To everyone involved with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital who cares for children with cancer and shows compassion to t...

What is Success?

What is Success?

2025-10-2920:38

After Jesus issued his call to follow him, he knew some were still clinging to their success in the world. This should not surprise us because even when one has followed Jesus for years, stepping into the world and its measurement for success is still tempting. In your workplace, what matters most? In your vocation, how is success measured? Let the world measure it as they may; some measures of success are acceptable.
When you get hurt in your life, it impacts every segment of your life. It is really difficult to compartmentalize your hurt and lessen the experience of it. We don’t talk about our hurt aloud many times, but it is real. Hurt people, hurt people. Each of us has been the target of someone else’s personal hurt. They want to get us back for something we have not even done. All because they are striking out at us.

Within two minutes, I asked him: What is the next mountain you need to climb, or what is your next big leadership challenge before you? Everyone faces things that hold us back. We feel bound. Even trapped. Our pasts, including failures, insecurities, and pressure from within and from the outside, may lead us to experience feelings like these. All of us, whether in life or leadership, come up against these things. We must face them head-on because we cannot lead others consistently and effectively until we have personally experienced the necessary freedom. Today, we will talk about what it means to break free — to let go...
I have now lived through the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the 1968 Democratic presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Sr. I remember sitting down on the floor in our home as a 2nd grade little boy, watching President Kennedy’s funeral on a black and white television. Additionally, I remember when the Vietnam War was finally over on April 30, 1975. Furthermore, I have lived through 9/11, which happened twenty-four years ago...
We all dream about the future and what it may one day look like. Dreaming about the future is healthy; we should never withhold expressing our desires, goals, or dreams about it. For those who are followers of Jesus, always know, you have an enemy who specializes in killing your dreams. He sometimes steals your ...
