Description

Vault Unlocked is for founders who don't want to learn the hard way.

If you're building something real and you care about growing revenue faster, cleaner, and with fewer blind spots, this podcast is your unfair advantage.

Hosted by Kayvon Kay, Vault Unlocked brings elite founders and operators into conversations they normally keep private. Not the public story. The real one.

The fumbles that cost them millions.

The decision they almost didn't make.

The strategy they only understood after it finally worked.

Every episode is built around one question founders actually care about:
"What do you know now that would have saved you time, money, and pain if you learned it earlier?"

Kayvon goes deep on purpose.
The guests don't hide.
Because surface-level answers don't grow companies.

This is where you learn what not to do, what actually moved the needle, and how the best founders think when things are on the line.

No motivation.
No recycled playbooks.

Just inside access to hard-earned lessons that help you grow faster by learning from other people's mistakes, missteps, and breakthroughs.

If you want to shortcut the learning curve without gambling your own business, Vault Unlocked is for you.

Listen like a founder who plans to win.

This episode originally aired on October 14th 2025.  Introducing FROM THE VAULT, a new miniseries where we're bringing back the best episodes from Season 1. The conversations that challenged the way we think, pushed us to ask better questions, and reminded us what it really takes to grow, lead, and build something meaningful. Whether you've been here since day one or you're just discovering the podcast, there's something in these conversations worth hearing. —- Sooner or later, every business takes a hit nobody budgeted for: an algorithm change, a quarter in the red, a client list that stops trusting you. The first thirty days after that hit decide whether the company is still operating a year later, and most owners spend those days looking for someone to blame. Douglas James has absorbed that hit twice, once at $50,000 a month and once at $11 million, and rebuilt both times. If your revenue depends on a platform, a channel, or a handful of clients, the only open question is when it happens to you and what you do next. Douglas James is the Founder and CEO of LeadFi.ai, software that shows business owners a lead's credit score, income, and spending capacity the moment it enters a funnel. He served ten years in the U.S. Navy, built a coaching company past $100 million, and helped more than 10,000 service members move into online business. Kayvon asks what turned it on for Douglas when so many people try the same model and stall. He points to his first $7,000 check and a framework from mentor Dr. Jeff Spencer: do the daily work until the first result lands and belief takes over. Google's surprise update then pushed every site he had ranked off page one overnight, and he pivoted and taught himself Facebook and Google Ads to get back to $50,000 a month in about two and a half months, all while still on active duty. A Master Chief later asked him to teach what he knew, and a Dropbox course grew into programs up to $55,000. Then $30 million in ad spend and two quarters in the red cost him over $11 million. Marketing said the leads were strong and sales said they were broke, and that gap became LeadFi.ai. This episode is for founders, agency owners, coaches, consultants, and operators whose business rides on one channel, one platform, or a few key clients, and for anyone weighing a paycheck against a business of their own. Anyone wanting a clean success story with no setbacks will find this one uncomfortable. Douglas breaks down how lead generation works at ground level, from local SEO and Google ranking penalties to paid traffic and performance-based pricing. He covers how a high-ticket coaching business scales past $100 million, why teaching a skill can outearn doing it, and how buyer qualification changes the way a sales team closes. Underneath sit mindset, resilience, and how unresolved trauma shapes decisions about money and risk. Questions Answered How do you rebuild a business after a sudden revenue collapse? What happened when Google's Penguin update removed local websites from page one? Why can teaching a skill earn more than doing the skill? How do you scale a high-ticket coaching business to $100 million? Why do leads with strong applications still fail to close? How can business owners verify a lead's buying power before the sales call? How does unresolved trauma show up in leadership and business decisions?   Thank you to our partner this week: If you're looking for a smarter way to research investments and make more informed financial decisions, check out today's partner, Weiss Ratings Plus at WeissVault.com  Looking to dive deeper into these conversations and connect with our host and guest? Whether you've been here since day one or you're just discovering the podcast, there's something in these conversations worth hearing. — If you have ever followed a proven system to the letter and watched it stall, the next hour was recorded for you. Kevin Trudeau explains why two people can run the same playbook and land in different places, using the story of the night a competitor cloned his entire infomercial and still lost. Kayvon Kay asks the questions most people avoid, and Kevin answers every one of them. Kevin Trudeau is the author of Your Wish Is Your Command, the program Kayvon has applied to his own goals since 2010, and the number one New York Times bestselling author of Natural Cures. He built his name in direct response television and now runs World's Best Nutritionals and Organics. Timestamps 00:00 Kayvon introduces Kevin Trudeau and Your Wish Is Your Command 01:30 Kevin's background, from infomercials to Natural Cures 04:11 The contempt of court sentence 11:02 The PsyOps playbook: division, chaos, then the prescription 14:47 Kevin on the Brotherhood 18:10 The 40 point algorithm and why dreaming big comes first 27:48 The sweet spot 28:49 The training balance scale 30:46 The Guthy-Renker infomercial copy that failed 35:10 Responsibility 38:53 Awareness: the man who talked through an entire dinner 50:27 The four stages of competence 54:09 Why Kevin says "good" when a lawsuit arrives 59:25 Cigarettes, McDonald's, and programmed habits 01:07:38 World's Best Nutritionals and Organics 01:13:26 Closing words from Kevin Kayvon asks what separates people who reach their goals from people who stay stuck, and Kevin answers with a framework: a 40 point scoring system he says he was taught inside a secret organization he calls the Brotherhood. It starts with dreaming at a scale your current income cannot justify, then returning to a target he calls the sweet spot, big enough to excite you and small enough to believe you can hit. He lays out the training balance scale, with strategy and technique on one side and thinking on the other, and explains why he tells people asking how to trade crypto to fix their attitude first. The Guthy-Renker story is his proof. One of the largest infomercial companies in the world matched his script, his set, his lighting, and a host who looked like him, and the results still did not match. Kevin credits the energy behind the work. From there the conversation moves to responsibility, the step he says loses most listeners, then the four stages of competence and why his first reaction to a new lawsuit is to say "good." He also covers how film and product placement programmed habits like smoking and vodka, his contempt of court sentence, and what Natural Cures did to Walmart and McDonald's. Built for founders, sales leaders, operators, and independent thinkers who have collected frameworks and playbooks and still see inconsistent outcomes, and for anyone building a personal brand or a team that has to perform without constant supervision. The responsibility section will be uncomfortable for anyone who wants to be told none of it is their doing. Topics include manifestation and the law of attraction as practical goal setting, self-awareness in leadership and sales, how advertising and media shape buying decisions, and the four stages of competence as a model for building skill under pressure. Questions Answered Why does the same sales script, offer, and set produce different results for different people? Why does Kevin Trudeau say attitude has to come before strategy? How do you set a goal that motivates you and is still realistic enough to hit? What separates dreaming big from living in a dream world? What changes when you take full responsibility for your results? What are the four stages of competence, and how do you reach unconscious competence? How do advertising and movies shape what people buy and believe? Every wall between you and more money, better relationships, and real freedom was built by you, and most people spend their whole life defending it instead of removing it. Meir Ezra has spent decades inside prisons, boardrooms, and private islands finding the exact pattern that keeps high performers stuck no matter how much they fix on the surface. If your income, your relationships, or your sense of self keeps hitting the same ceiling, the reason is in this conversation. Meir Ezra is an entrepreneur, speaker, and prosperity coach known for his work on wealth creation, personal growth, and removing the internal barriers he believes limit success, relationships, and freedom. He is the founder of Guaranteed Prosperity, where he teaches business, mindset, and self-development principles. Kayvon Kay sits down with Meir to break down what Meir calls a "sin": not religious wrongdoing, but any action or inaction a person would not want done to them, and how every hidden one quietly creates distance, distrust, and blind spots in relationships and income alike. The conversation moves through real cases: a billionaire estranged from his children who could not access his own fortune until he faced what he had done, a man in prison whose paralyzed hand recovered without medication once he confronted a single unresolved action, and a real estate professional whose income transformed the day he stopped sabotaging himself. Kayvon and Meir also get into the mechanics: how justification hides the exact thing holding someone back, why criticizing someone else is almost always a mirror, and why resisting a problem is what keeps a person permanently attached to it. This episode is for founders, operators, and high performers who have already fixed the tactical layer of their business and still feel a ceiling they cannot explain. It is for anyone running a company, closing deals, or leading a team who has noticed the same conflict, the same financial plateau, or the same relationship pattern keeps repeating in a new form. It is not for anyone looking for a surface-level productivity hack. This is internal work with external consequences. This conversation sits at the intersection of business growth and personal development, showing why mindset work is not separate from revenue growth but is often the actual lever behind it. Meir connects wealth creation directly to relationship quality, arguing that the communication between a person and their money, their team, and their family follows the same rules that govern trust, influence, and leadership. For founders focused on scaling a company, building a sales system, or leading people through change, this episode reframes personal growth as a business strategy, not a side project. Questions Answered Why do relationships and income rise or fall together? What is a "sin" in Meir Ezra's framework, and how does it differ from religious guilt? Why does criticizing someone else usually point back at yourself? What is the difference between accepting a mistake and actually resolving it? Why does resisting a problem make it stronger? How did a paralyzed hand recover after facing an unresolved action? What is Meir Ezra's Prison Break process, and who is it for? Why does Meir Ezra guarantee double the money back if a client does not get results? Your team is already being measured against a standard you didn't set. AI raised the bar, and the founders who haven't noticed are about to miss opportunities because of it. Kayvon sits down with Sean Campbell, who has spent three decades watching how people adopt technology, who embraces it and who stalls. Sean sees the pattern in his classroom, in boardrooms and in the companies he helps rebuild around AI. He gives Kayvon the one question he would ask to predict who wins with it, and it has nothing to do with how technical you are. It comes down to how you manage people. Sean is the CEO of Cascade Insights, and author of The Art of Asking: Collaborating Effectively with AI. He helps leaders redesign work with AI and understand how it is changing their market. Sean gave a room of future sales reps 30 minutes to pitch a university on a new cafeteria supplier. Within five minutes, some teams wanted to hand in a finished email. Others used AI to attack their own work, found the holes and ended up better prepared than reps who started before AI existed. Same tool, same clock. Completely different outcome. Sean breaks down why that split shows up inside every company, including yours. From there Kayvon and Sean go after the questions most leaders avoid. Why a great-looking deck or email no longer sets anyone apart. Why this round of job disruption plays out in about a year when the last ones took generations. Why knowing what great work looks like is starting to matter more than having done every step by hand. And what happens to your sales process when a meeting ends with the proposal already written. Kayvon adds his own experience building with AI with zero development background, and the two get into why AI can be your best intern or your worst one depending on you. This episode is for founders, operators and executives who are responsible for how a team performs over the next five years. If AI is still a search bar in your business, you are leaving growth on the table and your competitors know it. The conversation also covers how AI is reshaping business growth and sales performance. Sean explains why business owners often see the upside before their employees do, and why delegation and clear context have become core leadership skills in an AI-driven company. They talk about deciding each morning what to give AI and what to keep, how AI slop raises the value of real creative talent, how to keep up when something new launches daily, and why building software for an audience of one is turning into a real edge. Sean closes with what to watch next, and it is robotics. Questions Answered How is AI raising the bar at every job? What skill predicts whether someone will succeed with AI at work? Why do good delegators get better results from AI? How should leaders decide what to give AI and what to keep for humans? Will AI replace jobs faster than past technology shifts? How is AI changing sales roles and proposals? Should schools and universities ban AI? Does learning a craft by hand still matter when AI can do the work? How can leaders keep up when AI changes every day? What is "software of one," and why does it matter for business owners? Why should founders watch robotics alongside AI? Most people who stall out in their careers never find out why. They did the work and hit the numbers, then watched someone else get the room, the budget, and the title. The rules that decided it were never written down, and nobody was going to hand them over. Arturo Nunez is the former VP of Marketing for Nike Basketball, where he shaped the public stories of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He ran Latin America for the NBA, spent four and a half years at Apple, and served as CMO of the largest digital bank in the world. He grew up in 1970s Harlem with no one in his family who had ever worked inside a corporation. His new book is the manual he wishes he'd been handed on day one. Kayvon and Arturo start inside the locker room. Arturo explains how his personal friendship with Kobe produced better stories than any title could, and shares the question Kobe asked everyone around him: are you curious or are you committed? Then comes the LeBron problem. After The Decision, young players called him the best in the league, yet none called him their favorite. Arturo walks through how his team borrowed from Muhammad Ali in Zaire to build the "Training Day" campaign and flip the public story. The second half turns to the unwritten rules: the difference between a mentor and a sponsor, why a win that costs you the relationship is a pyrrhic victory, and the rule he calls the meeting before the meeting.  Founders, executives, marketers, and operators who already have the skill and can't figure out why the next level isn't opening up. First-generation professionals without a family roadmap. Leaders building diverse teams. If you believe good work speaks for itself, this conversation will be uncomfortable, and it should be. At its core, this episode is about influence inside organizations and how career growth happens once talent stops being the differentiator. Arturo makes the case that storytelling is the most powerful skill in marketing and leadership, and connects it to navigating a matrix organization, where results depend on relationship capital with people who don't report to you. The discussion covers stakeholder alignment before high-stakes presentations, the role of sponsorship in reaching the C-suite, and why diversity is a revenue decision for any business entering new markets. QUESTIONS ANSWERED How did Nike build authentic brand stories around Kobe Bryant and LeBron James? What is the difference between a mentor and a sponsor? How do you get buy-in before a high-stakes executive meeting? Why do talented people get passed over for promotion? How do you build win-win relationships in a matrix organization? Why is diversity a business advantage? How do first-generation professionals navigate corporate America? Looking to dive deeper into these conversations and connect with our host and guest?
