SURPRISE! It's our first very special episode where we have watched the 2011 Michael Shanks Christmas movie, The Christmas Lodge. As far as Christmas movies go, this one is fine. But, we never get to actually see these two people fall in love. They tell us that has happened, but we never get to see it. There are just general timeline issues with this movie that could use some work. Still, it's fine. You don't really need to watch this one, though. If you really want to watch this it is on Amazon Prime, Hoopla, and Tubi. In Epiphany, John is trapped in a time dilation bubble where time is passing much faster for him. Can the team save him before he dies of old age? This episode is not among our favorites. The script seems a little clunky in parts and the characters are not making the best choices. And Rodney wastes so much time telling people he doesn't have time to explain what's happening because that would waste time. What's with Teer's visions of John? This whole storyline just opens up way more questions that we're not sure we want answered. Don't get us started on the ending. All those people had to do was just stare up at the beast and that banished it? That's too much for us even by "Because TV!" standards. Colonel Mitchell becomes Collateral Damage when he's arrested for murder! And he's confessed! This episode sparks some thought-provoking conversations about memory and whether this process is something you would want to undergo. Rachael makes a really interesting point that a person knowing the memories are implanted but still believing they are their own knowledge is a weird disconnect. There's also the point of having the knowledge of how to do something versus actually doing it can be very different things. It is a little odd that an archaeologist and an alien Jaffa are the ones put in charge of looking over legal files. Even if they are alien documents, where's the lawyer? Major Davis? Someone? Also, how exactly does the memory device work? They seem to contradict themselves as they explain it when first analyzing Mitchell's memories to figure out if his memory of Reya's murder is false or not. As much as we really like this episode, at the end of it we're still left asking ourselves, "But how??" Will John and his team escape from the wraith? Will Rodney be able to get help in time? Find out as we discuss The Hive. Ford continues to be a petulant teenager, and we love it. Also, everyone does a really great job acting through the withdrawal of the wraith enzyme. The first time watching this episode, Kerri totally did not see the twist with Neera being a spy for the wraith coming. Rachael did. So, for once, Rachael is smarter than Kerri! Getting the wraith to start fighting themselves is truly interesting, and we can't wait to see how that will help Atlantis fight them in the future. Will Earth survive the Prior Plague? Will the Jaffa give in to Gerak and become slaves to the Ori? Find out as we discuss The Fourth Horseman, Part 2. Luckily, we didn't have to wait three months this time. Why are the Sodan not surprised to see Mitchell, considering they all think he's dead? Why is no one talking about that? And why do they only have one plan for getting blood from the Prior? It seems silly that all the world leaders from the International Committee show up in person at the SGC, which is Ground Zero for the current global pandemic.  Why was Orlin not coming in to tell people the truth about the Ori not a part of the plan from the beginning? SG1 seems to be back to their old tricks of trying to convince people they've just met that they're the ones who know the truth. Although, Teal'c does finally make some good points to Gerak where he starts asking questions to try and get Gerak to really think about what the Priors/Ori have told him. Can non-corporeal beings travel between galaxies without ships? Have the Ancients and Ori really been completely isolated from each other all this time? John's team is kidnapped by an old friend this week in The Lost Boys. And coming soon to Netflix near you, The Found Boys starring Christopher Walken and Helena Bonham Carter, because, somehow, there is no movie or TV show called The Found Boys. So, we make one up. We kind of get why, but it's funny to think of Aiden just being a fully petulant teenager in this episode. The interesting thing is, though, no one denies that the enzyme can increase a person's physical abilities, but the big problem that no one is addressing is the effect this has on everyone's mental health.  How did Ford's men hack the DHD so it would only dial the planet they wanted to go to? They couldn't fix the dart or do much of anything else, but they knew how to do that? And, once John has everyone scooped up in the dart beam, he has the upper hand. He doesn't have to go through with the mission. No one can do anything about it. Earth is under threat from the Prior Plague in The Fourth Horseman, Part 1.    In addition, the storyline with Gerak pushing so hard for the Jaffa to officially follow Origin is quite interesting. As is pointed out several times, you can't legislate religious belief. It will be interesting to see how this fully plays out (cos we don't remember exactly).   Rachael also has an interesting take on Orlin's appearance in this episode. Would the creepy parts of this have been less creepy if Orlin was played by a girl?   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
SG1 finds a strange man in a stasis chamber this week in Prototype. And what do they do with this strange man? Bring him back to the SGC, of course!   Daniel being the one to suggest not keeping Khalek alive is very interesting. Because if he's saying that, it should be a clue as to how dangerous Khalek truly is. But why does Khalek know who Daniel is? He shouldn't, since Anubis used his DNA (and therefore the genetic memory) from before he ascended.   What exactly are the rules of ascension? Every time it gets brought up, they seem to change. Is it a spiritual thing or just a byproduct of evolution?   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
John's turning into a wraith! Can the team find a cure in time before the Conversion is complete? We really like how they've written John in this episode (and his make-up). His checking that Teyla was okay after their kiss was an excellent decision. Though, we do have some concerns over them not addressing what would happen if they weren't able to save John and the fact that so much time and personnel are spent saving one man. Important as he may be. Caldwell continues to be one of the most interesting characters because you're never quite sure what his motivations for his actions are.  The complete lack of any kind of plan when the team goes off on their first egg harvesting mission is a little concerning. Even if they don't know what they're going to find, shouldn't that mean they overprepare for every possible scenario? Stargate SG1 - Babylon

Stargate SG1 - Babylon

2025-08-2836:30

Due to pending technical issues, we speed run this week's discussion of SG1's Babylon. But don't worry. We're still funny. We hope…   We wish we had more information about the Sodan. We're told they're these amazing warriors that have inspired Jaffa all throughout the galaxy, but why? From what we see happen, they were banished by their goa'uld and then just lived off on their own without any regard for what was happening with all the other Jaffa.   We really like how they're writing Mitchell, and the way he is trying to make the Sodan understand how bad the Ori are is a completely different approach than we've seen in the past with regard to the goa'uld.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
We learn some very interesting things about wraith physiology this week on Instinct. Also, Beckett is working on a way to turn wraith into full humans. Do the wraith have families? How much fun would Ronon be at a party?  Even though it's a bad thing that Ellia does still feed on people, how she goes about doing it is quite smart.  There's a new sound effect we need help with: the wraith screech. Is it related to the symbiote screech? Are they the same? Or is it Alan Tudyk?? There is a timeline discrepancy in what's going on with Goran and Zaddik. If Zaddik went missing two years after he found Ellia, what was happening for those two years? SG1 learns that Ba'al has been hiding on Earth since his defeat at the battle of Dakara in Ex Deus Machina. We like that the goa'uld are still a thing in this new Ori era of storytelling.    We now have the new Stargate sitcom spinoff: Sugar Ba'als. Coming to SyFy next summer!   As much as Ba'al can't be trusted to hold up his end of the promise he makes to live on Earth in peace, it would have been interesting to explore that. Just, every now and then we check in with Ba'al on a beach in Mexico, chilling with his sugar mamas.   We do want to know what human name Ba'al is using and we don't remember if it's something that is actually revealed. For now, we shall call him Simon Cliff.   It is kind of fun that this episode actually has a Deus ex Machina in it. Even if it is completely ridiculous.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
This week on Trinity, Rodney destroys 3/4s (well, 5/6s) of a solar system but does he learn anything from it? Also, Ronon is not alone as he had thought.   We really like this episode but we have a major issue with trying to figure out how much time actually passes in this episode. The stuff that Rodney and his team are working on should take several weeks if not months but it seems as if only a day has passed based on Ronon and Teyla's adventure.   Speaking of, getting more of Ronon's history is really interesting and Jason is really coming into his own as this character.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
Stargate SG1 - Beachhead

Stargate SG1 - Beachhead

2025-07-3101:05:04

Vala makes a heroic sacrifice to try and save the galaxy from an Ori incursion this week in Beachhead.    We finally meet the goa'uld hacker! And he is not what we expected. But he is exactly what Vala expected and nobody else would listen to her. We do have an issue with just how straight up mean and rude everyone is to her in certain scenes.   There are two things we were quite happy to see happen this week, though: they met up with a possible adversary on a neutral planet before coming back to the SGC and Mitchell referred to a 30 EARTH minutes!   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
John's team finds a civilization seemingly as advanced as they are this week in Condemned. But how exactly is this society untouched by the wraith? The answer is not what you might expect. The story matter being addressed is sadly still relevant today. While Torrell is an interesting character, some of his monologuing is a bit much. We have a challenge for you, our lovely listeners! What technobabble monologue should Rachael and I memorize to perform during our season 2 warp-up episode? Send us an email or drop it in our Discord.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
What starts as a fun romp with Vala visiting an old planet she had ruled over as a goa'uld turns deadly serious as a Prior of the Ori returns in The Powers That Be.   This episode starts bringing up an interesting point - can you talk someone out of faith/religious belief through logic and reason? Because, when you get down to it, those two things are diametrically opposed. Faith exists without logic and reason. It just is. So, when the being asking for religious devotion is evil, how do you counteract that?   We finally get definitive information as to what exactly is going on with Dr. Lam and General Landry. They're father and daughter!   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
Rodney gets a temporary houseguest when Cadman winds up in his brain after an incident with a wraith dart in Duet.    Why did the Atlantis expedition never take the jumper cloaking technology and make it personal sized? It's weird that no one tells Katie Brown what's going on with Rodney. It doesn't seem to really be a secret and also something that would easily explain his seemingly strange actions and attitude.   This is a really fun episode especially after the very serious and heavy start to season 2.   Let us know: who would be the worst and the best brain to be stuck in?   And always remember, you can't keep a horse in a bathtub.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
The team, not SG1, is off an a galaxy-wide treasure hunt this week to try and break The Ties That Bind.     While we can admit that Vala is a bit much and some of the writing is doing her a disservice, we do still love her and Daniel's chemistry.   We also get the official introduction of the Lucian Alliance and all these bad guys coming out of the woodwork now that the goa'uld are gone is really interesting.   The commentary gives us some insight into where exactly the bathrooms are on a cargo ship.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
Jason Momoa has entered the chat! Yes, the episode we've all been waiting for - the arrival of Ronon Dex.    But why is no one else concerned with UV exposure like Rodney is? It's really important! There's some interesting tension now between John and Caldwell over who is actually in charge when Caldwell is on Atlantis.   Generally, this is a really interesting episode for Rodney. He's doing all the Rodney things but then he actually shoots Ford and it's all kinds of amazing.   And now that we're into the actual start of this second season of Atlantis, we're excited to see where it goes.   INSTAGRAM: SG_Rewatch THREADS: SG_Rewatch DISCORD: https://discord.gg/65kMPzBuaN MERCH: https://showclub.redbubble.com/ EMAIL: woosgrewatch@gmail.com
