Dr. Eric Siegiel, founder of Predictive Analytics World, discusses Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning with our very own, Eric Kavanagh, during the 1st segment of today's InsideAnalysis. Analytics has always been a part of business but decades past analytics is to a Ford Model T what today's Analytics is to a Tesla model 3. Thanks to the raw power, seemingly unlimited affordable data storage, that today's cloud computing provides, businesses are able to insights that are truly changing entire industries. Predictive Analytics is learning to predict; such as, who is most likely to lie. Machine Learning, on the other hand, is used for detection; such as, analyzing MRI scans and other medical images. Healthcare & Financial industries, in particular, have seen some of the most striking results using Predictive Analytics and Deep Learning. Anyone interested in Predictive Analytics should consider going to this year's conference in Las Vegas, Jun 16-20, www.predictiveanalyticsworld.com. In the second half of today's show, Eric discusses the Financial side of Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning with Peter Went. Peter specializes in simplifying the complex and clarifying the ambiguous.
Just as Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, and Machine Learning have been around for a while, so has Natural Language Processing. However, it was the evolution of cloud computing & storage that allowed these technologies to reach their potential. A decade ago, only a handful of companies possessed the computing power that is now available to everyone thanks to the evolution of cloud computing. Natural Language Processing, in particular, has made giant leaps in progress thanks to the introduction of GPU enabled cloud platforms. In addition, with the evolution of Neural Networks, Deep Learning & NLP, instead of humans learning computer languages, Computers are learning human languages. Eric Kavanagh discusses the implications of Natural Language Processing, the Cloud and more with Jeff Huckaby of VoiceBase & Will Murphy of MessagePath.
We've all heard that mantra: "The customer is always right." That's still true today, but perhaps even more so than ever before, in part because customers can leave brands at any moment, with only the touch of a finger. That's the reality that today's brands must face. Moreover, how customers interact with brands has changed irrevocably, both because of the Internet, but also because of smart devices. Any consumer-facing brand needs to appreciate that the user experience of their apps is now of critical importance; as is the need for continuous improvement. Check out this episode of InsideAnalysis to hear host Eric Kavanagh interview Joanna Schloss of Sauce Labs, the preeminent software testing platform for the modern developer.
There have been significant changes in computer hardware and software over the last decade that have completely changed the enterprise computing environment. The most obvious change is the Cloud and the subsequent migration to the Cloud from on-premise. The Cloud provides accelerated computing via parallel processing, optimized storage & optimized memory capable of running large in-memory applications such as databases. One of the best database management systems being used on the enterprise today is open source PostgreSQL, aka Postgres. Eric Kavanagh just returned from SAP Ariba Live in Austin, TX where thousands of buyers & suppliers discussed the latest in supply chain & procurement business solutions using the SAP's Ariba Network. Today on InsideAnalysis Eric talks with Tom Kieley of SourceDay about increasing efficiency of supply & procurement using SourceDay's collaborative approach. During the second segment, he speaks with Joshua D Drake about Postgres and their upcoming Conference. Click Here to Listen

The experts at O'Reilly recently conducted surveys to ascertain the adoption and use of Artificial Intelligence across a broad range of industries. Two of O'Reilly's heaviest hitters, Ben Lorica and Paco Nathan, write: "technology, health care, and retail tend to be the leaders in AI adoption, whereas the public sector (government) tends to be the laggards, along with education and manufacturing." What does this all mean for you? And what other kernels of insight were revealed in this research? Check out today's episode of InsideAnalysis to find out! We'll hear from Ben Lorica himself, respected as a world leader in Data Science and AI. We'll also have our very own Publisher on the call, David Boone, who'll bring some questions for consideration. Want to learn more about the survey findings? Check out this article, co-authored by Lorica and Nathan!
