Description

This eFoil Guide from E-SURFER covers all the important questions about eFoils. Starting with how they work, the legal framework, product selection, maintenance, care, and lots of useful tips.

This podcast introduces you to the world of eFoils in a series of episodes. Ideal for anyone considering buying an eFoil who doesn't have the time to read dozens of articles and watch YouTube videos.

This is not an advertisement for specific eFoil products. The podcast episodes cover the most frequently asked questions about electric hydrofoils and are based on blog articles and YouTube videos by Andreas Lakeberg, who has been testing electric surfboards such as eFoils and jetboards as E-SURFER since 2017.

Tips & tricks for eFoiler. In this episode, we discuss a useful eFoil accessory that can make transport to the water much easier. A complete eFoil weighs at least 30 kg, including the battery. You can carry it 10 meters or more with one hand on the mast and one hand on a hand strap (or alternatively, with the mast on your shoulder). But what if you have to walk further? This is where the eFoil cart comes in handy. It's a buggy with large wheels and plenty of pockets for accessories.
Fliteboard or Lift Foils? We tested the latest Flite and Lift models. Who did win the race? There is a major update to the question “Fliteboard or Lift Foils,” because Fliteboard was acquired by Brunswick Corporation in 2023, and Lift Foils launched the Lift5 in 2025. A completely new eFoil from Lift. In this episode we also briefly discuss the differences between Flite and Lift compared to Aerofoils. The Audi e-tron foils have gained a lot of market share since 2022.
What are these eFoil scooters like Flitescooter for and who are they for? Flitescooter or Audi HyperFly? In our eFoil Scooter review, we compared both. There is a favorite for us. Today we are talking about eFoil Scooters. In particular, the Flitescooter from Fliteboard and the Audi HyperFly from Aerofoils. That scooters are the easiest form of eFoiling. While you couldn't just give out a normal eFoil, for example, in rental or on a luxury yacht, because it would be too dangerous without training, it's different with eFoil scooters.
The safe storage of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of over 1000 kWh, as used in water toys such as eFoils and jetboards, is crucial to ensure safety and longevity. We have already written two articles about lithium-ion batteries in the past. Here is an update with new features and a summary of the original articles. Especially those who store lithium-ion batteries from eFoils and jet surfboards in inhabited rooms as well as in boats or motorhomes should take this topic to heart.
In this episode, we dive into the fascinating world of eFoils (electric surfboards) that let us glide almost silently across the water. We answer the question that every beginner asks: How fast is an eFoil really? Find out why even 20 to 30 km/h on the water feels like weightlessness, while pros break the 50 km/h mark with special race wings. But speed isn't everything. We talk about why eFoiling hasn't lost any of its magic even after seven years. Thanks to constant technical possibilities – from changing wings to fine-tuning with accessories such as shims or different fuselages – the riding experience can be redefined again and again. Also in this episode: • Logistics check: Why you can never charge your eFoil from a normal car battery, but mobile generators like the Honda EU 22i can save your trip on a boat or in a motorhome. • Safety & accessories: From fireproof battery boxes to special leash attachments – we show you which equipment makes the difference between frustration and maximum riding enjoyment. • The comparison: How does the eFoil compare to classic sports like windsurfing or jet skiing? Whether you're a beginner or already gliding across the water, this episode provides you with in-depth insights into a hobby that uniquely combines technology, freedom, and nature.
Whether to buy a Jet-board or eFoil depends on personal preferences as well as the area you want to ride your eSurfboard. Fast and zippy or elegant curves is ultimately a matter of taste. The question is somewhat similar to the discussion of whether to ski or snowboard, as a significant part of the decision depends on personal taste. Some want to feel the water spray and experience high speeds, while others want to glide elegantly over the water. But there are also technical and legal reasons that can influence the decision.
How do you learn to ride an eFoil? The best place to learn is at the E-Surfer eFoil School. If this is not possible, this eFoil online course can help you. Your safety is our top priority. We provide wetsuits, vests, and helmets. The helmets are equipped with radios so that the trainer can talk to you at any time. And you can talk to them! Underneath the eFoil is a mast with a large wing. The trainer will explain how to avoid bumping into it. Our Fliteboards and Audi e-tron foils have extensive safety mechanisms so that you cannot accidentally start the motor.
Comprehensible explanation of eFoil technology. Propeller vs. jet, battery range, setups for beginners and professionals. An eFoil is an electrically powered hydrofoil surfboard. An underwater wing generates lift, the hull lifts out of the water, an electric motor provides thrust, you control the speed with a handheld remote control, and you control the height by shifting your weight. Discover why e-foiling is easier than you think. Glide over the water in just two hours or less. E-foiling may remind you of James Bond. How is it possible that he (or she) can glide so silently over the water? Yet e-foiling is hardly any more difficult than stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). The big difference: with e-foiling, you fly above the water. With the right setup, you can learn this in one to two hours. It's similar to wakeboarding on a water ski cable. Unlike other water sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, or wing foiling, you “only” have to control the board and not a sail or kite. Want to know why a good eFoil can easily cost five figures? The short answer: high-quality materials, complex technology, elaborate safety features, low production numbers, and reliable service drive up the price. The problem with buying: If you're just starting out with eFoiling, you're so busy with the learning curve that even during a test drive, you can't immediately tell the difference between premium eFoils and cheaper models from China or Eastern Europe. First of all, the feeling of taking off is amazing!
