted, we can draw on this gift to make choices that honor our bodies and our goals. Connect & Get Resources Ready to start your own journey? This Thanksgiving, I experienced something that many of you might relate to. I was intentional about my health. I walked a lot, avoided snacking, and set a goal to lose just half a pound that week. But when I stepped on the scale after the holiday, I had gained 4 pounds. I felt upset. I felt mad. But instead of giving up, I continued with my week as planned. I ate at home, focused on my nutrition, and within just four days, I had not only lost those 4 pounds, I lost the additional half pound I was originally going after. My Lessons: Nutrition is more important than I realized I had significant inflammation from eating out rather than home-cooked meals Trust the timing your body needs time to respond Overcoming Obesity: 4 Scriptures to Guide Your Journey 1. Prayer and Supplication (Philippians 4:6) "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Bring your weight loss struggles to God. Don't carry the anxiety alone lay it at His feet with thanksgiving. 2. Faith Without Works is Dead (James 2:26) "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Prayer is essential, but you must also take action. Faith requires you to do your part make the healthy choices, move your body, and honor the temple God gave you. 3. Power, Love, and a Sound Mind (2 Timothy 1:7) "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." A sound mind means discipline, self-mastery, and self-control. God has already equipped you with everything you need to succeed on this journey. 4. Make the Vision Plain (Habakkuk 2:2) "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it." Get clear on your vision. Write down your goals, make them specific, and keep them visible so you can run toward them with purpose. Need Support?
